Reminds me of DnD campaign where I was Life Cleric dwarf.
The rogue failed two will saves for basilisk gaze and was slowly turning into stone.
Meanwhile, on the other side of the battlefield, our fighter had failed two death saving throws.
Who to save? Turns out, it is much easier to undo petrification than death. So rogue became a statue for the next two in game weeks until we reached the closest city.
Tynan finally encounters a wild Erin with Protean but just before he catches it, it uses Self-Destruct. Typical.
Was that Tynan crying in pain? Seems like this form is solid and potentially has a nervous system. I’d wager Tynan has put a lot of himself from the storm into that incarnation so the priority might change to attacking the dragon rather than the clouds.
Look at Tess’s eye in panel 4, her hand grabbing Alinua’s, her face and determined dialogue in panel 6. Erin is hurt. This is no longer a fun exercise in punching gods while the fire guys do their thing; this is personal.
Looking at Erin and Falst, I’d say that’s two more rich purple capes ruined; along with the one from the first prison break I reckon that makes three.
Hold on … if Erin’s shirt has also been torn and burnt, the V.D. tattoo might be showing. If it’s showing there’s a chance J.A. or another Paladin might see it. I’m still on the fence about V.D. making an appearance this chapter, but if Erin’s chest is exposed and the tattoo seen by the right people, we’ll get similar repercussions if he did.
@Anorien,
Also given what we seem to know about Tynan, incarnations in general, and what we might infer from the pages where he formed, isn’t it probable that Dragon is composed mostly of water and air?
I’m not sure I’d *like* a dragon fight, because VD gives me a weird amount of existential dread. If I had to guess, I’d say Dainix will take Erin’s place for as long as he can, and then when that inevitably fails because *DRAMA*, everything looks really bad and maybe Ali’s out, Kendal can summon starfire and take him out.
Just a wild prediction, though.
Oh f*ck, Erin. He took a similar tumble to Tess and Kendal, and Kendal is still unconscious from it. Kendal, the hardiest member of the whole group. The Void Dragon is probably freaking out right now…
So now, Alinua and Dainix are the only ones who haven’t taken a hit in this fight. Though he might not be using his relatively good health to go on the offensive yet, at least Dainix made that sweet catch.
SarrissaTieflingDruid:
Tess means she’ll carry Alinua and use her lightning magic super jump to get Alinua over to Erin as quickly as possible.
OMG! Bodies flying & flopping everywhere! Poor Alinua trying to heal them as they do the ‘lemmings’ dance! I sympathize, having had healers in similar situations. But it’s all being drawn so PRETTY!
Also, to be fair, Tynan has done a terrible job as a dragon, so far. He’s totally gorgeous – glorious and so dang impressive – but not terrifying. The Void Dragon does terrifying well … and I’d just as soon he rests on his ‘World’s Scariest Dragon’ laurels offstage. WAY offstage, but I’m worried that he’s going to be miffed at Tynan and want to show him up. In a: ‘You think THAT is a scary dragon? Now I am a scary dragon!’ – sort of way.
Also, I just noticed: in panel 3, Tynan is clutching his flaming eyes, so whoever said Erin was pulling an Envy vs Roy Mustang a page or three ago, nice prediction.
Dainix is the only one who hasn’t stepped up, and if we read the hint correctly, he (and the starfire, which seems like a balky chainsaw–really hard to start) are all that can really stand up to Tynan. I get he’s uncertain and not in full control of his abilities yet, and in the same state of shock as the rest of the team. It’s only been a few minutes. Plus it takes training and experience to not stand there with your jaw hanging open when your local storm god turns into a big a** dragon — one reason Erin has had presence of mind. And I get that Dainix’ fighting experience is largely under very controlled circumstances.
That said, Dainix needs to shake it off and get into the fight. Or else the Paladins and Erin’s sister are going to have a very uncomfortable introduction to Erin’s copilot.
Well, I’ve never played a healer in DnD, but I’ve played enough Pokemon (especially Mystery Dungeon and Colosseum/XD to know how Alinua feels right about now (though with the obvious scale difference in experiences)
That being said, Erin’s accidentally blowing himself up, although quite effective for a Hail Mary, probably wasn’t the best idea he’d ever had. Less because he’s just taken himself out of the fight–after all, given the situation it really was the best option, side effect nonwithstanding–but because now that he’s unconscious Voidy can come out to play ..
(What happens when a storm is eaten, I wonder? Something tells me Erin’s in for a nasty shock when he wakes up again, and the group is about to get a reminder of just what is harbored unwillingly in their midst…)
As a TF2 Medic main I can relate to Alinua. Please I am the only around here who can heal efficiently and you guys are making it much harder by throwing yourselves into the enemy.
Let’s hope that’s the only comparison as that would come across as in TF2 taking down the Medic is often treated as priority number 1.
Alinua very recently split an entire mountain in half because her patron celestial said “no.” I feel like she could, in fact, be everywhere if she gets upset enough.
Something about Erin flying backwards while on fire makes me think of Icarus falling from the sky after burning his wax wings. Hubris and all that I guess.
20 cents says Tess will punch the dragon at least once before this is over. To be fair, she’s already whacked Tynan a whole bunch before this, so that probably counts, but still.
the pretty dragon is made prettier by having its eyes on fire, which is not something i ever thought i would say.
also the universe has decided that anything eventful should happen to me in 3rd period, as after feeling perfectly fine the majority of the morning, i repeatly threw up during 3rd period, and now i don’t have anything to do expect reread aurora and dread how behind i’m going to be in math.
Yesss grab the boy lol
I love allllll of the art on this page. Lots of angles, v nice
Everyone in this pain is either in emotional or physical pain.
I meant page. Whooops.
I meant page. Whoops.
Loving the Big Sibling Instinct rep here, Red.
Alinua needs Mass Cure Wounds
As Dainix catches Falst, The dragon roars,
Hurling the Magus aside.
“ERIN!” Alinua yells aghast, but he
Doesn’t stir when his name is cried.
And Tess pulls her from Kendal’s body,
Her brother to heal, Alinua
Feels torn, so many need healing now,
As Tynan continues to roar.
pile unconscious friends in one convenient location for maximum healing efficiency
Ah, the dilemma of every MMO and TTRPG character with healing spells.

Come on Tess! Let’s make your dragon punching score 3 for 3!
As a healer main I feel this
Tynan finally encounters a wild Erin with Protean but just before he catches it, it uses Self-Destruct. Typical.

TL;DR: the agony of being the only healer in a fight where everyone is mindlessly throwing themselves into danger…
Damn when the overworked healer gets even more overworked
Once again fire is always the awnser, cauterise the wounds so that they dont bleed out then move onto the next injured person
Erin is K.O. with a freshly half-burnt look and Ali can’t get to him yet… could this mean we’ll get our dragon fight?
I love the healing magic swirls and loops. They’re so pretty and friendly-looking.
C.f. https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0735.html panel 4.
Tynan, even as a dragon, is kind of a wimp. He hypes himself up so much and then throws a tantrum over a bit of fire.
@Anorien,
Also given what we seem to know about Tynan, incarnations in general, and what we might infer from the pages where he formed, isn’t it probable that Dragon is composed mostly of water and air?
Also, how many cloaks have to suffer so badly before this is through?
Wow.
I don’t even know what to say.
What does Tess mean, ‘I’ll get you to him’?
I’m not sure I’d *like* a dragon fight, because VD gives me a weird amount of existential dread. Danix did set a precedent of getting to change his outfit after being set on fire, so this could be a good thing

Burns, cuts and injuries galore
But Alinuas’ distress they still ignore
alt text: “could people stop hitting 0 HP for FIVE MINUTES-“
Alinua is going to be possessed by Life+
So everyone is having an emotional breakdown today
Alinua very recently split an entire mountain in half because her patron celestial said “no.” I feel like she could, in fact, be everywhere if she gets upset enough.
Something about Erin flying backwards while on fire makes me think of Icarus falling from the sky after burning his wax wings. Hubris and all that I guess.
Apparently they can help stayin’ alive.
As someone who primarily plays clerics in my group’s pathfinder games, hey Alinua? I feel you girl.
20 cents says Tess will punch the dragon at least once before this is over. To be fair, she’s already whacked Tynan a whole bunch before this, so that probably counts, but still.
Ah yes, the second dilemma of the White Mage, trying to keep the party alive, as one KOs as she heals another.
the pretty dragon is made prettier by having its eyes on fire, which is not something i ever thought i would say.

Every Support main, in any game system, is feeling this mood. Also, “stop pulling Agro & standing in the AoEs! Your job isn’t to Tank the floor!”
Dam’n it, Alinua! This is why you have to pick mass cure wounds! But noooooooo, you HAD to get wrath of nature.
As someone who plays an elf wizard, I feel Erin’s pain.
this page really do be like: Suffering.jpg
oh the struggle of being the party’s healer
Insert: void dragon
As the chronic cleric of basically every D&D group I play with, I feel Alinua’s pain.
Well, not exactly the same. Healing is much more limited in D&D, especially when there’s a bard being played like a barbarian or something.
Tynan looks like the cooler dragon version of manectric
Tess: Body Transfer
Can this girlboss alone with friends in the city transport almost-corpses to the healing depot? Or will it be… too late!
That is a fair point Alinua, but you should heal Erin first. He is far more fragile than everyone else.
Anyone who’s ever played a healer in D&D can relate.
Alinua, just grow into your Megalinua shape with a hundred arms so that you can reach everywhere on the battlefield and heal everyone at once. Easy.
What do you mean, you have no such power? It’s just you never tried! Go! It’s Megalin’ time!
I have this creeping feeling that one of Tess or Erin is gonna do a heroic sacrifice
I just want a print of this page
I just binge-read the entire comic in a few weeks and am now caught up.
…now what do I do until the next update…?
Ah yes the pain of every partys healer, not being albe to be everywhere at once, I feel your pain Alinua,
-A DND Cleric
Especially in a party of gung ho Yahoos! (and I have be party healer for decades[at least two] in my groups).
Alinua really needs to learn some AOE heals for times like this.
