I now imagine a scene later, that’s like that moment in Mean Girls where it’s asked how many felt they were victims of Zuurith. And Zuurith gets surprised pikachu face when his own citizens raise their hand.
Applied a sick burn and made him attack first; totally worth it since he was going to jail anyway.
You made some valid points on saving Vash and Kendal’s nature on the previous pages Zuurith, but now you’re just being a dick.
“Your people”, so Zuurith, like Gleicann, considers the gang to be of Kendal, and Kendal himself to be closer to a god than a mortal.
I genuinely have no idea what’s going to happen next; there are so many moving and volatile parts involved. Kendal in jail with the Ignan champion, Tynan on the edges of Zuurith, the Void Dragon’s vessel and the Paladins in the same city, the golden-lady wildcard and why she’s after Erin. I keep checking the Archive page for the next chapter’s art to try and get an idea what’ll happen next.
Tynan on the edge of Zuurith, that IS interesting, might be have a reluctantly thankful Zuurith at some point? Or at least no longer so openly hostile.
Although it was Vash who defeated Tynan before, it sounds like much of Vash’s power either came from or was channelled via his incarnation, with the star-metal arm and mysterious gem eye, both now incorporated into Kendal, man and blade both. What are the chances that, despite appearances, Kendal might be able to defeat Tynan again?
Maybe this strange situation with Kendal and Vash could only occur specifically because of Vash’s connection with the star-metal and the gem?
Also, note that Zuurith maneuvered Kendal into this argument in 1.12.25, by changing the topic, from Kendal’s purpose in town, to whether or not Kendal’s quest was even possible. Basically suckering Kendal into talking back to a god, which we can suppose makes Zuurith feel justified in further dick moves.
An RPG called Paranoia. City ruled by a Lawful/Insane computer. Accusing people of Sedition and arresting/shooting them is the primary way you win. Clearance (permission to be somewhere, do a thing, or even know what the rules of the game are) are arranged from Infrared < Red < Orange < Yellow < Green < Blue < Indigo < Violet < Ultraviolet, with UV being the highest level of clearance. Players' default clearance level is the colour of their shirt.
Whoa, hold the trope! If Zuurith is establishing himself as the best city, then Tynan taking him on is taking out the big guy to prove himself a serious threat. Fear for the Fear Storm.
I called this at the beginning of the chapter. The fastest way for Tynan to get his fearmongering power back is to pick the toughest god of the bunch and beat them bloody. Instant continental fear, instant power boost.
Zuurith isn’t as noble as he acts. He’s obsessed with control, and as soon as Kendal poked a hole in his view he snapped. It may be his nature as a god to be an embodiment of the concept, but he isn’t really beyond mortal failings either.
all the gods kinda seems like one from polytheistic religions, where because they cover different aspects, they dont have to be perfect and all knowing. i always just see them as powered up mortals, which makes kendal’s (and the others by the mere fact that they have magic) nature a lot more interesting
“You like to pretend you embody some archetypical principal of law. Like the other cities are inferior reflections of you, just waiting for you to show them the right way to rule.”
Oh man, it would be super bad if, say, several real world empires in world history, along with systems of government and religion, actually did that! I mean, can you imagine what that would be like if there were just a bunch of Zuurith’s in charge and running around, forcibly converting people to their world views and imprisoning and lashing out at people who didn’t comply or fit into their perfect worldview?
Oh man. well thank god that didn’t happen in real life! Now to take a deep breath in and look at all the colonial shitheads throughout world history, I’m Sure they’d NeVeR, EvEr Be AnYtHiNg LiKe ThIs CoLosSal DiCkHeAd!
Hmmm.. It’s interesting to compare the two gods and consider how they came to be this way. Vash’s city was defensive and strong, with many disparate peoples flocking to join it, so Vash became caring and protective against the dangers from the outside.
Zuurith is a huge dic(k)tator, who wants control over everything. I’m wondering if there was maybe some kind of internal struggle in the city early on? That might have led to some kind of propaganda campaign that “order must be restored” which, as gods are influenced by belief, would have changed Zuurith much. Possibly to the point of being a self-reinforcing loop.
We are luck he didn’t use the blade part of the chain-blade
*lucky
The last three panels could be a meme format, if you replace the text in the second-to-last panel.
The fifth panel could also be a meme format.
That too!
Are you willing to stake your future on that?
Your Ships?
I thought not.

Interesting developments!

Real piece of work.
TL;DR: Sedition!! You are even more under arrest *chains clink*
OMG, Zuurith isn’t purple, he’s Ultraviolet!
Can you explain the reference? I don’t get it.

Ah. A game. This explains why I didn’t know what it was.
I was just referencing how real laws have gotten people in trouble for sedition.

I really wanna see this ass get his butt kicked.
He has a very punchable face. Too bad he wears cheek guards…
maybe he wears cheek guards because he kept getting punched in his very punchable face
Meanwhile in The Peak…
Prisoner 1: “Hey, what ya in for?”
Prisoner 2: “I punched Zuurith in the face.”
Prisoner 1: “HEY GUYS! WE GOT ANOTHER ONE! AYYY!”

Soooooo I’m guessing Zuurith’s mbti type is an unhealthy ESTJ, huh?
Law archetype? Looks much more like tyranny
Ah, tyranny. An inefficient solution to a nonexistent problem.
Amen!!!!!!
Ten billion points to gryffindor – Dumbledore
Ten billion years in jail – Zuurith
What’s that? He gets angry the second his worldview is poked with a ten-foot long stick? Wow, he IS a tyrant!
Oops, Kendal the blade is looking a little bent in panel five…
Are there laws against shit-talking Zuurith? I wouldn’t be surprised because plenty of real-world dictators do, but if not, he just assaulted a guy.
i mean, he is a dictator, so he can do whatever he wants no matter how much he brags about his “lawfulness”
Awwww that’s adorable, Zurrith thinks that if he ragequits the argument people will take it as a tie.
I wish that was how the world works.
Kendal, don’t taunt the angry, merciless law god!
Hard cut back to Vash: “THAT’S MY BOY! You tell that arrogant cockwart how it is!”
Off topic: me with an AP test next week I am dreading: There is no test. There is no test. THERE IS NO TEST. *Munches chips and ice cream*
There is no test on the Aurora webcomic

We’re so lucky we have our fantasies to keep us safe.

Funny how the law and order types always seem to be first with the violence.
I don’t like him… He’s a Richard.
