Alinua (via message borb): ERIN! We need help! Guards and hunters are chasing us! Falst is unconscious! A buff metal woman needs a sealing cuff removed-
Erin (replying with his own borb): Yes, yes, ok. But have you heard? This book’s content is over 4000 years old!
Well the Junior Archivist seems to have calmed down a bit; I guess seeing Erin so stunned/in awe helped.
Now this is interesting, Huracan had ancient lineage and the text states that the Dark Dragon “took from her her home”. Could the surviving Ancients been aware of V.D. being the one who broke the runic pedestal and destroyed their surrounding city? Is that what spearheaded the formation of the Paladins originally?
It’s been shown in extra lore Calendar page that, aside from the Twins, the Ancients didn’t have much time for gods; maybe that changed after the demise of their civilisation.
(said like the Chocolate guy from Spongebob) Lore drop? Lore Drop? LOOOORRREEE DRROOOOOPPPPP!!!
No but really, I am an inveterate Lore Hound of the highest degree, so I get the feeling that I’m about to be a VERY happy reader over the course of however many pages this takes.
@I have a squirrel named floofy (Tell floofy I said hi) and also alt text- “you’re all so lucky I didn’t make him spring for the Ancient copy and write all this sweet exposition in runes instead”
The alt text is a threat to write the exposition in runes if he asked for the original text.
So it’s a bible. Written in an ancient language, written by a servant of the god but dictated by that god, even the age matches up sort of. (Torah/ Five Books of Moses is, according to tradition, 3,300-ish years old.)
@Magicalballerinaprincess
It checks out grammatically as an indication her home was taken from her. It wouldn’t be anyone’s first choice of phrasing in conversation, but that’s clearly being done deliberately through the whole text as a shorthand for it’s archaic-ness.
This historical record reads like the Bible. It is formatted like a history book but is dedicated to the “spreading the message of god”. And contains biblical tales.
This could also be what Erin’s face is like in the last panel. He sees that a record that says “may the wind carry the name of our lady harucan, chosen of the dragon of light” may not be the most accurate source material.
Apologize for what might seem like cynicism. History buff check our sources. Usually…
The junior archivist stated in the last page that this copy was made seventy years ago; considering the transcription year here is 6112, that would put the current story in the year 6182 (specifically, 6,182 years after the creation of the elder races as shown in the still-somewhat-mysterious prologue). As someone who enjoys fictional calendars and year counts, this knowledge makes me happy.
@Jaston I have never heard the term Lore Hound before, and I think it fits so well. Up until now, I was using the term “Loremaster”, but I never thought it was a title too big for what I did. But now, I’m gonna use Lore Hound instead. Thank you :-).
Aside from that, it”s kind of curious that the Light Dragon would be drawn so…wispy. All of the artistic renditions we’ve seen of the Light Dragon have shown it as simply a mirror of the Void Dragon, but could the be inaccurate in some way? Just something to ponder
For linguistic reference, Proto-Germanic was spoken less than four thousand years ago, and it’s so obscure that we have to reconstruct it from its descendants. Of course, fantasy has empires existing with largely static borders, cultures, etc for upwards of 10,000 years, so maybe it’s not worth pointing that out.
i just realized that it’s
“took from her, her home”
like the comma doesn’t belong there, but that’s like
you could take ‘her home’ and put it in front of ‘from her’ and yeh it’s not a misspelling or anything
Can we just appreciate the phrasing of “I am silent. Her words follow.”???? Got to be one of the coolest ways to transition from scribe to writer I have read.
Has Erin just found the most compelling primary source he will ever gaze upon? Has the mere existence of this book finally broken through that stubborn mindset the Academy had instilled within him? Will he realize that the real cult was the frie–I mean, Academy, all along? How long is he content to read this modern copy before he asks to see an older translation? Was Lady Huracan an Ancient? Is she the one who invented Temptations cat treats?
@InsertPunHere: if you submit a comment & it doesn’t show up, most of the time it actually did post. If you refresh the page or come back later you can see if the page got better.
Hello! I’ve been here a while but haven’t commented yet. I would just like to say that this comment section is super cool. Everyone’s very supportive and nice, and there’s always incredibly well thought-out analysis and polite discussion that makes me happy because I love to analyze stories and it’s nice to see other people doing the same.
A few shoutouts:
@Somebody: thank you for your TL;DR’s, they’re always a highlight of the comic
@Evil Tree and TheUnknownGame: lots of people have analytical comments but yours are always super in depth and interesting because most of the time it’s an angle I haven’t considered
@HelloHaiku: your poems also bring joy, and they’re a fun way to look at the story
@Steve, Lord of Darkness: I very much enjoy your running jokes, thank you
to all the new people: welcome!
and to everyone in general: thanks for being here and I hope you have a good day
I’m a yandere for Lore. Gimme more! JK. I love in story lore but not like how Yuuno Gasai likes Yuki. That look on his face in the last panel makes me think there’s something über important coming up. Or we could skip to our ragtag team of metalcast, ferrin and elf or they could interrupt Erin in his quest for knowledge by contacting him with a loud message bird shot straight into the library. Our boi may get kicked out from the library archives.
I’d also like to think evil dragon is taking this as an opportunity to learn the weaknesses of the Light Dragon. Wether Erin gets info or not it’s advantageous to him. Ah I wish to create such a villain. The hopelessness that the villain will gain something no matter the outcome of the hero’s action is frankly an interesting concept.
Hello, I am A random thing you missed. I find random things that you may have missed.
For example, on page 1.10.8, you can see the moon on frames 2, 4. and However, they are different colours. Are there two moons? Do they change colour depending on how you look? Who knows…
Thank you for your time.
To: A random thing missed.
The world of aurora actually has two moons, the red one is called sword and the other is called shield. If u click on the lore tab and click the calendar you can read more about it

Thanks! It always makes me happy when someone appreciated what I do. It’s one little comment but if it makes others happy it’s reason enough to have it around.

As I enjoy noticing tiny details in the stories I like the most, your compliment of Evil Tree and I makes me happy! I especially love it when we can build off each other’s theories, or give each other information the other missed. Also, I too appreciate Somebody’s TL;DR’s, HelloHaiku’s poems, and Lord Steve’s cliffhangers.
For context, this is like having a readable copy of an entire book originally written down in Minoan Crete, or a few centuries older than the complaint to Ea-nasir about his bad copper.
Tiny thing that bugs me about this page and the last is that the Junior Archivist says that this copy of Huracan’s account was transcribed by a Lady Adaine, but then the book itself has the correct date, but says it was transcribed by a Denn Ilo. Unless that was Adaine’s last name or something.
Look at his face in the last panel…
Build up to the lore
At least he appreciates
how old the text is.
(Bonus)
Picture the comic
but everyone speaks in runes
Oh the agony
*reads alt text*
Red, why do I feel called out by you for deciphering runes whenever they drop? XD
In other news, this lore drop will be spicy.
Nice names, Huracan is similar to a hurricane… and that dragon looks stormy.
Also erin is cute when he is inquisitive!
If I’m not mistaken, Huracan actually means hurricane in Spanish. Not sure if that means anything for the lore, but it is pretty cool!
“strong with mountain-blood” is one evocative phrase, dang
That’s a nice swirly dragon drawing
awesome dragon 🙂 also figured out that the h-looking rune means ‘ch’ so the title of the book translates to TEACHINGS OF THE FIRST CHAMPION
Alinua (via message borb): ERIN! We need help! Guards and hunters are chasing us! Falst is unconscious! A buff metal woman needs a sealing cuff removed-

Can someone please comment the alt text? Im on mobile.
So there is a light dragon. Hopfully it will be alot more friendler then the void dragon.
@I have a squirrel named floofy (Tell floofy I said hi) and also alt text- “you’re all so lucky I didn’t make him spring for the Ancient copy and write all this sweet exposition in runes instead”
@LizardWithHat
you’re 100% correct. “huracan” is the Spanish word for hurricane
I have a squirrel named floofy: hold down on the comic like you are copying something then just look at th file name
her her home
you’re all so lucky I didn’t make him spring for the Ancient copy and write all this sweet exposition in runes instead
Not to be a prig, but I think you meant “took her from her home”, not “took from her her home.”
@I have a squirrel named floofy
you’re all so lucky I didn’t make him spring for the Ancient copy and write all this sweet exposition in runes instead
Alt text:
you’re all so lucky I didn’t make him spring for the Ancient copy and write all this sweet exposition in runes instead
Someone please donate to the archives so they can get some goddamn book cradles for their rare manuscripts
@LizardWithHat
Huracan in Spanish means “Hurricane”
It’s pronunciation is also a bit similar to “Furacão” (also “Hurricane”) in Portuguese
I like how she says “a pretty smooth read” and not an easy read or something
You won’t actually get a notfication for this comment, will you?
I guess you’ll have to check back periodically
Anyway, here’s the text:
“you’re all so lucky I didn’t make him spring for the Ancient copy and write all this sweet exposition in runes instead”

You know, the dynamic between V.Dragon and L.Dragon reminds me of Ati(shard of Ruin) and Leras(shard of Preservation) from Mistborn.
@LizardWithHat sounds similar to Typhon – Typhoon

All hail Red for not having Erin go for the ancient copy and making us all transcribe this ourselves.
Well if its four thousand years old…
anything less than three years old thousand and not praising me is not worth reading.
Also wonder whether Tess is likely to move into antagonists any time soon.

TL;DR: Desperation leads to strange things. In this case, it has drawn the nerd down the occult book rabbit hole.
May the wind sing her name… “Huracan.”
Here comes the hurricane…
…
I’ll see myself out now.
Can there be dragon ferin’s

Tune in This Week to Find Out!
Here comes a monologue…
I have been wondering that too!
The above response was meant to be addressed to the user “A Comment”.
Oh no, Erin’s skepticism has been overwhelmed by his extreme nerdiness! I’m interested to see where this goes, as is he.

OOOOOOOOooooooooohhhhh
Woot! Just read the whole series, and I’m excited to continue reading as more gets released! Can’t wait to see more!
For context, this is like having a readable copy of an entire book originally written down in Minoan Crete, or a few centuries older than the complaint to Ea-nasir about his bad copper.
“in all that time, i have not aged” WAIT WAIT WAIT IS THAT LADY THE COLLECTOR? its just a theory but ITS POSSIBLE

the shadows on erin’s face make it look like ol’ voidy is reading too
