“Mr. Jeff Glorty Pants Le Grande, please refrain from eye contact in future encounters with the Floof Squad™ it has proven to cause temporary psychological damage, and as such, must be carefully controlled. If this behavior is not stopped at once, we will have no choice but to kick your behind.
Sincerest thanks,
The Floof Squad™
I mean I’ve been calling it the Voidhammer Amalgamation, but I’m the only one who’s been calling it that, so much like the aurora tags on tumblr, I guess there’s gonna be many different names for That Thing.
Personally I don’t give things names, if you think of it as a character file I tend to put names in the trivia section where they slowly work their way up to the title after a long time knowing them, which is why I tend to forget them easily. Instead I use my impression of their appearance to identify them, so its name for me would be something along the lines of “Visceral Disgust”.
I came up with Jeff, mostly because we are calling the Void Dragon Walter and it could be fun to have a theme. I really dont care too much, but it was funny to see others call it Jeff
I’ve been personally referring to it as “the Mistwraith”, since it bears some resemblance to said creature from Brandon Sanderson’s ‘Mistborn’ series. I know at least one other person has also commented on the resemblance, as well.
I feel like it looks a lot like the Blot from Heart of Elynthi. For those who don’t know Heart of Elynthi is a D&D game run by JoCat in which Red plays, you can find it on YouTube.
This is the fourth time Dainix has attacked an enemy from behind and the fourth time he used fire in the bunker when he clearly stated this to be a no-fire zone. Neat coincidence
I think it a testament to how much Dainix cares for Falst that he breaks a fundamental rule cave exploration lore for Falst. They are brothers thru hard and desperate trials. There are no atheists in foxholes when bullets are flying so close to your head.
Tess would think it’s the coolest thing ever because GUYS, did they see their character designs? Did they see TESS’S character design?? And look! There’s Tess punching a dragon!! So cool.
erin might have that reaction initially, but wouild be humbled by the actual information. either that or the scratch at the back of his head over what Kendal really is would be satisfied. Also he’d have a lot more caution/tact with Alvina.
Goop: (stares) Taste the painbow.
Dainix: (fire claw) Taste the flamebow.
Interesting bit of SFX work in panel 2; the start of the WHAM! is very wobbly and double imaged while the end, in the wall, is more solid. Nice show of both the force of the blow and the wall absorbing it; you can even see the cracks in it in panel 3 above Falst.
Falst’s face in panels 5 and 6 is just heartbreaking; pained, weak, and tired, all of which both in body and mind. This facility was already testing Falst’s physical and mental limits before, with the cave crawler attacks on his torso and psyche. I hope Dainix’s other arm is still normal and can support Falst, because he’s not going anywhere in the state he’s in.
Ok, soulfire can burn obsidian ghouls, gods, and can even stomach void attacks; it must do something painful to the slime … right?
What I find most interesting this page is the Trauma Soulgaze apparently isn’t an incidental thing or a self defense mechanism – our big gooey friend’s initiating even once it’s pretty thoroughly beaten Falst, and is starting a Trauma Soulgaze rather than just gooping him. Maybe that’s what it feeds on? On the plus side, as least it’s not going to be absorbing anyone like a dnd ooze, and it’s a lot easier to rescue a friend from a Trauma Soulgaze. On the minus side, there’s the TRAUMA 🙁
Based on those exposed ribs, I think your comment on it not absorbing people is a bit premature. On the other hand, Dainix is clearly on fire now, so it might not get a chance to try eating Falst anyway.
I mean, it’s not absorbing people IMMEDIATELY. Absorbing something after they’re all dead and trauma’d out like licking the crumbs off a cupcake wrapper is a LOT better than absorbing as an attack or an initial method of eating, since the main characters are main characters the fight likely wouldn’t get that far. And if I’ve learned anything about DND oozes it’s that it’s a lot harder to fight something when your friend is inside it.
I thought it would just try to pull Falst into itself; this is worse. This is way worse. This thing is trying to BREAK Falst first, and Falst looks more scared than I’ve ever seen him in this comic -you can really tell he thinks he’s about to die. Good job for the suffering Red
Seeing Falst go from evil villain taunting to lying on the floor begging to be spared another dose of the TRAUMA RAY (TM) is so heartrending. It’s a good thing that he’s not alone.
Ok. so I agree with you, its very sad and I personally want to go and beat up Jeff so it stops hurting Falst but calling that attack the TRAMA RAY (TM) makes me laugh so much. (I love this comment section)
The gooplet’s multicolored eye effect in the second to last panel hasn’t gotten the attention it deserves from this comments section. I think i’m the first here to say that it’s a truly the most beautiful trauma indicator in this chapter so far.
Three things of note with the…Jeff? Horrible goop? 1: its eye is very pretty, amazing work Red, but also different from how it was before. The last two times there was at least an iris; here, there’s only full rainbow and it feels like staring into a slowly charging ion cannon straight out of a sci-fi. The iris might be indicative of the Jeff ‘perceiving’, so to speak. There’s an iris when it’s looking at all your past traumas (while making you relive them, of course), and ominous rainbow when it’s about to eat you, I guess. 2: holy moly do you see those bone things right under its eye?? They looked like ribs? Or maybe teeth? Like a circular maw full of teeth? I hate my imagination sometimes. 3: this is at least the second villainous chin grab in this comic and I’m not sure if I should pretend-shake my fist at Red or congratulate her on a job well done.
For mobile readers.

Smh he shows no concern for his teammate’s eyebrows
I mean in this situation i feel like it’s his eyebrows or his life.
smh my head
Does Falst have eyebrows? That is the real question
Aurora Question #80: I have yet to see a name for this thing (Though it could be I just missed it). So, what shall we call goopy le grande?
goopy le grande it is!
i’ve seen a few people calling it “Glort”
I think I’ve seen some of us call him Jeff.
So far, the nicknames are:
Glort
Mr Gloopy-pants
Jeff
And now, apparently, also Goopy la Grande.
Mr Jeff glorty-pants le grande?
that’s it that’s the name

I think Jeff is the funniest and the most sarcastic but I like them all. (smile)
I call it Goh in my head, short for Goo of Horrors
I like to call it GO AWAY PLEASE
I mean I’ve been calling it the Voidhammer Amalgamation, but I’m the only one who’s been calling it that, so much like the aurora tags on tumblr, I guess there’s gonna be many different names for That Thing.
Jeff was the first name I’ve heard pitched, but Goopy la Grande is the funniest thus far. Jeff is still a favorite. 🙂
Let’s just call it The Thing- it’s similar enough
Personally I don’t give things names, if you think of it as a character file I tend to put names in the trivia section where they slowly work their way up to the title after a long time knowing them, which is why I tend to forget them easily. I’ve been calling it Glorpy Monster- or something like that
I’ve been personally referring to it as “the Mistwraith”, since it bears some resemblance to said creature from Brandon Sanderson’s ‘Mistborn’ series. I know at least one other person has also commented on the resemblance, as well.
That would be me.
Maybe Aberration or something, referring to Red’s past comment of Chromatic Aberration.
I feel like it looks a lot like the Blot from Heart of Elynthi. For those who don’t know Heart of Elynthi is a D&D game run by JoCat in which Red plays, you can find it on YouTube.
Im calling it Chromatic Aberration, seeing reds comment on the last page I instantly thought “oh so THATS what this is….”
Ooooh, that’s very cool too, actually!
I like both “Jeff” and “Voidhammer Amalgamation”
This is the fourth time Dainix has attacked an enemy from behind and the fourth time he used fire in the bunker when he clearly stated this to be a no-fire zone. Neat coincidence
To be fair, they are now near a cave, so there’s lukely air flow at least in this chamber
I think it a testament to how much Dainix cares for Falst that he breaks a fundamental rule cave exploration lore for Falst. They are brothers thru hard and desperate trials. There are no atheists in foxholes when bullets are flying so close to your head.
There are absolutely atheists in foxholes.
You must have talked to different veterans then.
of all the ways red has hurt me this arc this page takes the cake
I can’t see if anyone else has posted the alt text of the image, so if I am the first, it’s “AND IT’S DAINIX WITH THE STEEL CHAIR”.
And as I reload the page, the comment section appears. Oops
Dainix back at it again with attacking someone (something?) from offscreen✨
Anonymous Aurora Question 2: If the characters from Aurora lived in the real world and read Aurora, what would they think of it?
Erin would be insulted that he isn’t the main character. *Clearly*, his story arc is the most significant in the grander scope (in his mind at least).
Tess would think it’s the coolest thing ever because GUYS, did they see their character designs? Did they see TESS’S character design?? And look! There’s Tess punching a dragon!! So cool.
Falst would see that his tragic backstory was planned all along, use every means possible to track down Red, and then punch her in the face.
erin might have that reaction initially, but wouild be humbled by the actual information. either that or the scratch at the back of his head over what Kendal really is would be satisfied. Also he’d have a lot more caution/tact with Alvina.

Falst: *yelling* ILL TASTE THE RAINBOW (runs away)
goop: omg congrats on coming out
Quiz: Will the shippers be normal about panel 6?
A: No.
B: No.
Are you kidding? We haven’t been normal about it since the start of this entire arc.

Oh shit on mobile that looks like just a fire but nope that’s a crucible hand ?
He’s been beaten, betrayed and lays on the ground
But his friend sees fit to come around!
When did its eyes turn yellow??? They weren’t yellow before, has Falst’s angst supercharged it or something?
I don’t know, but it’s also stopped screaming. Probably connected.
Citing the alt text from at least one previous page:
Studio audience cheers!
can we get some alinua in here for falst please he has All of the broken bones
cool art
heck yeah, fire solves everything!
Uh oh that’s a crucible hand

YEEEEEEEEEESSSSSS FINALLY IM SURE THIS WILL DEFINITELY NOT END BADLY HAHA :)))
TL;DR: Talk about cutting it close. Looking to be a hero, huh, junior arsonist?

Note Falst’s hand in the second–to–last panel.
He’s. still. fighting.
it has bones it has bones it has bonesssssss
YEAH!!!!!
Plot twist: It’s Roy Mustang
Heck, I wish someone would hold me the way that thing is holding Falst in panels 5 and 6.
Dainix: Okay, that’s it. Tactical homicide it is.

This whole time the spooky gloop monster just wanted to give the catboy a headpat, who knew.
I’m getting flashbacks to Kendall’s void and glory hands, but it’s obviously unrelated.
