“Oh my, good sir, we have no bad intentions we are just two troubled souls who HAVE DREAMS OF GLORY aaaand we just need to pass to find my, uh, dad ehem ehem”
Just give the poor children a chance good sir, they won’t bring the collector to your door and won’t bring the PLAGUE either. Ahh I just hope he leaves them alone.
TL;DR: Magistrate-floof reacts with concern at the notion of a sky, then abruptly switches focus to Chimera-mom and Vashtopia. Sword-floof affirms the safety of the city but Cloud-floof is less responsive to questions. In her defense, hers was much harder. Ponytail-floof is very insistent.
“Windcrest doesn’t have a god”
Correction: Windcrest doesn’t have an actively ruling god.
We all know the suspicious green bard is in this city somewhere.
They should lie and say something like
Alinua – “I come from and was coming to the city for trade, but was chased away by the chimeras. When I finally got away, the city was already gone, I found kendal in the woods and am tagging along as is on they way to his ‘dad’s'”
Kendal – “I come from Vash but left for a visit to my, uh, mother, and when I came back the chimeras already surrounded the town. I went to a town to get help, but noone wanted to as the chimeras clearly out numbered them, when I came back I viewed it from the bushes while trying to sneak behind the wall. I’m now journeying to my “dads” to stay with him. I met Allinua in the woods and she’s tagging along as her home is on the way to my ‘dads'”
It’s a believable story as it explains: how they know what happened, how they met, and where they’re going, without telling him the truth as
“I was a chimera bomb till a day ago” and “I didn’t exist till cash’s soul was sucked out his incarnation and am now inhabiting it” is a little far fetched
“What are you intentions towards my town?”
“We’re just friends, sir. I’ll have her home by 9.”
“Yes sir, I am aware of what other people did to your town, but I’m different, I swear”
“I’m not actually from vash, I was passing through when I found him bleeding out from a stab wound.”
…I thought he was nice
“Oh I’m the mostly-soulless remains of Vash and my friend carries the plague that creates the beasts that helped caused this whole thing”
So… dont panic but… I am Vash. Or.. used to be.
But they will probably bluff it out
Why is it that everyone knows who Vash is, but apparently nobody knows what he or his magical sword look like
“Oh my, good sir, we have no bad intentions we are just two troubled souls who HAVE DREAMS OF GLORY aaaand we just need to pass to find my, uh, dad ehem ehem”

The tapestry in the back of panel 3 has some great detail. I feel like it is taunting us with something plot relevant, or something.
It is, look at the lore pages for more info
holy shit
The magistrate does make a good point.
Also I’ll join in with everyone else and say how good that lamp and tapestry are.

“Windcrest doesn’t have a god”
Correction: Windcrest doesn’t have an actively ruling god.

The fate of Vash is frightening and sad
