Red’s bottom text making me cackle like a cartoon witch
Also you just know that Falst is going to pull a ‘did you just try to “therapy” me?’ next page and Dainix is just internally all ‘damn that worked with Kendal… kind of. Maybe this is the kind of trauma vent breakthrough that needs some tea? tea is good’
“The kindness that Kendal showed me, it didn’t come from ignorance.
We both knew I could be better.
He wasn’t giving me kindness, he was showing me I had choices.
I want to repay that kindness,” Dainix explains, calmer.
To which Falst snarls, “Good for you.”
“Oh.” Realisation makes Dainix halt.
“You’re lashing out at me, but the anger is directionless, fueled by guilt.
It’s like you think this is your fault.”
O Good job Dainix! Show Falst how perceptive you really are!
Hello Haiku’s Homage- Don’t beat yourself up over it! Catching and correcting your mistakes shows you care about your art!
ohhh dammmmmnnnnn i am loving the role Dainix is carving for himself here, an amateur therapist / guilt-guru as well as “flameo hotman”. he is calling out Falst’s self-loathin gin a really endearing way. GOD I LOVE THESE CHARACTER DYNAMICS, RED
also i recently met another “Red”. they’re a budding director on this Film Academy course I’m doing in Sheffield. they (ironically) have green hair, and they wear vintage plaid overshirts, so they’re officially cool and queer. just bringing this up because I’m very exccited to be on that course. oh, and also, i’m joining my first D&D campaign as well, so everything’s coming up veggiesnake 🙂

Dainix: Wanna talk about your feeling?
Falst: Wanna talk to my fist?
Drama aside, I’m really happy for Dainix. His sense of agency and choice restored, a lead on his soulfire condition giving him hope, and here, despite touching a raw nerve, genuinely wants to extend that goodwill to others.
There’s going to be a fight, or at least a few punches thrown by Falst next page I reckon. That might have been a problem if Falst took Dainix by surprise like me mentioned in panel 3. But without that surprise attack, with Dainix’s fighting experience, and probably thinking a rage spurred attack from Falst was possible, he should be able to defend himself. He might even incorporate Falst’s angry attack into therapy, allowing him to let his anger out to better tackle the real issues.
What concerns me however is that robot in the background; it hasn’t acted yet, but if the “possible Ancient” looks like they might be in danger it may do so. With tensions high and the capabilities of the automaton unknown, things might get ugly.
Yeah… Dainix, in these sort of situations, it’s best not to try to psychoanalyze the floofy murder friend who is clearly angry with you and doesn’t want to deal with his problems healthily.
I haven’t read the comments much in a while, but I can’t help but notice the haikus are being taken over by Hello Haiku Homage—Did something happen to HelloHaiku?

TL;DR: Red Floof used psychoanalyze on Angry Floof. Was it effective? Find out next page.
THE DESCRIPTION TODAYYY ASKSDIOJIOKOKSLKDSS
I think I might see what’s happening here- will Falst attack Dainix and be aided by the robot, which is also simultaneously trying to get him away from the fighting, which Falst might mistake for it attacking him and turn it into a full-on three-way fight?
However, it doesn’t seem like Falst is the angry impulsive type either, so maybe not. I have no clue.
I had the same worry as Dainix in panel 2, to be honest; this confrontation is volatile, even for Falst. I hope they eventually learn to get along, because Falst already has enough intraparty conflict with Erin; he doesn’t need more. No one in the group needs more.
GoodbyeBallad:
Yes they are, specifically in panel 6.
Alleyyy:
I don’t think Bluefire is going to be happy that you made a tl;dr in their stead.
I’m… not sure if Dainix is correct about Falst’s anger. Not sure he’s wrong, but not sure he’s right either. I, for one, absolutely hate being in the position of watching friends suffer and not being able to do anything about it. Watching friends half a continent away have their hearts broken and all I have to give are words. It’s a miserable feeling, and that’s not even close to watching people who accept you when none else will bother or dare literally destroying themselves by inches and you can’t help. Worse, all you accomplish for your efforts is you getting hurt and presenting another desperate drain on your friend the healer. Falst really has a crapsack deal from existence at the moment. I cannot help but empathize. From a safe distance.
No, don’t worry Dainix. This conversation won’t end with FALST attacking you.
I do wonder why Falst would be blaming himself here. Probably because he couldn’t do much against Tynan. He said last page that he feels the need to protect his new squad because they gave him a chance, and nothing feels worse than trying and failing to protect people.
Tahraim: “You’ve got the insight down, but you still need to work on being cryptic enough that they don’t realize you therapied them until you’re out of reach.”
Tahraim: “You’ve got the insight down, but you still need to work on being cryptic enough that they don’t realize you therapied them until you’re out of reach.”
He would so say that; but like cryptic and with like blurry brushstrokes…
That moment when you find yourself giving advice based on personal experience. This is either going to make Falst’s mental state much worse, or lance a wound
Dainix gets read on Falst
He can see similar guilt
Tahraim taught him well
PLAY NICE BOYS!
Are some of the connections between speech boxes missing for everybody else?
Ooooh nooooo. Well yes, but no. Oop this will end badly.
Messed up the Haiku
Wow, this is embarrassing
Here is correction

Dainix has Falst’s gist
He can see similar guilt
Tahraim taught him well
CHANTING SOULFIRE SOULFIRE REPAY THE DEED REPAY THE THERAPY
Good News: That hit the bullseye!
Bad news: The bullseye was a big ol’ red button marked “do not press”.
Putting those lessons on guilt and anger to good use, I see!

Apparently, phone alarms don’t go off when your ringer is silenced. I’ll be sure to confirm this later.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: Dainix is a Labrador at heart.

He exclaims gratitude in words like cotton
And so he pushes Falst’s angst button

Heh, I love how Falst’s ears perk up when Dainix says he doesn’t think Falst is being naive.

Falst is about to go apeshit
oh no you called out the lancer, prepare for consequences

I kinda want the robot to attack so falst doesn’t murder dainix for being right
Tahraim: “You’ve got the insight down, but you still need to work on being cryptic enough that they don’t realize you therapied them until you’re out of reach.”
gosh darn edgy lancers, always with the internal turmoil…
“You remind me of this sullen dark-haired dude from back home.”
Are those Kill Bill sirens I hear
Falst can go a little apeshit. As a treat.
Dainix about to get beat up
TL:DR: I see now, I am just the convenient new guy you can let out your angst on.

about time that the gang got a therapist
kendal is gonna wake up on monday and stop their fight with a big hug. it may be a very aggressive type of hug, but I’ll probably qualify.
Okay I have a task for anyone who is willing: Draw Dainix as a therapist. Opt. Falst crying on a couch nearby
There once was an angsty lancer
Whose guilt ate at him like cancer.
Dainix reminds him
Of the feeling that binds him
So he lashes out in answer.
Tahraim: “You’ve got the insight down, but you still need to work on being cryptic enough that they don’t realize you therapied them until you’re out of reach.”

something tells me that hit a nerve
