Aurora Question #31: I’ve gotten the classes and statblocks for most of the main characters, so today’s question: What is everyone’s alignment? (To clarify, I do mean the alignment chart with Good, Evil, Chaotic, Lawful, etc.)
Kendal should be lawful good. Erin started as lawful neutral but is becoming lawful good, Falst might be chaotic good as well as Tess, although he started of as chaotic neutral, for Alinua lawful good might fit, just like Dainix, but I’m not quite sure. Life seems to have a plan, even if we don’t get ist, so she’s probably lawful good? Or lawful neutral? For V.D., he’s totally lawful evil. Zuurith is technically lawful neutral even though we don’t like him that much. Tynan is chaotic evil. The Collector is lawful evil. Shrike is I think chaotic neutral. June is probably lawful neutral. Correct me if I’m wrong. Did I forget someone important?

Kendal: Lawful Good
Alinua: Neutral good (leaning chaotic)
Erin: Lawful neutral (leaning good)
Falst: Chaotic neutral (leaning good)
Tess: Chaotic good
Dainix: Neutral good
The Collector: True neutral (leaning evil)
Void Dragon: Chaotic evil
Vash: Neutral good (leaning chaotic)
Idk about many others, but Shrike is chaotic neutral and June is lawful neutral leaning good!
Kendal Lawful good
Alinua neutral good
Erin True neutral
Dainix Lawful good
Falst Chaotic good (sometime chaotic neutral)
Tess Neutral good
June: Lawful good (maybe lawful neutral/neutral good. Depending what we see of her in the future)
Shrike Lawful neutral/True neutral
Vash Chaotic good
Collector Chaotic neutral
Tynan Chaotic evil
Caliban & Tahraim ???
Life: ???
Void dragon: chaotic evil
Light dragon: lawful good (tho we haven’t really seem her yet so count this as speculation)
I am not as much of a fan of the D&D Alignment chart as I was when I was younger but in the interest of exploring characters(general comments afterthoughts):
Kendal- Good (at least in intent, confused along the lawful/chaotic axel?, idealistic in viewpoint)
Alinua- Good (leaning to the emotional/pragmatic side, chaotic according to D&D convention of elves would fit well)
Erin- Neutral (leaning to good & law and tending to Idealistic [vs pragmatic view])
Dianix- Lawful Good (leaning to pragmatic survivor slightly)
Falst- Chaotic Neutral (strongly leaning to pragmatic survivor)
Tess- Neutral Good (leaning to pragmatic slightly)
Shrike- Neutral (leaning to pragmatic survivor hard, in an entertaining way)
Trusk- Neutral Good (leaning to pragmatic survivor oldster slightly [I like Trusk, OK?])
June, J.A- Lawful (leaning strongly to idealistic)(as of now Good aligned if she is a static character).
Tynon- Evil Chaotic (leaning to pragmatic)
The Collector-Evil (tending to selfish idealistic and Law?)
Void Dragon, ‘Walter’- Chaotic Evil (tending to selfish pragmatic or Hungry)
The gods and Lady Huracan- (varies but agree with Creature Tamer that ??? best represents Life at this point)
Red- (what? suggest my GM’s alignment? I admire Tamer’s boldness but would only give it snaps if it makes Red smile!
Under that system:
– Kendal: chaotic good, with a STRONG sense of duty. Law vs. chaos is half of his enmity with Zuurith.
– Alinua: neutral good.
– Falst: chaotic neutral, being swayed in the direction of Good.
– Erin: lawful neutral, with good tendancies.
– Tess: chaotic good.
– Dainix: not sure yet, probably neutral good.
– Life: yellowy green. If her personality even fits on this chart, I don’t think we’ve seen enough to be know.
– Void: a highly intelligent and immortal chaotic evil.
– Zuurith: hovering around the lines between Lawful Neutral and Lawful Evil. I don’t think even he knows exactly where he sits there.
– The ArenaMaster: textbook Neutral Evil.
– Shrike: this may surprise some people, but Chaotic Evil (although not terribly far over either of those lines). She does what she wants, only cares about herself and her friends and doesn’t mind hurting innocents all that much.
– The Collector: Fanatic. She doesn’t really fit in this type of chart. She’s a fanatic for what she considers a good cause, willing to do anything to further it. Scan her with Detect Alignment and you’d get a glitchy readout saying “considers herself Neutral Good”, ask other people in the world who know what she’s trying to do and most will say she’s Chaotic Evil. I think this alignment system needs a “Fanatic” option.
Oof. Ever wished you could just ask some higher being the meaning of your life, instead of stumbling along trying to figure out what to do with it? Love to see a scenario where you can, and they STILL don’t answer!
From the palm of the hand of Life she asks,
“What do you want from me?”
Answerless, Alinua cries out “Come on!”
“Don’t you understand what you DID to me?!”
“I spent ten years waiting for you to kill me!”
In the dream her feelings outpour.
“You took everything from me,” she rises to her feet,
“So just TELL ME! What was this all FOR?!”
Look out everyone, Life has joined the floof competition, and is winning by sheer volume.
Gotta agree with Red on long manes of hair for this purpose. Speech bubble censoring is cool and all, and can be quite comedic, but flowing hair obscuring things Godiva style is a classic and looks amazing, especially with Alinua’s curls. Life’s hair looks amazing too, and may also have similar curls.
Giving up your happy adopted family, spending a decade waiting for death, then getting no answers from the one responsible; Alinua has every right to be angry. At least Vash and V.D. are forward about what they want and where they stand on their mortals; despite learning so much Alinua is still in the dark.
Life hijacked Alinua’s life (intentionally or not), refused to take over when she wanted her back in Zuurith and has remained silent to her questions. Yet she gives Alinua agency and freedom to do what she wants, gives occasional directives to her (saying “Run” when V.D. first appeared) and has shown with Gleicann that she can be reasoned with perfectly well.
There are just too many unknown with Life at the moment, her morals, her motives, her view of Alinua, even her view of the Collector hasn’t even been established. Unless Life gives us some answers, I’m tempted to suspect her to be the final boss of Aurora.
Don’t forget, the reason Alinua’s birth parents abandoned her in the first place was because of Life’s mark. Without it, they probably would have raised her.
(looks at the side of giant green lady’s head) And this is where we discover that Primordial Life is, in fact, secretly the Six-Earred Macaque and this whole thing has been one huge, convoluted plot to FINALLY beat Sun Wukong, But like, permanently this time. I’m sure Alinua will see the humour behind this and take it super well.
First things first: whoa mama…
secondly, i’ve got something of an impression that Life maybe didn’t even have much of a big master plan behind all of this. I mean, she’s fragemented on so many levels and only really awake because of the collector, and tbh we still don’t know if she’s going to be the kind of eldritch being who places their own wants and external mission over the lives of every living being on the planet (though i suspect not).
Cast your votes on what she says next folks, or if she says anything at all. Casting my personal vote on, nope not an apology, but more wonderment at actually getting to have this kind of conversation or connection to a mortal on this level
We’ve only seen Life use simple one word sentences before this. I have a theory that Life may not know English. It makes sense to me as, from my understanding, when she was last awake there was no mortals, nor mortal languages. Anything she would know would be echos and impressions from her connection to Alinua and The Collector.
Also, am I the only one who thinks that Life seem to be feeling a mix between curious, worried and solemn in Alinua’s general direction?
And I do very much agree with the “no master plan” thing said above, my theories would help that a lot.
I’m intrigued by the fact that Alinua still has her green eyes, despite not having her life mark. Her lack of a mark implies that her theory of being replaced after her death(page 1-11-14 and 1-11-14) is false, while her keeping her green eyes implies the opposite.
F I N A L L Y ! Finally we get a good glimpse of Life! I like how her multiple pairs of pointy ears almost give an effect of wearing some sort of headpiece, like a sideways crown almost. And from the shape of her head, it looks like she has a short snout.
I can’t tell without eyebrows or a visible mouth, but from her eyes; they look kind of… sad. It looks almost like Life pities Alinua for what she did to her. I hope this is actually the case, because like Evil Tree said above, Alinua is long overdue for some answers as to why she was forced to abandon her life.
There once was a pretty, purple elf
Who was tired of holding back a wealth
Of power and anger
‘Cause she thought she’s a danger–
Now she finally stands up for herself.
AHHH The life primordial looks so cool!
I bet Alinua has been wanting to ask about this for a while now, but the terrible, no good, very bad day she’s had has pushed her into actually asking. I’m not sure she’s going to get any answers though. The Life primordial doesn’t seem like one to explain everything that easily.
Ok, check my thinking, it may not have been Life who caused the Chimeric Plague. Void straight up told Erin that He crafted people with Magic via The Twins in the hopes of getting out of his prison. Life was definitely dead at that point. However she likely didn’t stay dead for long. So she starts looking for a Vessel, cause she knows Voidy is plotting. But if Void is as smart as he thinks he is he would have built a fail safe into his Creations that would cause them to break if too much Primordial magic was pumped into them. Like a limiter. When Life wasn’t cognizant it did what it was supposed to do, ie the Chimeric Plague. Then Life became aware thanks to The Collector. Then Alinua was the first mortal to come along that could be her Vessel. With Life being aware she could remove the Limiter that Void built into his Creations. I’m prob just talking outta my ass and this will all be disproven next Page. But fun to think about.
This is reminiscent of how Alinua makes little flowers in the palm of her hand, almost absently. Maybe Primordial Life is looking at her and asking, “When will you bloom, little flower?”
I just realized that Life is consistently shown without a mouth. I don’t think she can answer even if she wanted to. That seems really fitting somehow.
I don’t think Life is as eldritch as her previous appearances have made her seem. I think, despite her actions, her thought processes are probably quite human-like. The alternate text of various pages has suggested that the Primordials defeated the Void Dragon with the Power of Friendship, and gave up their lives to create a world to serve as its prison. I don’t know if they were aware at the time that that sacrifice would bring about the creation of an inhabited world with living things on it. I imagine that Life was surprised to find this when the Collector awoke her mind. She has probably fallen in love with the things her death brought about, and I don’t think she’s in favour of being resurrected and killing everything in the process. If she did want her old existence back I’d expect her to interfere more directly with Alinua, whose objective is to help Kendal stop the Collector and free Vash, which directly opposes the idea of resurrecting Life completely.
I only see remorse in Life’s face here, I don’t think any of her eyes are displaying different emotions but are rather just the shape they are because of how her face is structured. She is probably regretful of what she’s put Alinua through and has just been unable to communicate due to that guilt. Her intervention in Chapter 10 tells me that she values the creatures of this world and detests those who would use her power to corrupt their forms. She wants to protect the lives of this world. She unfortunately cannot do so without directly interfering with one of those lives, and, since her being is directly tied to the world’s foundations, she isn’t able to manipulate the world herself without damaging it. I don’t think she’s happy about having to bond with a Vessel using the Chimeric Plague, which has seemingly backfired many times in the past, which only adds to the guilt she feels.
At the same time, building off the friendship thing from before, she’s probably profoundly lonely. I wouldn’t be surprised if she wishes to awaken the minds of the other Primordials just so that she doesn’t have to suffer alone, but doing so probably won’t have good consequences for the world itself.
Such is my current headcanon. I love looking at scraps of information and piecing together a larger story than has been explicitly presented and Aurora is full of opportunities to do that.
You really got it in one, what the heck?! I doubt anyone will see this reply, but I just had to point it out. Nice job on the theorizing, and nice job to Red for foreshadowing this really well.
Wait, how old is Alinua? If she was supposed to die by the time she was 5, and she spent 10 years in that tree, is she 15? I thought she was in her 20s at least
I think she said at one point that she only found out what a chimeric carrier was when she was about 10 or maybe a little older, so I think that’s what she means
The complicated emotions on Life’s face, from scorn, to disbelief, to fascination, to pity, to being straiht-up tire dof Alinua’s yelling. I’m excited to see what her response will be.
HUGE LIFE LADY

HA that’s a good one
commas change the whole meaning
Nice!

Life wants Alinua to tell her what needs to be done. Gods need saints or prophets to explain mortals to the gods, and gods to mortals.
We’ve only seen Life use simple one word sentences before this. I have a theory that Life may not know English. It makes sense to me as, from my understanding, when she was last awake there was no mortals, nor mortal languages. LOVING the character design for Life, honestly.
I love how I’m panel 4 you can see different emotions in Life’s eyes- some look angry, some sad, her largest eye looks surprised. Maybe remorseful?
Interesting!
Look Aurora always has great art but I think Red has outdone hersefl here with Life’s design and the lighting? *chefs kiss*
ALINUA’S HAIR IN THE LAST PANEL AUGHH this comic is probably part of the reason I’m still drawing or else I would’ve burnt out ages ago
I like how Alinua’s face, gestures, posture and words all come together in showing her feelings in panel six.
Nice SU reference.
Huh. In addition to all the eyes, Life has a bunch of ears and seems to have multiples of arms as well. But only one nose.
The ears have the same design as the six-eared macaque from the channel
oooooo TWO pretty ladies?? What a TREAT ?
I wonder if anyone will bring up with the soul-collector the question of:
“What exactly do you think will happen when you awaken Primordial Life by butchering HER ENTIRE DEIFIC DOMAIN”
F I N A L L Y ! Finally we get a good glimpse of Life! I like how her multiple pairs of pointy ears almost give an effect of wearing some sort of headpiece, like a sideways crown almost. And from the shape of her head, it looks like she has a short snout.

I second this. It is a brilliant theory
I third this. Brilliant theory
I’m pretty sure Red said somewhere that the Chimeric Plague only started after Life was awakened? I can’t remember where it was though.

wow alinua got buff arms
TL;DR: Time to unleash all my emotional baggage…
Not even Erin’s bag of holding could contain all of it.

God this page is dammned beautiful. From the composition, to the blocking, to the story beat itself. Tenouttaten.
Life’s eyes look so regretful, even mournful
Is red’s comment a steven universe reference or is it just mebeing obsessed with it?
totally a steven universe reference
Crap, I’m getting serious gender envy from Alinua. At least I alreavdy have the Floof going
