“Young man if you keep sabotaging my fight scenes we are going to have WORDS” For some reason I imagined those lines coming from Alinua (Elena ?)
Poor Kendal. He’s so tired of Gleicann (like and ?) trying to interact with him on God Logic™.
Also, mainly leaning towards a subtrope i just call “child-like paragon”. Relevant details to said trope: capable naivete, strong empathy/mercy for some things, a feeling/nagging that there’s some standard/expectation that they’re supposed to be
Jeez, you can barely make out the runes on that lacrima.
It looks to me like Gleicann is trying to suss out what Kendal is. I have a feeling that he’s going to pass that info (or at least some of it) to other gods that the squad may bump into.
So…one of the reasons he doesn’t want to confront Falst is because he doesn’t want the others to get involved; and that’s ok, we already knew about this complex of his, and Gleicann certainly isn’t helping with all that “godly etiquette” stuff…
Poor Kendal, he’s so confused 🙁
I’m kind of in a funk today so idk if I’m just very sensitive rn but Kendall’s reasoning here legit makes me wanna cry because it’s so beautiful. I was really into playing soccer growing up, but I found my little league teammates really infuriating. One time, one of my teammates straightup kicked a ball at some kid on the other team’s face. They all wanted to treat the opposition like the Enemy, but that’s so unnecessary. The stakes are higher for Kendall, of course, but it’s the same principle and I really admire that kind of integrity.

Well, kudos to all the people who said that Dr.Jolon was probably evil. His pupils were glowing that last panel, so that’s either good or reeeeally bad.
Also it looked like he was taking a call and I don’t really know how communication lacrimas work but i just thought it was interesting.
Given the technology level on Aurora, I highly doubt phones are a thing
I think communication lacrimas might work like the palantirs from Lord of the Rings, except it’s just sound instead of sight; you stand near one lacrima, say something, and your message will be projected out whichever other lacrima it’s paired with.
While fight scenes can look cool, and it’s true that some enemies leave you with no choice but to fight, I have to say I agree with Kendal in that the first answer to every problem shouldn’t have to be “HULK SMASH!”
If he is evil, I suspect he’s either creating chimeras to drum up business for clinic, or he secretly discriminates against ferin, or possibly both.
Of course, if the former is true, then Falst probably isn’t creating chimeras, which contradicts another theory I support (namely, that Falst is creating chimeras to git gud at complex life magic for a ferin ‘cure’)
You know, I wonder if the good Doctor might be pulling a Jekyll and Hyde dealio. Only the other way around, so it’s actually more like Beast from X-men. I don’t know if a life lacrima can be used that way, but if humans are prejudiced against ferin, it would make sense for a ferin to try to look human. And if the lacrima stopped being as effective over time, it would explain why he was so desperate to get his hands on Erin’s books.
Hang Jolon doesn’t appear until after Falst did whatever he was doing with his lacrima.
My only problem with this is that I can’t see Falst\Jolon join the party if they’re making the chimeras
I had a sense it was around then, because it’s usually waiting after I finish the first med pass, but if I have to be awake all night I may as well keep hitting refresh like a pigeon pecking for crumbs.
Useful for setting my alarm for the one update a week I might be asleep for, though… 😀
I’m so glad I live in Europe. I’m usually able to catch the comic without needing to wake up really early, or pull an all-nighter. Here I am able to see the new page around 12 to 1 PM, depending on if it’s summer or winter.
The lighting effects of this chapter have been amazing, the red moon glow on the trees, the white moon glow where Jolon’s place is, Gleicann’s Kirby dots, the lacrimas glow, Ali’s light show. All great stuff.
Kendal certainly takes a more cautious and thoughtful approach to this than Vash who ran straight into the Collectors trap without a second thought.
Yeah, even without Vash’s collective knowledge Kendal isn’t stupid, a little naive in places but not stupid, and I do hope these events remind them of that.
Shonen protagonists all around the world know that fighting is the only way to resolve problems. Even rifts in friendship are repaired by punching and kicking the friends in question.
There is no excuse for you, even if you are only nine days old.
Well they sure did dodge those ringwraiths that were waiting in the tavern.
Yes. This is a good comment.

I just…
✨God Logic™✨
Wow, he is such a paragon! I love it! Also snarky looking gleicann is one the best things ever
Also, mainly leaning towards a subtrope i just call “child-like paragon”. Relevant details to said trope: capable naivete, strong empathy/mercy for some things, a feeling/nagging that there’s some standard/expectation that they’re supposed to be

I am definitely adding “Child-like Paragon” to my mental encyclopedia of tropes & subtropes. Thank you.

Love the last panel of Alinua and Errin getting in on the action.
Also Kendal should ask his friends to not assume he “does’t get” some thinges :3
I really just want a png of snarky gleicann, just without text. It would be an amazing sticker
Sneaky Floof
You can tell Erin just got dressed up xD
So…one of the reasons he doesn’t want to confront Falst is because he doesn’t want the others to get involved; and that’s ok, we already knew about this complex of his, and Gleicann certainly isn’t helping with all that “godly etiquette” stuff…

99% of main protags: “WAR!!!”
Vash, an intellectual: “How about instead… peace?”
Kendal, going against what Vash would do: Lets NOT punch our problems in the face.
Everyone else: PROTAGANIST PUUNCH!!

Meanwhile, Erin’s grumpily thinking, “Dragging me out in the middle of the night… Kendal had better have a good explanation…”
Also, it’s confirmed: to most, Kendal gives off Big Himbo Energy

Are they? Or is it just the nature of the amazing art? Every character sort of has that.
Also, you can check. His eyes were always like that.

*Sound instead of sight AND sound, is what I meant
…Huh. Well, speaking from the future, this sure aged well.
It looks more to me that he was adjusting his glasses.

Doctor guy is so totally evil it’s not even funny

Me, catching a tiny glimpse of Erin after a several update Lack Of Erin: FINALLY
You know, I wonder if the good Doctor might be pulling a Jekyll and Hyde dealio. Only the other way around, so it’s actually more like Beast from X-men. Ooh.. yes. As False he can give in to his base urges (the darker uses of life magic) and as the good Dr Jolon he can heal the people he injures.
Hang Jolon doesn’t appear until after Falst did whatever he was doing with his lacrima.
My only problem with this is that I can’t see Falst\Jolon join the party if they’re making the chimeras
Something about the last two panels is just *chef kiss* so good
Sagra is definitely on to something
OK. so I work night shifts but does anyone else spend update nights refreshing the page? Just me?
If you didn’t notice, the comic always releases at 4:00 am Central Time, the process is automated.

TL;DR: Man of Corpse needs to explain what he is, again. Plant man tests him and he aces it. His corpse-sense tells him something is wrong.
Kendal, you are a disgrace to your kind.
