Fighting a Life Mage holding a giant life-magic battery inside an area noted for dense concentration of life has big ‘Zuko vs Katara at the north pole’ energy. A++ move Falst, racking up those redemption-by-association points from the get go
I feel like the poor kid has been needing a good hug for a while now. And Kendal-is-in-the-way might be the only thing that stops Alinua from delivering a severe ass-whupping
Guys! call me stupid for not working this out earlier. But the reason Alinua is do mad about the chimeras is not because of her connection to life magic or a love of all creatures. Instead it’s because she spent the last ten years of her life terrified of losing control and making Chimeras and learning that someone would make them of their own free will channels all of that fear into hatred of someone who would freely do what she believed she was cursed to do.
I feel like it’s part emotional shock and trauma, part valuing all creatures as equals to sapients. She thinks Falst deserves to die for magically-induced animal torture.
He’s the most likely culprit, seeing as how he’s the only local life mage around, and he has a potential motive: getting travelers injured to boost business for his clinic. (Considering the terrible s*** that people in real life do in the name of capitalism, him having a motive like that wouldn’t exactly be outlandish.)
There is a possibility of another life mage around that we haven’t seen yet, but I consider that scenario unlikely.
Anybody realize that Alinua’s eyes are sorta glowing more solidly than usual? And also that she’s growing plants more like Gleicann does, with all the big warped branches. Alinua is in a different Mad Mode than when she fought the Sentinel, basically.
Either way, this entire page is just great. Hopefully Jolon steps in soon, though…
Me too, for multiple reasons. She could end up channeling too much power and giving herself elemental corruption, she could easily give Falst serious injuries if she doesn’t outright murder him, and the chapter cover gives portent of the lacrima breaking, with catastrophic effects for all involved…
Basically this scene has “This is bad this iS BaD ThIS IS BAD” written all over it
Falst is like “That elf girl has a support role. She is no match for me. She does not have any of teh damagez!”
Hilarity is about to ensue and Falst will be at the wrong end of it. 🙂
Literally every character here: (fighting) GIVE ME THE LACRIMA
Me:(crying) please, this fight choreography is incredible, but please, you don’t know anything about each other or your motives, just TRY and talk to each other, please,
Hahaha love all the ALTA fans that have popped up in the comments since I last checked. (Shield looks like it’s about to get eaten, btw. you rise with the moon, i rise with the sun, anyone?)
Wise man once said, “Talk s**t, get hit”. Never underestimate the healer Falst.
Those aren’t the wrapping vines she normally uses, those things look sharp and dangerous, as do her eyes.
Oh, I’m so torn! This fight and magic choreography is amazingly drawn and executed so I want it to continue, but at the same time the lore and character lover in me wants them to stop fighting and talk it out and find the real culprit.
Wood punch! >:D Go Alinua!
Also tell me what you want, but even if the text isn’t green I can only hear her sentence in the sixth panel with Life-augmented voice ooOooWooOoo
And today, Falsy (auto carrot returns) learns that Alinua is not the gentle sweet and sensitive self of her first draft.
This fight has Katara VS Master Pakku energy.
Actually, Falsy sounds like a lovely nickname. Or trash-talk, whichever you prefer…
I second this! Nickname or trash-talk, or the fan name.
omae wa mo shindeiru
nani?
IT’S HERE! IT’S HERE!
Alinua vs Falst! Round 1!
FIGHT!!!
TL;DR the heart is also the big guy
Bold of you to assume Alinua is the heart and not Kendal
YOU’RE BACK
think it’s a different what… unless i’m wrong. again.
Yeah, it’s not him I guess.
Especially after what it tried to do in the past… ?

Panel 1 and panel 6 of Alinua makes her look so intimidating
Panel 6 is also low key terrifying
…any time you want to move in for a hug is good, Kendal. I’m freaking out here
Me too! I would appreciate a shield hug for Falst…

…even though Falst wasn’t the culprit…
You think the Doctor made the Chimeras?

“hey, I wouldn’t touch the lacrima if I were you”
Alinua: “lol OK”
Medicine is sufficiently advanced to refer to first aid.
I have a real bad feeling about alinua using that lacrima……..
Me too, for multiple reasons. She could end up channeling too much power and giving herself elemental corruption, she could easily give Falst serious injuries if she doesn’t outright murder him, and the chapter cover gives portent of the lacrima breaking, with catastrophic effects for all involved…

Yas!! Boss Aluina!
Falst is like “That elf girl has a support role. She is no match for me. She does not have any of teh damagez!”

He be cruisin for a bruisin
the face of “oh no” in the last one is priceless.
when you assume the nature cleric is JUST a healer.
everyone knows 5e clerics are badass.
All clerics. 5e has actually dialed back from the great codzillas of 35

Alinua fight scene is awesome but I kinda still want the talk it out option XD
when you tell the life mage, who is holding a catalyst, to calm down
Red said Healer Rights.

Shield, the larger white moon, is nowhere on this page; it’s just Sword (the red one).
Also, it doesn’t really look like it’s about to get eaten, it just looks like it’s about to dip below the horizon
Don’t hurt him too bad
On second thought, hurt him as much as you want. As long as you fix him up /rebuild him afterward.
Arrrrgh, just binge read all of the comic this morning, and now I have to wait till tomorrow like Everyone Else!!

TL;DR: Hubris floof #2 is hubristic, gets punched.
