Going with Ancients bc honestly I have a soft spot for a mysterious long-dead hyper-advanced race that left behind a bunch of traps our MCs can fall into. Case in point.

the Ancients are tall, mysterious, and basically had the whole plot figured out before an apocalyptic event presumably killed them all, and that’s an intriguing story beat

If not I’m answering the question. My favorite of the 3 is probably the Ancients. I don’t know, they’re just cool.
Ancients because robots. And also despite magically inert, making some very neat strides in magical technology. (I just want to point out that autocorrect for me wanted to replace technology with tech gay)
I think the ancients best because they’re so mysterious and unique.

Wait, but if this is the “zombie dungeon funtime adventure”, (which sounds super exciting) wouldn’t zombies mean cave-crawlers? Why would the Ancients keep a tunnel to the caves under their city if they specifically had these robots be able to identify and attack the cave people? Or is it more that this tunnel is adjacent to the caves and oops a wall crumbled after thousands of years and the cave-crawlers got in?
Or maybe it’s something entirely different, I don’t know. What do you think?
If this doorway does lead into the Singing Caves, I have no idea why the automaton evacuated Falst here to escape from “Cave Folk” Dainix. It would seem very strange to me, unless, as you say, the chamber has collapsed into an adjacent cave. But I also doubt that Ancient archtecture is so flimsy or so close to the Caves themselves. I still think this is a bunker, possibly containing more automatons, definitely containing some preserved Ancient remains and cultural information.

I’m assuming the more yellow “AAAAAA” is Falst, but I can’t be certain.
Nice to see Falst trying to warn Dainix to let go lest he fall as well; he has some beef with the Ignan, but doesn’t want him hurt. Maybe some frantic cave time together might help them get along … or make things worse, then better.
Oh my, I was expecting the entrance to go down, but not that sheerly. With the steepness of the walls and the lock mechanism needing unique hands, this shaft was designed for automatons similar to this one.
Prediction for next week: Starts with a few black panels with only text boxes until Dainix uses his fire powers to make light; it would fit the scene and Red’s drawing hand could use a break from Bot Ock.
With Alinua and Kendal still immobile, and assuming Tess and Erin didn’t hear Falst’s scream earlier (or their screams now), it looks like these two are on their own for now. As for what they’ll encounter down here, I think @Zer0 W0lf may be right on the money.
Dainix doesn’t actually have fire powers outside of his demon form although he could transform one hand into a fire claw which would be very glowy

Can’t wait for a Falst and Dainix bonding arc. (Amd maybe learning about ancients as well)
But I suspect we’ll cut back to the others because it seems like the place that could happen (like a cliffhanger of somekind). Maybe it would cut to the Ruunasters like:

Huh. So the lens is getting dimmer as the panels go on; was I wrong, and the lightning lacrima actually was the battery for the whole thing? Maybe there’s a ‘stabbed the heart, not the brain’ sort of situation going on here.
Ohhhh no. I’ve played Firewatch several times before, and I do not trust near-vertical falls in caves at all. At least Falst and Dainix have each other, though…
As of today, I’ve been reading every new page as they’ve come out for three years now, ever since page 1 of chapter 5. This story has given me something to enjoy when I wake up on weekday mornings, and I’ve enjoyed seeing where it’s gone since I started. Here’s to several more years as the group travels to Helm, and probably beyond.

Did you know…
It doesn’t require that high of a height to die from falling. It is dependent on on what you fall on, and at what angle. This is since the main way to die from falling is breaking your spine near the top, as that cuts off blood that comes out of the heart, meaning landing on your side as there is more cushion between that point in the body and the ground.
(With Alinua and Erin both elsewhere, there is no one who will fix all of the broken bones those 2 are going to have.)
At least Falst even if though he did it when a healer was present, he is smart enough to know that falling from great heights is dangerous.
TL;DR: an old classic, the pitfall trap.

Why do we even HAVE that lever?
So I speculate the reason Falst did not finish his sentence is less because he ran out of time and more because it was difficult to think of one word to describe what the arm is wrapped around. Like I guess he could have just said “arm and midsection!” or “arm and torso!”, but while you might yell “He’s still got my arm!”, I think “He’s still got my torso!” or “He’s still got my midsection!” sounds weird as an excited utterance. So Falst was trying to think of a natural way to end the sentence… He should have just said “He’s still got me!” or “He’s arm is still wrapped around me!” Obviously in real life we just blurt out whatever but fictional characters have stricter requirements of diction.
