I’d say the best thing so far is that this universe has 6 basic elements. Usually people go with the classical 4, the greek/chinese 5, 1, 2, or 3 if you wanna be really fundamental, but this is the first time a universe has fleshed out in 6.
Mine has 7, maybe 8 if you count electricity? Tho that’s considered more of a science, there’s a debate over calling things magic or science, the four basic ones are the most well known, people who study magic might know 5 or 6, and they gotta be really into history and/or physics and chemistry to know about the 7th
This person is literally confined to three frames in a single panel and yet I somehow already feel terrible for the poor, blank slate example character… Poor lily’s bean…
Tattoo girl as in a character with tattoos on her arm that Red drew in her sketches section, sorry if it came off as inappropriate. Turns out out it was a dude that we’ve never seen so yay new character
TL;DR: People want to know how old the storm is (because maybe it knocked over the precursor civilization) and what’s inside. But people don’t know the former because geology hasn’t been invented yet, and they don’t know the latter because of magic radiation. Mages can purge magic radiation, because they irradiate themselves from all the magic they cast, but it’s not that easy to purge this much radiation.
Oh, hey, this is actually a thing in real-world occultism, too! Generally after performing any sort of magic, it’s advised to do some sort of banishing ritual to cleanse yourself of any malign influences or unresolved energies that by have stuck to you in the process.
“Alchemists have long endeavored to create a conditioner that will enable our heroes to sojourn through the Storm while maintaining the natural luster their luxuriantly floofy hair, but tragically no such tonic has yet been discovered by mere demi-mortals. Elemental mages brave (or foolish) enough to hazard the perils of the Storm have returned bald… and those were just the luckiest returnees.”
I love how your magic system is balanced. Magic is strong and a great way to solve problems, but miss use could kill the mage. Strong but uncontrollable.

verb
gerund or present participle: malingering
exaggerate or feign illness in order to escape duty or work.
“while some thought I was malingering, they couldn’t see the pain I dealt with”
In this page it’s a malapropism for “lingering.” I would love to hear our beloved know-it-all elemental magus innocently throw out another couple malapropisms… and for it to go on quite a while before someone as educated as he actually notices and corrects them!
No, Dainix confirmed it. Ferin did not exist until after humans and elves left the Singing Caves and the extinction of the Ancients. This information is from 1.20.33.
I read everything until here in one go, where I got really tired in page 3, so I’m pausing by now and coming back later because I don’t wanna miss lore due to being tired. I’m having a lot of fun reading, but the information in this chap could be better spread
I’m sorry, are you suggesting omniscient narrators can’t have sick tattoos?
Every omniscient narrator should be assumed to have sick tattoos until proven otherwise.
“elemental coruption” looks realy nasty… poor Test-NPC-mage up there 🙁
Wait…. so that don’t know that Captain Planet is in the middle of the storm?

Yeah, I can only really think of Bionicle as another example of having six elements.
Yeah, the dragon prince doesn’t exist or anything
not yet
YES someone else knows The Dragon Prince?
My made up world: casually has nine elements
Twelve over here
What are they?

Mine has 118+, starting with Hydrogen

Grating, Fragile Sensation of Fingernails on a Blackboard: The Pen!
Give me your full textbook, tattoo person
he’ll be fine
So…no double update?
WHO COULD THAT BE? Is is perhaps…a new member of the party set to join our heroes on their quest?
ummmmmm those are three uncertainties
When you try to clean the cookie dough off your fingers but there is ALWAYS MORE.
this is such a good description

Ah yes, magical radiation poisoning. It’s like normal radiation poisoning, but instead of melting you turn into a tree.
Aha! There is a person behind the narration!
Yo is that the scene from the old book thing in the first panel? We have a tall guy, a short guy, and possibly another guy.

“that’s why I’m selling this all-new DETOX SMOOTHIE! Get rid of all those nasty magical trace energies for just 99.99 a month! SO REFRESHING”
Hah! get on my level! 24 elements and I have littile to no idea what at least 4 of them do!
Oh hey, corruption! I’m sure that concept won’t be relevant 11 chapters from now!
Rereading this page ten chapters down the line… Are those Lady Huracan and Umatz, standing in front of the storm>
That’s actually 3 uncertainties. Is this mage from a parallel school of the Spanish Inquisition?
“Malingering” is not a word. It *is* a nice combination of the “mal-” prefix with “lingering”, so, eh, whatever.

Well they certainly know what the hazards are
Corruptions and danger, but are they on par?
SPOILER ALERT!!!
Is that a small Ferin next to the ancient? Are they that old??
No, Dainix confirmed it. Ferin did not exist until after humans and elves left the Singing Caves and the extinction of the Ancients. This information is from 1.20.33.
GUYS IT’S ALHAITHAM GENSHIN IMPACT REALLLL
What was past me thinking
Erin is better than Alhaitham and he would win in a snark or magic fight between them
