Yeah, I’d be running back to my books. So very, very cool watching June’s eyes change color when she received that message. So they’re not just librarians, eh?
Right… the library, books get wet. Awesome chapter red can’t wait to see alinua bust up a mountain to save people that might have been forgotten otherwise:)
Oh no, the books! I’d love to know how this telepathic communication the junior archivist is using… works. Or is bestowed. Who even is Niluca? Or did I forget a name lol
Save the prisoners, save the books, and maybe Kendal if you get the time.
Yep, I had a feeling she’d be called in to help protect the archive’s books from the storm. While I am sad that this will probably take her away from the action it does lower the chance of Erin’s predicament, or nature as the elemental magus, being known.
Sad thing is Alinua is 100% right, plus I bet breaking Zuurith’s prison was always a dream of Vash’s. Maybe she could mention she did this when they meet up with Kendal; give him both life magic heals and a little morale boost.
Creating a giant fruit tree to save Windscrest, breaking open Zuurith’s prison saving many people, Alinua sure is making her mark on the world. I wonder if she’ll get some cult following or at least songs and ballad made of her deeds.
I like how Aliuna has gone from just hiding herself away less she hurt some-one to someone who goes out of their way to help others in need. Between the respect and good example Kendal has been to her and the empowerment that the Spirit of Life has bestowed she has learned a lot about living. It’s no wonder she want following him. It sure beats just living in a tree.
@icarusancalion ‘Acolyte’ is a title, not a name. like ‘Proctor’ or ‘Nurse’. the name June still stands, but now she’s Acolyte June.
@Ironfol If you’re thinking that the White Dragon’s name is Lady Niluca, then I’m pretty sure that Lady Niluca is just the Senior Archivist who dismissed June earlier so that she could swear at a manuscript.
The person who contacted the Junior Archivist has the right idea! Even if it isn’t open to the public, the sheer loss of knowledge could be at a similar level as the library of Alexandria.
NOOOO NOT THE BOOKS! This isn’t even real life and my inner historian is crying over the possible loss of primary sources! RUN JUNE RUN!
Also, is June the new Tess, where she has almost-encounters with the main cast until she finally gets to them and explains her plot thread?
Also also, I hear your request, Wood guardian, and I’ll try my hand at it later today when I have more time to think about it. I did a bit of song writing recently in my creative writing class so I might be able to pump something out.
@veggiesnake, that was a joke. Translation of said joke: “her name is … acolyte.” (Shoot, we still don’t have a name.) “Oh well.”
The point being: I was expecting a name, and there wasn’t one. I think Red is teasing us now.
(It’s just so astonishing to imagine someone thought I didn’t the word “acolyte,” I’m boggled. I’m a writer and English teacher brought here after following Red on YouTube for years. But even though, well, who couldn’t know that–is there anyone doesn’t know the word “acolyte”?)
At any rate, I guess we’ll have to keep calling her June.
@icarusancalion
wait, why did we name her June in the first place? Is it short for Junior Archivist? Nevermind that was a stupid question actually
My favorite part is that Red sees the comments and could just decide to name her June.
Awww we don’t get to see her crack open a mountain today?
And let me guess, we’re going to follow June instead of them. Just really keep up the suspense.
The lore fanatic in me is mostly wondering what all these presumably LD dragon powers have in common. Like there’s the weird wings and sword thing we saw ages ago, and then this telepathy kind of thing, and I think June also opened a window to let birb in.
I feel like this whole thing with June is leading up to archivist telling June that there are traces of the void dragon in the library and June’s just gonna put the pieces together like. hm something’s sus about this
@Anonymous: Hooray for 2’sday!
@Sunstorm the Budgie & CuteEdgySatyrBoy: Technically, both of you are correct. The first time we see telepathic Paladin powers (telepaladin, hehe) is with “Michael” and “His Lady” (which, considering Erin’s archive visit, is likely the Light Dragon) here: https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-7-33/ . However, this is the first on-page instance of Paladin-to-Paladin communication.
@SarrissaTeiflingDruid: I was wondering the same thing, but it’s likely just a placeholder name until we get her actual name. I could give you the full list of all the names the comments have given characters if you wanted it.
(Also, it’s pretty neat to have another D&D player here :-).)
My guess is that the light dragon’s powers either revolve around creation (antithesis to Void’s entropy/corrosion) or the soul (the binding power that is being studied by the collector and likely what impeded VD from possessing the first elemental magus made by the twins).
Maybe the Aseran academy never considered these as a possible eight element because it’s kind of in a blind spot, souls are just a fact of existance, everyone got one of those. It’s even a limitation when applying elemental magic to living beings, more of an obstacle to be circumvented.
With all due respect, Niluca, what the heck are you going to do to protect the Archives? Move books off the bottom shelves and hope the floodwaters don’t rise too high?
So one of light magic’s uses includes telepathy? Not just between The Light Dragon and her paladins, but between two paladins? While it’s definitely more startling than a wind magic message spell, it’s also much faster and more private.
I love Falst on this page; the fact that he looks distressed and angry at leaving Kendal possibly for dead, and even just that he called Alinua by name for, if I remember correctly, the first time, shows me that he’s really opening up to and caring about the group (minus Erin). Yes, they are quite possibly the first people in his life who, after a very major hiccup, have cared deeply about his well-being, both physical and mental, but due to his past experience in life, he hasn’t really reciprocated that until Kendal got abducted (by Zuurith, not Tynan). I like that Kendal was the catalyst for this; he was, after all, the one treated Falst the least harshly in Gleicann’s forest, the one who invited Falst into the group in the first place, and the one who told Falst to accept and value himself as he is, in contrast to Falst’s harsh treatment by everyone else based solely on who, and what, he is. And I like that Falst’s confrontation with Alinua on the peak seems to have led to their relationship deepening; despite the fact that she tried to kill him when they first met, he’s stayed by her side and defended her since the peak’s confrontation. In short; I love Falst, and I love that he’s finding people that care about him and that he cares about.
@Readeragonist: Wind magic is more of a purple-pink. What she does here glows the same color and it definitely isn’t wind. Signs point to the paladins worshipping the actual Light Dragon and getting powers from her.
yes save the books. books are important. if i was in a story i would probably be that one villian who goes by the rule ‘anything is justifiable if done in the pursuit of knowledge’ and gives people blank looks when they tell me what im doing is immoral.
i think when it eventually cuts back to erin he will be mid panic attack. when you have a group of peoples you think is your job to protect, everyone spilt up and all over the place is really the worst place to be when disaster hits.
As far as I know, those other users are not Somebody and Hermit Thrush under different names. TL;DRs have become Somebody’s Comments Thing and generally those of us who have been here a while try to refrain from posting someone else’s Thing once it’s been established, though there have been cases where a new poster either doesn’t know about that or attempts to pick up the slack when someone’s not posted by their usual time (hence the occasional reply to someone saying ‘please don’t post this, there’s a user already doing these, and also concern when someone like HelloHaiku goes missing for a page–they’re rather punctual about ‘checking in’, so to speak.)
In the case of the Alt Text, that’s a bit more complicated. I started doing that, then Hermit Thrush started posting it before I could due to timezones and scheduling, and after a few instances of finding I’d double-posted I ended up handing over the project. I started trying to post the archive pages’ text instead, only for someone I’d never seen on the site before start up on that, too, at which point I honestly just kind of said ‘to hell with it’, and therefore I have no idea who actually covered most of the comic.
(For the record, I do not resent losing what I was trying to establish as my Thing–I just find the timing on the archival material a little suspicious, as until I asked if anyone was doing the Alt Text yet, transferred the updating pages to Hermit Thrush, and began working on that instead, no one seemed interested.)
On an actual comic-rrlated note, I love how conflicted Falst looks at the beginning of the page. You can tell he’s really starting to care for this strange group/not-quite-yet found family he’s suddenly become a part of, even if he doesn’t want to admit it, and even though he knows Alinua’s right he still feels horribly guilty about abandoning Kendal.
And there’s June! It’s interesting how often the Floof Squad has near-encounters with characters that later become far more plot-relevant, isn’t it? And huh, interesting use of magic there…It’ll be interesting to see a bit more of the lore behind that, as I’m sure there is some…
After I’ve read the comic, I check the comics for the alt text. If no one else has posted it, I add it. So in that sense I’m still doing the alt text, but occasionally other commenters let me have the day off (-:
@icarusancalion: You’re forgetting people who’s first language may not be English. I, for one, had never heard the word acolyte before last fall and would’ve been at a complete loss as to what it might mean in this context. So for other people like me it wouldn’t be too odd to miss the joke (I certainly did when I read your first comment) ^^
Hopefully most of the paper in the archive is the kind made from linen rags, that should be more resistant to damage than modern wood pulp paper. Anyway hopefully the vault is water tight and they have lots of sandbags and mountains of uncooked dry rice on hand…
I’ve been the one doing the TL;DR’s for a while now after they stopped happening (have I beaten the previous doers in numbers yet?) Whoever was doing them before kinda just vanished by the time I began reading this thing and since I wanted something to do, I tentatively put up a TL;DR. Nobody protested, so I kept doing them and settled into this role. Now it’s pretty much all I do in the comments and I get very touchy about anyone else trying to do one because I like having my own distinctive feature (like how everyone at school knows me by my backpack, haha)
The person doing the TL;DR on that older page you landed on was someone else. I never changed my comments section name, though I considered it multiple times because “Somebody” is a pretty unremarkable, mundane username. It was just safe and probably wouldn’t bother anyone. I don’t think I’ll change now since I’ve been at it for a while and it could be jarring, or worse I could be suspected of replacing myself with the TL;DRs.
I started doing the TL;DRs with page 1.10.34 so anything before that wasn’t me and someone has retroactively done a few too, sometimes on pages that were already covered. I actually got interested in this and went back to look.
@Somebody, Skye, & Hermit Thrush.
Ty for answering.
This whole thing reminds me of the new generation taking up the roles of the old generations trope. Like how wasabi replaced Kiba in boruto, and like how the Weasley twins replaced the marauders
I know not many people will see it at this point, but I have an idea for it, and it works especially well now, so here is, after a long while, the FUTURIVIA for today! This one is quite simple: What do we cut to next?

Gift Horse: We cut to the devastation Tynan is wreaking in Zuurith (bonus points if Zuurith himself is watching over it, powerless)?
WAIT A MINUTE when was the last time we checked on Erin? I thought about it for like two more seconds and I realized that it would be kinda random if the Void Dragon, AKA Walter popped out and blew up the archive, AND the Paladin archives ARE in a valley that floods VERY easily, but still, Erin IS still there, and maybe this Lady Nulcula fellow can sense Walter inside of Erin? I dunno.
BTW did anyone see what I said about Skye and ImuyanMangoCat? HelloHaiku deserves a mention too, at least.
Humanoid Clay:
Don’t worry I saw it, and I think B might be most likely but I would love to see the destruction Tynan is causing, and maybe throw in a few guards throwing away any previous notions to the side and just trying not to be caught in the flood.
The vault sounds pretty cool. Hopefully it’s up for the task.
Time to destroy a mountain with the power of blue melons!
A lot, i remember when my elementary school flooded and the books were drying out outside.
also: Yesterday was Twosday! a once in a lifetime* experience, except for maybe Threesday in eleven years on thursday march 33 2033
NOT THE BOOKS
This page’s image source: vault
Alinua looks real buff in that last panel.
Also, nooo! June! Come back! Keep going towards the maincharacters! Don’t get sidetracked!
Also, I hit the random button and landed on this page: https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-4-11/
Are the peeps doing TLDRS and Alt text still Hermit Thrush and Somebody but with diff names? Or are they diff users?
i hope they can save the books
@Anonymous
In Dan Povenmires words, yesterday is the Two-est day ever

this may have sent twice so oops
June has a name and it’s … acolyte.
Oh well.
Yeah, I’d be running back to my books. So very, very cool watching June’s eyes change color when she received that message. So they’re not just librarians, eh?
So close, yet so far.
June has to protect the books.
Falst is on lookout.
(Bonus)
Ali’s ’bout to show
how to make an omelette:
First, just crack some rocks.
Right… the library, books get wet. Awesome chapter red can’t wait to see alinua bust up a mountain to save people that might have been forgotten otherwise:)
Well there go our hopes of the cavalry arriving.
@Anonymous i managed to get a screenshot of 22:22 on Tuesday, 22/2/22 😀
Nooooooo… they were so close to finding each other…
also, this is the first time we’ve seen paladin telepathy in action!
Oh no, the books! I’d love to know how this telepathic communication the junior archivist is using… works. Or is bestowed. Who even is Niluca? Or did I forget a name lol
NAME REVEAL
This is actually the second time we’ve seen the archivist use paladin magic
Save the prisoners, save the books, and maybe Kendal if you get the time.

Lady Niluca? And a sudden eye change from brown to white. I do believe we found our missing dragon folks. But that’s just a theory.
@Veggiesnake yeah that’s right. Ni Luca is the one who botched up the manuscripts and made up creative swears
It’s good that their saving the books.
TL;DR: Go back to the boring old archive, kiddo! Leave the city saving to the overpowered mage and her cat sidekick!
When you know your pal is a paragon and you wanna be one too.
The person who contacted the Junior Archivist has the right idea! Even if it isn’t open to the public, the sheer loss of knowledge could be at a similar level as the library of Alexandria.
@Evil Tree/ everybody
Ballads of Alinua’s wonderful deeds are requested!
Please start pumping out the ballady stuff!
NOOOO NOT THE BOOKS! This isn’t even real life and my inner historian is crying over the possible loss of primary sources! RUN JUNE RUN!

“The vault will be ready when you arrive” I wonder why does this reminds me of the room of requirement?
@icarusancalion oh. well. isn’t the egg very much on my face.
@Rai626 — Oh, good point. For non-native speakers acolyte, well, yeah, I guess it doesn’t come up in casual conversation.
@veggiesnake — Nah, the egg’s on my face for taking it personally. Think nothing of it.
I’m hoping for a scene shift to Erin and Tess–and not just because Erin’s a favorite.
Hopefully most of the paper in the archive is the kind made from linen rags, that should be more resistant to damage than modern wood pulp paper. Anyway hopefully the vault is water tight and they have lots of sandbags and mountains of uncooked dry rice on hand…
