I would say the meaning of life is the primordial animating force, or possibly the will to see That which it has become continue, though one could also say life’s meaning is what those experiencing life choose to make it
A quick Google search indicates that the word life comes from Old High German “lib” which (also according to Google) supposedly is properly translated to continuance or perseverance. No idea if any of that is right tho.
Life means something has the following characteristics:
– Having the ability to regulate internal environment
– Being composed of cells
– Having the ability to transform energy
– Growing over time
– Having the ability to adapt to its external environment
– Responding to stimuli
– Being able to reproduce
If a being is born and experiencing the functions of Life then even if parts are misfunctioning or destroyed but can eat, breath, move and do the other functions of life then that being exists until those other functions (as listed by @Salem) stop happening [no longer keeping internal environment going, not able to transfer energy internally, no longer able respond to stimuli, decaying and breaking down on a cellular level]. Sorry Aristotle got lose in my brain, still arguing with Plato in my headspace while I typing. @Salem was providing a very Greek definition of being alive. (blush put hands behind back guiltily and raise one heal up to waggle sheepishly while toes are on ground)
Ohhhhhh, I forgot that Falst STILL hasn’t gotten his arm fixed. Like dude, you have magic healing friends, what are you doing? (Being a reclusive nerd, that’s what he’s doing)
I thought the same, and then I remembered that magically healing Ferin is impossible for almost everyone apart from Alinua who was busy healing Kendal until she was exhausted.
I’m pretty sure that’s not true. Ferin are magically inert in that they can’t learn magic, right? “There are no Ferin mages.”
Although Erin also explains that Ferin as just as magically resistant as they are physically sturdy. This doesn’t mean they’re magic-proof by any means, and doesn’t mean that their bodies would reject healing, since Life magic seems to play by its own rules when it comes to soul barriers and magical resistance. My guess is that Ferin biology will reject any form of magic that alters their body, but not magic that simply accelerates the natural healing/growth process, since Alinua has never shown any sort of trouble healing Falst before.
Three reasons, I think;
1- Falst thinks he needs to handle everything himself and never show weakness
2- Alinua was busy with Kendal
3- Falst would rather die than ask Erin for help
Falst is more a survivor exploiting his environment and natural talents. Dainix is a trained and prepared processional fighter and scout who tries to coolly plan out his actions with others. Dainix is the natural foil to Falst’s wild, instinctual and fiercely independent nature. Popcorn anyone? I have faith our floofy bois can survive but it would funnier if they just barely escape with lives and bond over their shared shame in the harrowing travails in the dark tunnels…
Here’s a very very cool detail I noticed
Sound effects related to Falst (him snaping webs, scratching, etc) are written in yellow, and for Dainix it’s the same thing in orange. Any other sound related to this “dungeon” is grey.
I think it’s safe to assume that Falst has just passed out (my guy, this is like the fifth crack we hear from your arm) and as he loses his consciousness, the sound effect fades from yellow to gray. I think that’s pretty neat
On another note, I know Falst is sturdy and quick to recover and all, but if it was a side character falling like that I’d thoroughly believe they were dead on impact. Poor boy.
And there Falst injury gets even worse. Good thing Alinua rests now, she will have a lot of healing to do when the boys finally get out of the dungeon.
Still not the most painful fall Falst has ever experienced; I’d say that was Zuurith prison.
There is something so unexpectedly visceral and painful when Red breaks out the red SFX; really throws the tried and tested “CRACK” into a new, raw context. I can see why Dainix and Falst are given orange and yellow coloured SFX to retain the colour red’s power.
Aiming for the other main eye Dainix? Kinda ironic but it makes sense; injure the creature enough that it decides this meal isn’t worth it and leaves. However, if this spider has been void influenced, it may not behave that way.
Yep, that arm is still injured, granted the best one for the job, Alinua, was busy with Kendal, is now exhausted physically, and is too far away to help. Fingers crossed he stays conscious through the pain, if only to interact with Ancient tech to exit the place.
Perhaps this Ancient bunker has some sort of Infirmary? Everything else is clearly built to last, so if Falst can find and activate some sort of medical droid, he might not need Alinua’s help (not as much, anyway).
I mean, the Ancients themselves are magically inert, right, like the Ferin? That’s why Falst is being mistaken as one. But they found ways to exploit elemental magic through engineering, I’m guessing; hence the lighting-spitting-spider-robot that landed these two down here in the first place. If the Ancients could have constructed a similar machine capable of channeling ‘Life Auroras’, they could conceivably automate medical procedures, similar to Dr. Jolon’s lacrima.
I really appreciate when characters get injured from things that no one usually cares about in fiction but definitely would injure you in real life, like yeah! Swinging around with a giant spider dangling from your arm is probably gonna dislocate your shoulder!
Well Red has certainly upped the danger level with Falst being knocked out, possible dead, and further damaged and Dainix hung up with spear entangled in web. What next?
Evel Knievel (American, well USA born stunt rider) broke 433 bones, which are more bones then a human body has on average, be a factor of two almost. The only bone Knievel claims he did not break was his neck bone, though I could not find evidence he broke his inner ear bones {three per inner ear} But if Red says Falst has broken bones on multiple occasions who am I to disagree? Just some U.S.A. trivia I want to pass on…
I don’t know if Ferin have the same bone structure as humans, but my bet is 193. Otherwise known as all of them except the spine. Breaking that would probably kill him. Or at least paralyze? I don’t know; I failed Biology.
Falst: Oh. Right. My arm’s broken.
I wouldn’t be surprised if, after the spider is defeated, Dainix does a bit of a lecture about how getting healing promptly is important while Falst tries his best not to kill him.
Oof. The last time Falst took a fall like that, Alinua was right there to heal him; not so this time. Is Dainix going to have to carry him out of the nightmare bunker, or will the two of them have to stay put and hold out until the others realize they’ve gone missing and stage a rescue operation?
What do you think that big round room was originally designed for?
A) Planetarium
B) Prison cell for giant spiders
C) Research laboratory for studying giant spiders
D) Sound stage
E) Fully immersive cinema
100% it’s the cinema. The ancients had to do something with their time. Falst and Dainix will probably find DVDs of Mean Girls, Mamma Mia and… Spiderman.
Okay I need to stop with the cheap puns on this page.
True, but almost any predator will retreat if injured, especially if something proves able to injure it more than once. Most hunting predators will actually retreat if you so much as go on offense At All (there’s a famous demonstration of a remote-control sub scaring off a shark by constantly advancing on it – this in spite of the shark being big enough to fit the whole sub in its mouth). Of course all this goes out the window if a) this is its nest, b) its young are nearby, c) it’s intelligent, and/or d) some kind of mental corruption in this magical world of mystery and wonderment.
My hope for this arc is they kill the spider and befriend the ssssSSSTARVING potentially-a-ferin by sharing the plentiful spider-meat.
Wow, I only now realized Dainix crossbow actually hurt the spider a few pages ago before it broke. Had to go and check what he meant with taking out the other eye.

Aurora Question #42: What is the meaning of Life
I think she wants to see the world that she has made. the collector is wrong about her motives. (also good pun lol)
I dunno, it would’ve been simpler to know what the actual question was
42
I was wandering wether I shoul reply that 😀
I heard 42 wasn’t an answer; it was an error code.
Finally, a correct answer
I would say the meaning of life is the primordial animating force, or possibly the will to see That which it has become continue, though one could also say life’s meaning is what those experiencing life choose to make it
Property that characterizes organisms whose existence evolves from birth to death.
Life is what you make of it. As one wizard said: we only have control of using our time between our birth and death.
Eldritch Floof-Monster. Enough Said.
There is no meaning. And within that simple truth lies the one true freedom: to live for no other reason than living.
Garlic bread
As an asexual i approve this answer
…perhaps there are multiple answers, and this and 42 are some of them
Most definetly. Now I’m hungry 🙁
A quick Google search indicates that the word life comes from Old High German “lib” which (also according to Google) supposedly is properly translated to continuance or perseverance. No idea if any of that is right tho.
That’s an interesting insight too!

– Having the ability to regulate internal environment
– Being composed of cells
– Having the ability to transform energy
– Growing over time
– Having the ability to adapt to its external environment
– Responding to stimuli
– Being able to reproduce
Problem: if you are infertile, are you not alive?
If a being is born and experiencing the functions of Life then even if parts are misfunctioning or destroyed but can eat, breath, move and do the other functions of life then that being exists until those other functions (as listed by @Salem) stop happening [no longer keeping internal environment going, not able to transfer energy internally, no longer able respond to stimuli, decaying and breaking down on a cellular level]. It seems Falst has acted sarcastic too long
His arm breaks in full, him not healing was wrong
well. that’s broken.
Wait, why would it be? Was that established somewhere?

that arm just cant catch a break, huh
Actually, it CAN get a break (dudun-stch!)
… I’ll just see myself out, shall I?
We can’t take these cracks. Your interest in puns is going to fracture the community.
Tibia honest, I find this very humerus.
I swear, Dainix really is Marge-Simpson-ing these weapons out of his hair or something. I see why he counts as ‘The Big Guy’ now
Falst is more a survivor exploiting his environment and natural talents. Dainix is a trained and prepared processional fighter and scout who tries to coolly plan out his actions with others. I just checked, looks like you got that! Both you and the Boss are brilliant!
Aww shucks 😀 thank you!!
On another note, I know Falst is sturdy and quick to recover and all, but if it was a side character falling like that I’d thoroughly believe they were dead on impact. Poor boy.

…I think?
His arm is cracking.
It goes slack as Dainix screams.
Breath broke on impact.
Will someone PLEASE get this boi some 1st Aid?!
I am afraid the Boy Scout is busy right now, something about being stuck to the wall…
I really appreciate when characters get injured from things that no one usually cares about in fiction but definitely would injure you in real life, like yeah! Swinging around with a giant spider dangling from your arm is probably gonna dislocate your shoulder!

there is no way Falst is dead; he jumped off a mountain and survived long enough for Alinua to heal him
Let’s play a fun game called How Many Bones Can Falst Break Before He Becomes Unable To Function?
im betting… 26?? idk how many are in the human body and im willing to bet that he’s reckless enough to break a lot
My bets are on 206.
all of them
Evel Knievel (American, well USA born stunt rider) broke 433 bones, which are more bones then a human body has on average, be a factor of two almost. TL;DR: That’s gotta hurt…
In DnD DM’s voice: And over here we can see the prime reason why every party member should have at least one long rest between adventures.
Snap Crack Whip Wham, the unsuccessful precursor to Snap Crackle Pop.
**Snap Crack Slip Whip Wham
And that is beautiful. I needed to see that today
And that is beautiful. I needed to see that today
sorry if this is a double, it’s being wack
Falst: Oh. Right. My arm’s broken.
I wouldn’t be surprised if, after the spider is defeated, Dainix does a bit of a lecture about how getting healing promptly is important while Falst tries his best not to kill him.
i dont think shoulders should make that noise. that is generally not a good sign.
Oof. The last time Falst took a fall like that, Alinua was right there to heal him; not so this time. Is Dainix going to have to carry him out of the nightmare bunker, or will the two of them have to stay put and hold out until the others realize they’ve gone missing and stage a rescue operation?
I don’t think anyone has said this already, but the paneling on this page is just *chef’s kiss*
“I am here to rescue you, please do not resist.”
What do you think that big round room was originally designed for?

F) All of the above ++
Take out another eye? Spiders have 8.

Crack is bad.
falst really should have gotten that arm healed
unrelated to the page, happy pokemon day
It is related to your username, though!
Gnn!
AAH-!
Ah!
augh!!
staying alive! staying alive!
Please tell me Dainix is going to bridal-carry Falst out of this dome while Falst weakly objects. Please, S’il vous plait?
