Ok! I’ve been seeing some theories about the elemental magus being possessed by something from the middle of the storm, and I think that’s true! B u t I also think that he’s joining the party, and that minor detail will just be a source of shenanigans. Or conflict. This theory contains exactly zero textual evidence, so go ahead and ignore it, but red has said some stuff that leads me to believe this. First off! This recent tweet. https://mobile.twitter.com/AuroraWebcomic/status/1210110663097536512 it’s a screenshot of a text with a bit of a drawing and a mess and saying “How dare you use my body for a Disney princess pose. Sounds pretty possessioney. No bear with me on this next one- red has said she uses her characters in trope talks if they fit the archetype. During the section on “the I know you’re in there somewhere” fight in the power of friendship episode, https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=C-cRPmVOtAk&t=559s , we can see some characters that look suspiciously like the elemental magus and Kendal (and possibly unnamed character teased in some drawings.) with the elemental magus having golden eyes when possessed and blue eyes when fighting it off. Now moving on to the party member thing! This tweet: https://mobile.twitter.com/AuroraWebcomic/status/1167646818483789824 where she says “wow I can’t wait to show this killer character dynamic in arc #5!” Who could our hero’s possibly meet this chapter? I realize this says arc not chapter so it’s not very compelling evidence on its own, but when you factor in this tweet, https://mobile.twitter.com/AuroraWebcomic/status/1159671678038937600 which says “I’m trying to storyboard a major character introduction right now and instead two characters have derailed my whole thing to swap notes about magic and show off” major character! Talking about magic and showing off! I rest my case.
I support all of what you said, but I also think I know what got the elemental mage. Red has locked the page on the seventh element, which I believe lies at the center of the storm because the mages map has a circle in the center, and the seventh element would be like his kryptonite because he wouldn’t have had time to master it, he probably gains control quickly, after all he does have phenomenal natural talent. And the dragon the six elementals fought has to be made of something. I also think that alunia saw the life elemental in overdrive, also red did a nice job picking the point the mage went in, furthest from life the most dangerous one and in the most explored area.
he’s doing that heroic pose in the hope that it’ll intimidate the black fire
It could work. After all, I’m intimidated.
I’ve said that I get a bit of an Exalted vibe from this comic.
From what I understand, intimidating the fire is something you could totally do.
Kendal stared over the edge, into the crater broiling with shadows.
A name echoes from the remnants of Vash’s memory.
“Dark Floof.”
Greetings, Mr. Semi-Nerdy-But-Mostly-Arrogant Dark Floof!
the silhouette looks kinda like WuKong
Dude… WHY!!!
Is the guy moving or is it just me?
Nerd Floof has evolved into Dark Floof!
Uh oh, looks like Faux-kenstein’s hubris caught up to him
Aaaaaaaand like that im caught up. I would literally sell someones soul for more pages…not mine, but…someones.
Welcome! You’ll never escape.
This is a plan without a flaw nor any possibility of error!
Dat horse… mount-face.

wHY DIDN’T I CHECK FOR TYPOS??? Sorry! I wish I could edit it but the website doesn’t let you
I think the “how dare you use my body” comment is Vash somehow seeing Kendal
Could be!

Aww, the mount likes being pet.
TL;DR: Corpse floof reminds Floof mcNicetats that he’s shatter resistant and has an extended warranty.
“Okay, I’m durable, yes, ’tis true… but maybe not THAT durable.”
