so cinematic, Red your art and composition just keeps getting better
The way the outlines of his text bubble change, the effects go along with the storm form! this is awesome reee
Tynan: This was going to just be a scripted stand-up, but you made me do improv.
@ Bush Guardian If you’re referring to the “Tynan becomes the dragon from the chapter title page” theory, that would be me. The dragon silhouette has lightning coming from it and V.D. won’t blow his cover unless absolutely necessary, so I figured that dragon had to be Tynan.
In trying to break the villain by talking, Kendal ends up giving him an idea; an ever present hazard of having such a chronic hero syndrome I’m afraid. I get the feeling Erin may have to tweak their plan now.
While i was waiting for the page to load i put my spotify playlist on and the first thing that started playing was “Shut it Down” from into the spider-verse and i cant think of a more fitting song
This reminds me of Dracula, tbh. That sense of how much more dangerous a monster is when it runs into a human, because it becomes inspired to try out a new pattern of behavior.
TL;DR: Making your villain question their invincibility is a great way to weaken them… Unless they’re a god who can use that breakdown to try any number of horrifying last-ditch efforts.
Uh oh, they reached the transformation you get when you get his HP down to half the total. I knew something was going to go wrong.
If Tynan changes his tactics the plan won’t work anymore, and the floof squad’s weak points could be exposed. For example, the fact that Erin’s attacks require a certain amount of distance to use affectively and the fact that there are two people here without much ability to defend themselves against a storm god. I’m concerned that Tynan might try ye old “Hold the vulnerable friend hostage and force everyone to surrender” trick, maybe not immediately but soon. Of course, neither Falst or Alinua are very helpless, so that might go as well as he expects.
I don’t know, I could see VD getting involved if he felt insulted enough by Tynan taking a dragon form–copyright infringement by a “lesser wyrm’ and all that.
I love that Tynan listened to a critique of his “material” and is now making appropriate adjustments. I love a bad guy that can take constructive criticism.
I really like it when Tynan is so happy saying “I see!” – he’s like a horror movie director that learned they need a new way to scare the audience and has the right thing at hand already.
@Ozymandias great, now I’m worried that this is gonna happen. but it would make for a certain… symmetry, if Erin’s desperation to save her became VD Walter’s entrance cue
@Skye VD Walter might be worried about copyright infringement… OR he might be like “thanks for making yourself into an image of my truename and therefore an ideal host, sucker!”
@Setras @SarissaTeiflingDruid @EvilTree @LilacSpiral congrats on calling it!
@KittenyKat diplomancing Tynan into a good guy would probably require like, 3 consecutive nat 20s at disadvantage. But I like how you think.
Granted, I haven’t done an extreme deep-dive on the lore yet, but I get the feeling that Voidy can’t actually jump hosts. If he could, then he probably would have jumped ship out of Erin the first chance he could–perhaps into Jolen, whose looser morals would probably have made him a far more compatible partner. Then again, Erin is the Elemental Magus, and VD probably still has use for someone with that caliber of available power, which may explain why he hasn’t left yet…
Of course, the Void Dragon has been imprisoned for eons, so he’s also probably still regaining what strength he has…and I’m wondering if Erin’s being connected to all six elements acts as a weaker form of the seal that he broke–if the reason that Erin’s generally not actively possessed isn’t because VD is choosing to bide his time, but because he can’t actively possess him for long stretches of time. Which of course begs the question, if Erin temporarily exhausts one of his connections–say, to fire–and creates an imbalance…?
Can we just appreciate how far the art and storytelling have come since this first started. I admittedly started reading only a few months ago but you can tell that Red has improved so much! Not only is the art just more detailed but you can practically see Red’s ambition and passion for this project overflowing in every panel. And her understanding of character development, emotional flow, and conflict escalation is absolutely excellent. GOD I CAN’T STOP GUSHING OVER THIS COMIC!!!
@Skye though the details haven’t been made clear, we do know that VD Walter can possess dragons, since they’re effectively living versions of his true name — which is why Michael (https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-7-33/)/the paladins often fight dragons. Or ally with them, since the Light Dragon can pull the same trick (probably explains why the dragon Tess was fighting ran off: https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-6-27/). The truename thing is mentioned in the archives (https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-14-18/). Also probably why SickTats McHubris — er, I mean *Erin* acquired a dragon tattoo on his chest. As for whether this possession is different from what Erin experiences? Unclear. But VD Walter *specifically* needs an elemental magus to bring him back, so I doubt he’s relinquishing his hold on Erin anytime soon…
Also, just out of curiosity– does anyone else think that Tynan’s dragon-y cloud-face silhouette here look a bit like TFP Predaking or the Acer Predator laptop logo? Or am I just seeing things here?
Damn this art is delicious.
And of course, this turning point came! Exciting, exciting! …but yes, as someone wrote above, “One Winged Angel starts playing”.
I freaking love Tynan, I can’t wait for them to kick his ass. He’s one of those villains, you know? He knows exactly what he’s doing, and Red knows exactly what she’s doing. He’s a somewhat natural phenomenon, who exists because of the power of fear, so of course he’s evil. He’s so evil, that he can be super duper nasty, and it’s just what we expect, and we love it! And then, he gets his ass handed to him on a heroic platter, and we love it more! I’ve missed proper pure evil villains. In fact, I expected such a well written pure evil villain, given how well spoken Red was on the subject. I’m glad she’s proving that write.
Welp they’re gonna drown
that’s probably not fine, red, that’s probably definitely not fine
YOOO RED DREW THE THUMBNAIL A WHILE AGO (as she often does)

Tynan Phase 2, BEGIN!
tynan dragon mode when? and if?
Ah, someone called it. I forgot who, but they said Tynan would transform.
“Innovation, is it always a good thing?” Op-ed in Zuurith’s newspapers.
God, that last panel looks so good!!!! Great job, red!
he should’ve prepared a new album for the comeback, you can’t rely only in past hits
Huh, I wondered how Red would stop the fight from being too easy…
Oh, he’s makin’ a BIG splash now, that’ll need a lot of paper towels to soak up after.
Also, I just noticed Tynan’s emphasised speech bubbles have cloud shaped borders. Nice attention to detail.
The Floof Squad: “It’s over, Tynan!”
Tynan: “Fools! This isn’t even my final form!!!”
so cinematic, Red your art and composition just keeps getting better
The way the outlines of his text bubble change, the effects go along with the storm form! this is awesome reee
*”One Winged Angel” starts playing*
“I see!” the Storm of Terror declares,
Finally understanding their view.
Into a hammering of vile lightning he bursts-
“Let’s try something new.”
okay, okay, we’ve said this before but… NOW the battle really REALLY begins!
Tynan: This was going to just be a scripted stand-up, but you made me do improv.

aw man i hate it when they go into their final form and get a whole new health bar
Oh yeah this looks ok I’m sure they’ll be ok
TL;DR: Making your villain question their invincibility is a great way to weaken them… Unless they’re a god who can use that breakdown to try any number of horrifying last-ditch efforts.
That’s the thing about Hurricanes: the wind may blow things around, but the serious damage is inflicted by the storm surge
“Tough crowd; I need new material.”
All i can think of is game boss battles where the boss is at half health and just changes the game entirely *side eyes BOTW*
By something new perhaps he means he’ll finally try being a benevolent storm and get people to like him by being helpful to growth and prosperity?
….no?
…Has anyone suggested it at least?
………..no?
…….oh. :<
Tynan, God of the Storm
HP [– ]
Tynan Stormterror, Scourge of Civilization
HP [———————————————————]
well of course this point is where my binge ends…
Tynan is a charismaniac to the 27th degree and I am here for it, but I also want to see him be defeated SO bad.
Uh oh, they reached the transformation you get when you get his HP down to half the total. I knew something was going to go wrong.

@Evil Tree and @Bush Guardian
Yeah, my first thought was definitely ‘Tynan dragon form’
and yeah, the art is amazing
Called it. XD
I would just like to say that I called it
(sorry if I just came off like a huge jerk)
Panel one is quite good-looking; there’s something to be said about a quiet, tense standoff… But panel five blows it out of the f*cking water!
Ah, so Tynan was the dragon from the chapter cover. I guess I made the same mistake as these other foolish, overconfident mortals. (/joke)
Does anyone think that maybe Tynan will inhabit Tess.
No?
Its to obvious?
Well ill just try something new!
“THIS ISN’T EVEN MY FINAL FORM!”
He’s being forced to improvise. They’ve got him off his game. It’s only a matter of time before Red goes for one of those third-act breakdowns.
Is he gonna go Giga Tynan?
I love that Tynan listened to a critique of his “material” and is now making appropriate adjustments. I love a bad guy that can take constructive criticism.

@OddNumber: Welcome to the Aurora fandom!
Also! The storm god IS the dragon! What a twist!
SQUARESPACE YOU FUCK WHY MUST YOU TAKE EVERYTHING I LOVE?!
Oh god he is pulling a one winged angel! RUN!!!

Is this the point the latin vocals kick in?

fuck that dissolving face looks so cooL!
I don’t think that speech was supposed to be inspiring
Someone freaking called it. Holy cow. All we have to see now is if he turns into a dragon, and they were 100% right.

Oh no, you caught Kendal monologing!
To Hermit Thrush:
Thanks for the refresh! I knew there had to be something, but I couldn’t remember if it was in the comic, the Tumblr, or the wiki.
Kendal: Shot in the dark, is the ‘something new’ just another storm but bigger?
Tynan: …
This.. looks like he may attack their floofy hair..

(Love Kendal by the way, hope he learns to understand his own value without losing his paragon-ness)
He’s totally going to turn into the ID Monster from Forbidden Planet, isn’t he.
https://gifer.com/en/TwBJ
coolest second phase transition ever
god we love an showy, glowy drama-villain. “new material” all the world is a stage bitch!!!!!
