Hey you do a good most times and it still made sense, It’s still a worthy effort! Its when you mess up you often discover something new- which leads to better work when attended to with open heart and Mind, @Ongoing! Or so I think at least.
I shall now steal “You rhyme-wrecking cur”. *runs away with this delightful phrase, pauses to turn around and shout “I’ll credit you!” before disappearing in the sunset, cackling wildly*
Ah so the dragon will be gifted sapience once she leaves. I guess she represents higher thought while Walter represents the more basic hunger needed to live. I wonder who will show up. Micheal is busy and already knows, we know the eyes are too caught up in chasing Erin already. Interesting that he commands them all to gather but the lady couldn’t, perhaps she gave away her ability to Humans, or perhaps this is something only they are capable of through some aspect of their nature like elemental magic. Also good to see dragon lives.
That’s an interesting way of looking at it. I’d been wondering how the concepts of ‘hunger’ and ‘free thought’ were opposites, but I could definitely see a case for Walter to essentially represent the id, more “primitive” instincts, and the bottom of Mazlowe’s pyramid, while the Light Dragon represents the superego, abstract thoughts and ideals, and the higher levels of Mazlowe’s pyramid. Would also fit with cave corruption reverting people into something more animalistic, while the Light Dragon grants intelligence and free will.
I might also argue that “higher thought” really just equates to the creation or strengthening of a soul lattice, while “consumption” is really just the breaking down of soul lattices. And, as a bonus, I’ll bet that those two forces ALSO equate to confidence and stress, respectively, which would help explain why the Void Blob had trauma-inducing powers!
Hrrrmn. So Light might broadly be the formation of identity, while Darkness is the breaking down of an identity. Darkness is required in order to obtain nutrition through consumption since this is required for the consumed matter to give up its former identity and become part of the consumer.
My bet is that the Lady makes these things as avatars similar to the bodies of the gods. I don’t think the Lady invests them with independence deliberately, I think it happens naturally once her spirit leaves them, the same way Kendal came into being. If this happens regularly, it might be the source of all dragons.
Gods in aurora seem to have a hard time distinguishing between huans and don’t do well outside of their sphere of influence. Maybe humans as their emissaries or other such representative help to compensate for those inabilities. We ca all see and distinguish each other, moreover humans are not all tied down to one place. She might be stretched thin because of the nature of her authority. Presumably that’s souls where each alone is frail but together are strong. Maye she just has ahard time manifesting or staying cohesive, hence using vessels, champions, and many indirect representatives?
Making a risky prediction now: we don’t see head or tail of that dragon that “may” be persuaded to be an ally, until they swoop in at the darkest moment for a dramatic deus ex machina.
This interlude has reached coolness levels unseen since the Champion’s introduction.
Is that his name? Rip Michael, teach the angels how to fly with laser wings
Awww, poor dragonkins fall down! and then tied up! and somethings wrong with its poor self when drogonkins wakes up. Poor mistreated Dragon! Lady not nice to those she uses so! That’s no way to treat such majestic powerhouses as Dragons! But funny though.
According to Red, there are 7 aspects of the Light Dragon that can be ‘beared’. We know of Horns and Eyes (which might now be Theia). Perhaps Michael/The Champion is the bearer of her Wings? It would explain his ability to fly.
Now I wonder what the other aspects could be, and what their abilities might entail. Was Theia always the ‘Eyebearer’ or was that bestowed on her in the moment? Is she the only one who can identify Erin? That seems unlikely. Void Magic is very distinctive.
I hadn’t known that, but I remember page 1-22-37, when Falst and Danix were escaping and there was the glowy whitish-blue claw that got them out? Maybe Bearer of her Claws or something? It matches the Light dragon color.
That page confused me bc it came out of nowhere then just disappeared.
I didn’t know Theia was the Eyebearer. Maybe it’s a Junior Archivist role. Or something special granted to her? Does she keep that now that she left them?
I could be wrong but didn’t Falst do the claw thing? It has been theorized that he has some connection to the light dragon, and my own personal prediction is that his mother was Lady Huracan.
My personal favorite theory is that the Ferin were created by a follower of the light dragon, trying to cut people off from elemental magic and prevent that particular plan from coming to fruition, thus making all Ferin connected to the light dragon.
Ooooooh Flast being the Claw-bearer makes a lot of – well, ok, it really raises more questions than it answers, but it DOES answer at least one question!
The way the Lady said “one who bears my eyes” instead of “the bearer of my eyes” or such implies that Theia is one of multiple IMO. Unknown how many, or if all the aspects can have multiple bearers.
This made me realise something. There’s a popular (and reasonable) theory that Falst’s parents were paladins. Considering the colors his dad was wearing and the fact that his mom was in the position to get cave corrupted, it makes sense. Maybe Falst’s dad has the Lady’s claws? And the scene in the last chapter was a bit of divine intervention because she didn’t want one of her Sept’s kids to get got by a cave crawler? Or Falst was partially inducted when he was a kid and therefore has some abilities? I don’t know, I’m just throwing spaghetti at a wall here, but who knows? Maybe?
Ah! That’s my theory!
Yeah, Falst’s dad as the bearer of the Lady’s Claws would make for some tasty drama. As for Falst’s power in the last chapter, I reckon that was him unintentionally tapping into his laten Paladin powers and hearing the Lady for the first time; nothing special, just standard Paladin powers.
I don’t think L.D. is aware of Falst at the moment, otherwise she’d have mentioned him to Stefan, or used him to spy on Erin discretely. Reading back to 1-14-22 at Huracan’s records, it seems it takes a bit of time for people to fully commune with the Lady even after first hearing her voice, like Falst did back in the caves. He’s in the early stages, is not trying to be better at Paladin magic, and isn’t actively seeing out L.D., so it’s no wonder the Lady isn’t aware of him.
tbh as soon as i realized he might be communicating with anyone who bears the Lady’s power I immediately pictured Falst snapping back “SHUT UP I’M TRYING TO SLEEP!”
So I think, given that the Lady called Stefan the Crown of the Sept, I’m guessing that the Septrann is a group, presumably of people who bear the Lady’s various body parts, and may be called the Sept for short? I wonder if the Septrann is made of 7 members, or if the french word for 7 being in there is a complete coincidence since this is a fantasy world that presumably doesn’t speak french
We know that there are seven bearers of ‘parts’ of the Light Dragon per a tumblr ask, Stefan being the hornbearer for example, so I say that’s 100% for sure why it’s got ‘sept’ in it.
IDK Red’s linguistic background, but as someone whose been rewatching Game of Thrones recently, I tell you that, assuming she is involved in modern Western fantasy culture (mega yes) she doesn’t need to speak French to have the French word for ‘seven’ rattling around in her skull.
And, yes, they don’t speak French in Aurora, but neither do they speak English, right? They speak… Auroran? Translation on a narrative level, suspension of disbelief, yada yada.
You can do both, holding it in bondage is simply to make sure it doesn’t freak out and destroy a nearby settlement and get itself killed right after becoming suddenly sapient. I’m sure if the dragon said no and promised not to kill anyone they’d release it.
Honestly a part of me saw this and wants to believe the Paladins have been secretly hoarding a Dragon Army in preparation for the day the Void Dragon escapes from the Planet’s core.
And a part of me wonders if Erin’s going to be riding into battle alongside them. Given the free will and intelligence versus Id and instinct themes…He’d be firmly on the light side of things in that paradigm, which is fun!
Dragon: Ugh, my head. What happened? Where am I? Where’d that brash brass bully go?
Lady’s parting gift? Possible ally? I’m wondering if @Nim is on the money, that the Light Dragon is about higher thought and logic as opposed to the Void Dragon’s baser bodily cravings of hunger. If so, the setup reminds me of the story “The Goddess of Everything Else”, in that story, life was created by the Goddess of Cancer but it was the Goddess of Everything Else that convinced life to seek ideals of cooperation and harmony over base instinct.
It seems Stefan’s Septrenn may be competing with Shrike’s boys in quirky mini-boss squad role. The Septrenn would pack some flashy powers and potentially interesting tactics, but Shrike’s boys are established and interesting, and far move varied in viewpoints and agendas. Ah well, the more the merrier … for us of course, not the gang.
For anyone wondering why my comments have been getting infrequent as of late, I’ve got a crunch project right now at work so that’s taking up most of my would-be comment time. I’ll still be reading the comic, but with that taking up my attention, at least for the moment, my commenting will be a little spacer around here.
For mobile readers.

Oooooh
But I want to see Micheal again!!! He so cool
The dragon lives! But will be tied up
And the Septrenn need some time to catch up
I know, I know, it’s technically not a rhyme if you just repeat the same word.
Hey you do a good most times and it still made sense, It’s still a worthy effort! Its when you mess up you often discover something new- which leads to better work when attended to with open heart and Mind, @Ongoing! Or so I think at least.
You fiend! You villain! You rhyme-wrecking cur!
It’s poetry. Not all couplets have to rhyme. Just say it was intentional and no-one can can check you on it.
I shall now steal “You rhyme-wrecking cur”. *runs away with this delightful phrase, pauses to turn around and shout “I’ll credit you!” before disappearing in the sunset, cackling wildly*
It’s just British word play, but quite witty!
ahh. bearer of horns.
and thank goodness the dragon ain’t dying, and it ain’t new)
and if he’s crown of the sept, then he’s the leader of the septrenn right? seeing the same words here, might be a description of his position
Ah, it did survive! Neat, that is one sturdy dragon.
Cool Visuals, makes sense with the whole, him holding the horns of LD
*grins*

Perhaps, if she gave her horns to him to bear, she herself does not bear them anymore? Maybe that’s why her abilities are diminished?
That’s an interesting way of looking at it. Oh my god, she’s a primordial therapist, no wonder she’s exhausted.
Oh dear… the perfect counter to the Floof Squad. 😆

Hope the dragon likes the gift. We do not want a repeat of Cinderella’s Traumatized Mice in dragon form.

Thanks so much for sharin’ that! It fixed a rough mornin’ for me!

It’s going to eat Erin. The ultimate insult to the Dragon of Consumption.
Or the Paladin’s will try and set the dragon on Erin, but it’ll see Tess in the party, scream “YOU!”, and attack her, completely ignoring Erin.
This is perfect.
That is one ot THE MOST funniest comments ever!!! 😂
YES! Yes, to ALL of that 🤣

The sheer courage or Red, to go with “FWUNCH” as the sound effect

Maybe multiple people can bear a part at a time. LD described June as *one* who bears her eyes, but not *the* one.
This made me realise something. There’s a popular (and reasonable) theory that Falst’s parents were paladins. Considering the colors his dad was wearing and the fact that his mom was in the position to get cave corrupted, it makes sense. Maybe Falst’s dad has the Lady’s claws? Maybe it would be easier to to convince if you have it good instead of tying it up. Just a thought.

Are they called “Caleds” because all they do is win, win, win, no matter what?
By far the best comment here lmfao
Will the Caleds turn themselves into evil pepper pots to exterminate the enemies of the Paladins?
Floof Squad would need a doctor, in that case
He seems nice.
Song for this interlude: “Curses”- The Crane Wives

Omg the first panel is GORGEOUS!!!
Getting strong Grandia II vibes for some reason.
Parting gift. Sentience? Possibly? Now who else do know who might have gotten that gift from the lady.
