Now this, this is tragedy in it’s purest form … those poor Ignans have to clean the bridges all over again.
Kendal, beyond the Northern Wyrm’s power to help, and now Alinua’s too. I predict a return of the angry Alinua we saw during the Glort battle next chapter; once again unable to assist her friends when they need it the most. I also fear Erin’s going to be her verbal punching bag; he led them here and Alinua’s faith in him was already shaky before that.
I do wonder though whether Rakhn timed that eruption with Alinua’s scream; part of me wouldn’t put it past him.
Oh dang, the lava is right behind them. Only option left I can see is Tess throwing caution to the wind, grabbing Alinua for a lighting jump into the ocean, and hoping the elf gets her act together to save them. Even if Alinua is too distraught to focus on a plant raft, I doubt the Northern Wyrm is willing to let her die in her ocean, especially from the indirect actions of Rakhn.
Given that Stefan just a blew a hole in him (that’s the second time today!) I would not be surprised if the timing was not as fortuitous as it seems, either

Awww I feel so bad for Alinua, the one person she cares about the most has been kidnapped and just when she almost got to him her tree got bweemed. I wish I could enter the story and comfort her but I guess weâll have to rely on Tess for that
I feel like Stephanâs additional hole in Rakhnâs flank mightâve accelerated this. He could have been planning to take a couple more minutes but when he saw that a superpowered human left a second hole in him, he went âThatâs IT!â And erupted.
Thanks to said hole, they are now right besides an exploding source of lava. So, unfortunately for Alinua, it seems like she is getting picked up and asked about her capacity to make a raft before she gets properly comforted. Ohh. Or maybe the mermaids and sekrai will be there by the coast to indicate to Tess where she should go, possibly accompanied by Erin and Dainix. Hell, some probably followed Alinua to the surface and watched everything go down. Thatâs marginally betterâŠ! Poor Alinua
yes yes I know this is very sad and Ali’s having a rough time and A VOLCANO IS ERUPTING, but are you looking at that stretch that Alinua is doing in the last panel? No one would look at our cotton candy elf and think ‘I bet she is the queen of uncomfortable stretches’ and here we are!
Oh noooo, the besties đ I’m so used to ‘powers connected to emotions’ that for a sec I thought Alinua’s grief caused the eruption… (Panel 3 is Rakhn’s throne at the caldera, right?)
The amount of angst this poor elf goes through as a result of picking the most selfless and damsel-able fighter as her emotional squishie person… My poor girl
Today Alinua has:
– Been blasted with Paladin magic
– Saved her friends from a shipwreck
– Had her own body mutate, unexpectedly and while she was unconscious
– Blown up a god-chimera from the inside
– Washed up on a volcano that immediately starts to erupt
– Discovered Kendal is already in danger again
– Arrived just too late to save him
Let it out girlie I would have collapsed two or three crises ago
