oh he is cracking up like an egg with bad cell service and i love it
i don’t like the term “defective” (like, seriously Tynan? piss off) but i do love the ensemble shot we have in panel 2, and this whole speech is just *chef’s kiss*
also falst is SO much shorter than Dainix it’s too funny
I do loce me a mid battle inspiring speech about how hope allows us to spit in the face of adversity no matter how long the odds. I really do.
Also tynan is the master of setting up good lines and action prompts. Really supporting guy in his own way. A+ villain
Erin’s been throwing fireballs, Dainix’s been breathing fire, and yet it’s Kendal’s words that have burned Tynan the most.
Oh Tynan, how little you understand our protags. Alinua spent her whole life accepting her death before she realised she has a future, Tess lived a half-life before being chosen and now lives life to it’s fullest, Erin was prepared to die for the good of the world, Dainix was death-seeking before Tahraim helped out and Falst has true friends for possibly the first time in his life. It’s not that they don’t understand immortality, it’s Tynan who doesn’t understand life as they do.
Tynan focus is squarely on Kendal and it seems Erin’s snow spell is still working, so that’s good. However I think his moment of desperation/true rage is coming; he can barely form an incarnation his so angry.
A rather bittersweet point there about Vash proving Tynan can lose. On one hand it means ordinary gods and mortals have the hope that such renegade gods can be stopped, but on the other hand it means regular gods can also be beaten and abused like the Collector is doing right now to the very god that proved it.
Prediction for next week: Either a) Tynan will continue fighting Kendal while the fire guys keep whittling the storm down or b) Tynan decides on a change of pace and terror by changing his humanoid incarnation into a dragon (as can be seen on the chapter cover). If he concentrates a large part of the storm into said dragon incarnation it might even hinder the fire-plan they have going on.
That first panel makes Tynan look like one of those insane director villains, where something doesn’t go according to script-in this case, a sudden Power of Friendship
@LordHints
Maybe they’re a fire mage, and they’re just too scared to fight Tynan! Or maybe the torch was blessed by Caliban or something! Who knows?
@EvilTree
Yeah. It’s living long vs. living well. That’s something that gods, even Vash, couldn’t understand, because they aren’t mortal. This group, as you pointed out, is a group of people who are living as best they can, and neither Tynan nor The Collector can understand that.
@LordHints
I was under the impression that it was a fire mage getting ready to fight Tynan.
I mean, Tynan spent the first part of his life exclusively terrorizing mortals, and then spent centuries exiled away from nearly all mortals. It isn’t hard to see that his perspective of mortals is clouding his judgment of them. He has no frame of reference for them expressing anything other than panic and hopelessness, so he thinks that’s how they always act. …And he’s being proven wrong for the first time in his life. Get him.
Not to be a killjoy here, but- this fight is going WAY too well for our protags thus far, all things considered, and I’m sensing an imminent pulling out of the rug from under them. Based on the last panel and Kendal rather neatly arranging a set of narrative bowling pins, it’ll most likely come from an enraged and desperate Tynan, possibly pulling some new ability out of his hat. BUT, I’m still very much leaning into the “sudden and unexpected Void dragon re-emergence” camp.
ok so i just noticed that tynan is making some yellow AND blue lightning here. if im not mistaken, im pretty sure blue and yellow lightning repel, so maybe tynan is generating blue lightning without realizing or as a backup plan for when yellow lightning fails?? ive gone back and looked through all the pages and i think i discovered two things: 1 on a particular panel on a particular page tynan has one yellow sword and one blue one, but i dont know if this stays consistent throughout the comic. 2 he seems to only make blue lightning when hes irritated or upset. the blue lightning shows up the first time when tynan realizes kendal isnt taking the fight seriously. i wonder if this happened during his fight with vash…
so i think the void ate my comment which of course it did, so ill rerumerize: tynan is making both blue lightning and yellow lightning now. he had one yellow and one blue sword on a page i dont remember and this may or may nor be consistent, idk. and he only started making blue lightning lightning when he realized kendal wasnt taking the fight seriously, so the blue lightning might be what he makes unconsiously when hes upset. or im over analyzing.
I think the dragon from the cover isn’t going to appear in this fight. Previous covers have had more to do with the end of the chapter than the beginning.
Stirring speech, Kendal. Well done!
Maybe gods are immortal, but we already know they can be changed and reduced. I don’t think Tynan would like life as a helpless little dust devil.
I might’ve already said this on a previous page, but I love it when egomaniacs who think they’re unstoppable, like Tynan here, suddenly realize that they’re not as invincible as they think they are and start *freaking out!*
Currently losing it bc I was listening to the Immortals Trope Talk when it occured to me to check to see if Aurora had updated. Lo and behold, very thematically relevant dialogue!
It feels a lot like you used a smaller brush size in this page and I’m liking the change 😮
it’s cinematic and adds a different feel, very nice
(also in love with Kendal’s jawline in the second to last panel, it looks particularly 3-dimentional)
@Tony Alighieri thank you. i also don’t think it is likely, but we don’t know exactly what Primordial Life actually did to Alinua during that transformation, so there’s plenty of room for wild theories
Hey Red, I was hoping to make my own online comic, and I was wondering how you made the site for this one. Is this comic on some pre-existing online comic site, or did you build the site yourself?
Great rant there. Except storm boy is the who’s forgotten what immortal means. He’s not immortal, just ageless and has a non-human body. Figure out how to kill a storm and he’ll be just as dead as your average human.
Tynan mocks the madness of facing him, but Vash
Has taught us that lose he can-
Declares Kendal, “Your reign of terror was over
Before it even began.”
oh he is cracking up like an egg with bad cell service and i love it
i don’t like the term “defective” (like, seriously Tynan? piss off) but i do love the ensemble shot we have in panel 2, and this whole speech is just *chef’s kiss*
also falst is SO much shorter than Dainix it’s too funny
(Pssst! Previous page doesn’t link properly to this one, yet!)
(…also, I like his hair, so, nyeh!)
(Not the a$$hat it’s attached to, but the hair is kinda neat…)
I do loce me a mid battle inspiring speech about how hope allows us to spit in the face of adversity no matter how long the odds. I really do.
Also tynan is the master of setting up good lines and action prompts. Really supporting guy in his own way. A+ villain
man i hope zuurith also learns something from his citizens’ efforts as well and gets his shit together post-tynan battle
Popping in every once in a while to let ya’ll know I’m alive.
Also, the lighting effects are GLORIOUS.
more like rain of terror
Red, your puns are awful.
And it’s one of the things we love about you. 🙂
Also, is it just me, or is our storm god here beginning to look a bit ragged? like he can’t pull himself together very strongly.
Huh, I’m actually here early! Anyway, go Kendal, great speech!
That’s a serious… charge to level at Tynan.
Hey, don’t insult the hair!
the cloud hair doesn’t look stupid, you are just tired of drawing it, don’t lie
Kendal: You understand fear, but now I will teach you to understand hope!
I haven’t seen HelloHaiku recently, I wonder if they’re OK?
On another point-
RED NOOOOOOOO THE PUNS
@hugh donnetono @Bolo BRL
XDDDD
Ooh, the sword’s glowing! I choose to believe that means its ‘power meter’ is partially full.
Also, well done to that one Zuurith citizen for keeping a torch alight in this weather.
Erin’s been throwing fireballs, Dainix’s been breathing fire, and yet it’s Kendal’s words that have burned Tynan the most.

TL;DR: We’re not the fools, you are. Think on that while we kick your cloudy butt.
I miss HelloHaiku

@LordHints
Maybe they’re a fire mage, and they’re just too scared to fight Tynan! Or maybe the torch was blessed by Caliban or something! Who knows?
@ImuyanMangoCat: that’s a good idea, I should do that, too.
oh wait-
@Evil Tree ooo I like that second idea. Tynan going full Godzilla would be pretty fun
Oh my gods this is so uplifting!
I am crying.
@EvilTree
Yeah. It’s living long vs. living well. That’s something that gods, even Vash, couldn’t understand, because they aren’t mortal. This group, as you pointed out, is a group of people who are living as best they can, and neither Tynan nor The Collector can understand that.

Where is HelloHaiku? We miss you!
Uh oh, I smell desperation. I fear the next page might show Tynan lose his cool and decide to do something rash.
Red that pun was terrible. I wish I could say I was SHOCKED but it’s what I expect at this point.

alt text: and your cloud hair looks stupid! there I said it
…Does anyone else suddenly have “What’s This” from The Nightmare Before Christmas stuck in their head? No, just me? Great…
(Well, I suppose their are worse ear-worms…)
HELL yeah!
Geez, Red. He’s not a Sandstorm…
I love that Erin is very clearly not even listening to Tynan in the ensemble panel. He has fireballs to make.
“you’re telling me this weather deity doesn’t have a………… grounded perspective?”
That’s what happens when your head is in the clouds.
Tynan’s genuine disbelief at the situation is hilarious. He feels like vegeta screaming about how big his power level is supposed to be.
I might’ve already said this on a previous page, but I love it when egomaniacs who think they’re unstoppable, like Tynan here, suddenly realize that they’re not as invincible as they think they are and start *freaking out!*
To tell you the truth… the game was rigged from the start.
Oh gawd I got the quote wrong
It’s “The truth is… the game was rigged from the start.”
Ugh.
Currently losing it bc I was listening to the Immortals Trope Talk when it occured to me to check to see if Aurora had updated. Lo and behold, very thematically relevant dialogue!

(also in love with Kendal’s jawline in the second to last panel, it looks particularly 3-dimentional)
To whoever wrote the theory about Alinua being dead on the previous page, I’m a big fan. I don’t think it’s likely but I love the idea.
@Tony Alighieri thank you. i also don’t think it is likely, but we don’t know exactly what Primordial Life actually did to Alinua during that transformation, so there’s plenty of room for wild theories

GlytchMeister:
Thank you for the beautiful/terrible mental image of Kendal wearing a checkered suit and wielding a 9mm pistol.
Red I’m sending you to Pun Jail for that. :I
@Draconia Look at the bottom of the webpage and you’ll see “Powered by WordPress with ComicPress”. That should answer your question, methinks.
@ TheUnknownGame
You’re welcome/I’m sorry.
I agree, imagining that gagglefuck with flowing golden locks is definitely a blursed mental image.
This “They’ll always fight you now” reminds me of the Doctor vs Silence speech.
Wait!? That’s it? I went through three years of comic in three days? Why wasn’t there more??
Somewhat joking aside, this comic is amazing & now is one of my top faves next to FMA & Belgariad/Malloreon.
Looking forward to more [no pressure ?]!
Kendal looking especially handsome on the 6th page
Great rant there. Except storm boy is the who’s forgotten what immortal means. He’s not immortal, just ageless and has a non-human body. Figure out how to kill a storm and he’ll be just as dead as your average human.
man this page is PRETTY tho
