man the tactics of this fight are a mess, if only their smart guy hadn’t blown himself up ten pages ago

Not pictured: a very crispy Falst
Oh dear
Oh dear me. It appears as though that the party isn’t high enough level or something, I don’t know I just want to flaunt that I’m early.
Is that ‘gnh’ Falst? Is my boy alright?
Kendal’s poor shirt… It’s been through so much in the last few chapters. On the plus side, maybe he’ll get a DBZ-style power boost when it inevitably gets completely destroyed?
Also, at first I thought Tynan was falling out of the sky, but on second glance it looks like he’s just flying directly overhead and it’s a perspective thing.
No nipple
The starfire didn’t finish him
And Dainix’s chances of hitting are slim
Alinua is fraught with confusion
And someone ends with a groaning conclusion
This reminds me of the time I took part in playtesting D&D 5E at a con, where my dwarf fighter got picked up by a dragon and carried off to land at another group. Then I got tossed off the tower and died.
The smart guy self-fireballed himself out of the fight.
Now the *actual* smart guy is waking up from his catnap?
But though the dragon screams and thrashes,
“Its not enough” Kendal whispers,
It soars to high and fast for Dainix
To strike with the heat that blisters.
“Wh-what did he just do?!” Alinua
Stares up, her healing glowing
Upon Erin. Then Falst awakes,
Letting out a painful “gnh-!”
Yes, “-ing” rhymes with “gnh-!”. Trust me, I’m a poet.
It is Falst waking, right? I’m like 60% sure…
My prediction for this fight is that at some point, zuurith will have pulled himself together enough and will reap Tynan in his chains to keep him still (that is, if he’s smart enough to realise that he should probably be helping at this point)
Time for Falst to shine.
Dainix, don’t bother targeting the avatar, just aim at the sky. Burn up those clouds.
Dainix: Too high and too fast. I can’t get a clear shot.
Falst: Ngh… I’ll toss ya.
Danix kept the poncho on for all of three panels. He was just looking for an excuse, wasn’t he?
Gosh, the drawing for the last couple pages has been SO COOL.
With how charred and rain-soaked his shirt is, I must say, Kendal looks good in dark gray. It provides a nice contrast with his hair.
Is it just me, or did Alinua’s hair get poofier in panel three? Maybe she only looks poofy from the back, because she looks a lot less poofy in panel four. (That’s probably the highest concentration of poof I’ve used in my life.)
You know what would be really useful about now? A /wind/ mage. Tynan helpfully provided a bunch of burning rubble. Pelt him with it. Keep up a constant barrage. Shred. His. Wings. Deny him the skies. And keep it up even once he’s grounded; just keep harassing him so he can’t do much of anything.
Meanwhile, Dainix can follow @someone’s suggestion.
Though what’s Tess been up to these last couple pages? Just hanging on?
There once was a boy from the sands
Who could shoot fire out of his hands.
But his fire can’t hit
That great dragon git
Until he dives closer or lands.
I love how the dude who breathes fire is trying to fight a dragon. I guess everyone in the squad is, I just find Dainix’s abilities kinda ironic.
@someone
I didn’t think about that, but yeah. Take Erin’s place. Burn the clouds away. Perhaps most importantly, inspire the citizens of Zuurith. If Tynan causes no fear, he had no power.
Holy hell that first panel. With the perspective, the background, the everything….!
Not gonna lie, at first I thought that the gasp at the end meant Dainix was about to meet the final “member” of the party, but upon closer examination of the page it’s probably Falst waking up, since it looks like Alinua’s still working on Erin. Not that that rules out a VD appearance later… Just means it’s not happening at this particular low spot in the fight (because nothing said FUBAR situation like throwing in an even bigger problem, even if it solves the first one)
Kendal’s starting to look exhausted. Here’s hoping he can hold on long enough to get back to earth (or near enough not to kill himself when his grip slips)…
To Called By Magic:
Nice!
To TheUnknownGame: could be a combination of winds and magic affecting her hair and how it’s moving.
Question of the Day:
If you sit down and chat with any character in Aurora in real life, who would it be and why?
I’d say Erin because I can learn about magic and soul channels and all I could ever want to know about the world. (so he claims) Also I tend to choose the most academicaly smart character for these types of questions, as they are they most likely to figure out how to get me into the world and meet the rest of the characters
That side by side of Alinua and Dainix, the way their glowy eyes and magic contrast with them and their surroundings, they just look so similar to me
@Goodbye ‘glowing’ and ‘guh’ are alliterations (words that start with the same sound). That’s good enough for poetry for me. Descriptions that both emotional and sensible are hard work! I admire your word-craft!
Speaking of craft, I have greatly admired the Tynan chapters. Excellent drawing/coloring, dialogue, and story crafting Red! You are true Renaissance Master! (No matter what Blue might quibble over definitions.)
Party check!
Kendal and Tess: holding on for dear life
Alinua: panicking
Erin: dead
Dainix: doesn’t know what to do
Falst: barbecued
He inadvertently gave Dainix flashbacks about his eye, Alinua.
It’s not enough to seriously harm Tynan but it is enough to stop him attacking the city. Fear has been stoked and Kendal is still fighting so maybe, just maybe, the city will have a break now as he shifts his focus.
For an on the spot decision, this dragon form is proving to be Tynan’s best move. Can’t be touched by the crucible, inspiring great fear, and likely getting more and more proficient in controlling it.
… I hope that’s Falst waking up; it probably is seeing how faded and wobbly the speech bubble is. I probably paranoid, but I’m not dismissing the possibility of Red throwing another complication in here.
You haven’t posted a link to this page on tUMBLR yet btw
alt text: “getting everyone to the boss arena will fix the split party problem” I thought, foolishly
Need to switch the email address I use to post soon, so this is a test (fingers crossed it works)
@Skye part of me wants to pick Kendal because he *really* has me worried. But in the intended sense… Tess would have a lot of fun stories, but it would also be interesting to get Erin monologuing about magic
Dang, Kendal, see what happens when you fight in a white shirt? I bet your shirt will never be white again, just a really nasty grey.
Can’t believe they’re struggling so much, I beat that boss solo on my first try, smh
i may or mayeve not just spent the entire night on reading and re-reading it and would now gladly die for each and every one of them
also red, Dainix cast fireball on that bitch when? i need my fluffy fire boy i immediately imprinted on to have a big w finally
To my avail, Hot man is hot
TL;DR: The big boss appears to have our heroes beat…
Can’t help but notice that was Tynan’s *left eye*… I wonder if anything will happen to his right wing, as an echo of Vash vs. Tynan?
Of the two primordial we had on deck, this really was the one I was hoping *wouldnt* show up
