She opens the door, sees Flat escaping
Out the window, held back by their friends.
“That doesn’t look like bed rest,” Alinua says.
“STRETCHING,” Flat declares, and to his hammock wends.
Alinua, handing Dainix glass dust
For flashbang and smokebomb potions,
Suggests they all get some fresh air. “Yes,”
Kendal says, “I’d like to see the ocean.”
I think it was spell checker error and not the artist/balladeer’s fault. And I make a ton of spelling and syntax errors in my posts so I am willing to give creative writers plenty 0f forgiveness for their much less frequent mistakes. As one of Shakespeare’s characters said in A Midsummer Dream (I believe) “The play is the thing”.
Do you remember Sherman and Mr Peabody? And how after Peabody gave Sherman a corny historical statement there would be an off tone drum sound? I still find that sound playing in my head after looking at the first three panels. Silliness still puts a big smile on my face, And Falst looks so cutely embarrassed in panel seven with only his eyes and tail sticking out of his hammock, Can’t wait to he floofy hair flying the open sky!
Kendal: I’d like to leave these cuties together- I mean, I’d like to see the ocean!
Been absent the past few days due to work being too busy to comment, so I’ll throw in my two cents about the last two pages with Alinua. I’m cautiously hopeful that it’s a show that she’s taking time to appreciate the world and her new freedom, seeing it through not only Life’s eyes, but Tess’s too after her speech about home. She needs more time to fully recover the past few chapters trauma, but it’s good to see her be comfortable relaxing and moving about town.
Kendal suggesting a walk near the ocean, likely with Alinua, while the dungeon boys stay here. I genuinely don’t know if this is a genuine want for Kendal to see the sights, something he did allude to in his dream, in this moment of peace, a subtle play to get Dainix and Falst some alone time together, in a safe environment, or both.
Now here’s a question, six members of the gang, but I only see four hammocks. Is this the boys room and Tess and Alinua rooming elsewhere? Is Tess even sleeping with them or just dozing on the roof at night? Is it mixed with Erin in a separate, fancier room and Tess on the roof? Are there simply more hammocks just off panel? … Am I overanalysing this? Probably.
Seriously though, I think there’s probably more in the corners we can’t see, or another room entirely. As for Kendal, I’m sure he’s being genuine. He’s never actually seen the ocean for himself, although he has Vash’s memories of it, and I think Dainix and Falst will be coming with. Dainix probably hasn’t seen it either, and he’s the one who’s not big on being cooped up. Plus, no one’s leaving Falst to his own devices. He’ll pick a fight with the tide or something.
I like to think Falst is sleeping at Dainix’s feet like a housecat🥺
Maybe since Tess is made of metal comfort isnt really a requirement with her? Like she can fall asleep anywhere and it would be no less uncomfortable than a bed? (basically she sleeps on the floor)
I can’t tell if Kendal is completely oblivious to the budding queer romance or understands everything perfectly and just doesn’t mind third-wheeling.
Also I have to wonder about Argist’s laws (and Aurora’s laws in general). Is it okay that a person can just buy glassdust and make literal bombs? Don’t you need an alchemist’s license or something?
This may shock you, but matchmaking might not actually be particularly high on Kendall’s priorities right now! Dainix and Falst can work out whatever their feelings are towards each on their own time, meanwhile Kendall and Alinua have their own stuff to do.
Also, I’m sure Zuurith had lots of rules and regulations and licenses controlling exactly what alchemy can be performed in his city, but Argist seems a lot more relaxed, and smokebombs and flashbangs both seem relatively harmless to me – or at least, pretty nonlethal. So Argist probably isn’t too concerned.
Actually, no. It doesn’t shock me that matchmaking might not actually be particularly high on Kendall’s priorities right now!
That’s why I imagined two scenarios: one where Kendal is completely oblivious to the budding queer romance, and another where he understands everything perfectly and just doesn’t mind third-wheeling.
I don’t see Kendal trying to set anyone up anytime soon, but I don’t see why it would be so out of character to be interested in his friends’ relationships. Despite being somewhat naive, he’s very intelligent and has all Vash’s experience at his disposal constantly, and as a city god, Vash’s experience would mostly have been with people. And a lot of those people would have experienced romance and sexuality, even if Kendal doesn’t. Besides, he’s always been eager to learn about people. He has single-handedly unlocked the backstories for everyone in the Floof Squad one-by-one (bar Tess). In fact, he became distressed when he realised he DIDN’T know everything about Alinua from the get-go.
I’m not saying he SHOULD care, or that he’s concocting elaborate date ideas already, I’m just considering whether or not Kendal is picking up on all these signals. I can’t tell, because I don’t see why he would think anything of it. But I do wonder.
I think Dainix is just thinking of restocking his tools/supplies and not thinking about the customs (or laws) of other lands beside his home were it was completely acceptable, hinted at by the comment he was using his Mom’s recipe (with respect and nostalgia implied in voice). That’s my take at least.
I think it’s because he’s more…relaxed? Granted, he tried to sacrifice himself and subsequently almost died, and had to face his own fears about his abilities and purpose, as well as being told point-blank by Vash’s citizens he could be a little selfish and enjoy life. It’s too early to tell, but he’s either taken that to heart and we’re starting to see his true self emerging, or he’s still freaked out/processing, and his attempts to pretend everything’s fine is what’s causing the unusual behavior.
There’s actually at least six hammocks in the room. Four can be seen in the first panel, but the one Falst jumps into was out of view in the first panel, since it is in the corner between the window he was about to jump out of and the door Alinua came in from.
Also, that first panel is hilarious! And Dainix is so cute in his excitement about the glass dust, and Alinua’s droopy concerned ears are cute too, and Kendal’s excitement to see the ocean is so precious–Ahhhh! This is an overload of cuteness!
There once was a cute little cat
Who caused Dainix to go splat.
To his hammock did he
In embarrassment flee
And then spied on the others’ chat.
I think that’s just the hammock behind them in the first panel. There are two windows and Kendal’s and Dainix’ positions on the panel suggest we’re still looking in the same direction.
Also, in 2.1.10 you can see the corner I think you mean: no hammock’s there. (See also: Beanbag in panel 1 of this page is the same one Kendal sits in in 2.1.13, which is in the same corner we see in 2.1.10.)
yup. this is the first time he’s expressed a personal interest outside of that one dream sequence on 1-22-22 where he first figured out he had wants. i expect everyone to comment on that on friday. especially Falst, since he seems extra surprised in that last panel.
Every time I see ‘glassdust’ I mentally flinch. In a SMOKEBOMB?! Physical flinch.
This is glass, ground down to dust, yes? Tiny tiny glass razorblades that won’t wash off? THAT WILL BE GOING INTO A BREATHABLE CLOUD?!!
That sounds like ‘warcrime’ territory to me.
My take is that the glass dust is meant to be melted into glass spheres to hold the chemicals that will make smoke or flash/bang when exposed to air. They need to have some kind of easily breakable delivery system so you can throw them dramatically against the floor and vanish in the resulting puff of smoke.
“It’s a mostly-harmless material that can be used in a high-temperature process to coat objects in a thin shell of glass, kind of like the real-world cooking trick of spherification. Dainix uses it to make his pellets.“ – Red
Looks like you were right, good job!
Ooh, beach episode? I’d also like to see the ocean. (And each character’s reaction to it.) Also, snickering at how the hijinks stop the second Alinua gets back–and loving Dainix’s excitement over the glassdust.
Falst in the fifth panel is twisting my heartstrings. What’s on your mind, lil dude? You look worried. Or possibly upset.
How old is Kendal now? He was 10 days old when they were fighting Dr. Jolon way back in like chapter 10. The wiki says he’s 13, but I think that hasn’t been updated since the arc 2 started
Alinua: Yes, I should be–good lord, what is happening in there?!
Flast: Aurora Comic?
Alinua: Ah- Aurora Comic?! At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localized entirely within your bedroom?!
Flast: Yes.
Alinua: …May I see it?
Flast: …No.
Yeah idk, there’s been quite a few somewhat ambiguous timeskips. He is probably somewhere between 13 and 20 days old, which is still wild to think about.
It has been about a couple of days since the dawn of the 21st of the 6th sindahlan, seen at the end of Arc 1. By the Discord’s estimates, it is either the 23rd or 24th rn in-universe, meaning Kendal is about 2.5 weeks old.
Firstly, Kendal is about to see PLENTY of ocean.
Second. Falst’s covering and acting like he wasn’t about to leap out of a window is wonderful. Red joked about Falst being there to suffer, I say it’is best to have him flustered.
I also love that when he said “I’m going out!” he meant out the window. hahaha, like… I know you can jump off cliffs bestie but there’s a door right there and you’re injured. I love falste so much.
Love that apparently Falst wasn’t doing a bit or going for the door a few panels ago, he was fully committed to jumping directly out of the window the moment Dainix said something nice about him. Ferin physicality and Ferin discrimination have perfectly created a guy whose solution to a bad conversation is to yeet himself outta there like a ripcord. Iconic.
Anyone else waiting for Falst to accidentally jump out of a boat into the ocean now?
He was going out a window that (from the stairs in the last page) is at least one storey up without thinking. So what happens when they’re out at sea?
Panel 2 dainix going “oof” is the second funniest part. Panel 1 where they all have wide eyes and were apparently trying to stop Falst from jumping out the window is the #1 funny bit.
For mobile readers.

Care to join me?
Just boys being boys
And now while the flashbangs cook,
Let’s go to the beach!

Have you see how often this fella gets crushed? He might as well be.
HAHA
Spellchecker wants to know what nonsense we are all speaking of, of course he is flat what else would he 😂
*what else would he be
Beach episode? Beach episode. Beach episode! Yay.
“Ah, Alinua! I’m just… Stretching my calves on the windowsill. Isometric exercise! Care to join me?”
Falst is just stretching his calves on the windowsill! Isometric exercise!
I wasn’t expecting a steamed hams joke in Aurora, but as I’m typing this I realize I should’ve been

Oddly enough it appears to not have been intentional. “Stretching” must just be a natural first-instinct excuse when caught trying to crawl out a window.
The first panel XD
falst is such a Creature
he was gonna jump out the WINDOW?? 😭 this is what decades of emotional repression will do to a man
And this was all over a complement.
Look at Falst, lmao. La creatura.
SO real
They are all so adorable ;u;
And I feel you, Dainix. Oh, I feel you. But I feel Vash even more. Sea! Ocean!
Alinua! I was just, eh, stretching my calves on the windowsill! Isometric exercise! Care to join me?
Ah, superintendent Falst! I hope you’re prepared for an unforgettable sailing trip!
Ah, Superintendent Falst! I hope you’re prepareed for an unforgettable boat trip!
Ah, Superintendent Aliuna! I hope you’re prepared for an unforgettable boat trip!
Sympathies for being in the non-page-refreshing loop, @Chewable. Been there myself too.
Me, three. Siiiigh….
I just assume whatever I try to post, posted. Of course, most of what I post isn’t worth reposting anyway, lol
Love and adore this
awww my falst x dainix ship is beginning to sail
The first panel delivered even more than we were promised!

Falst is just stretching, at least so he swears
And they could do well stretching those legs of theirs
Eeeeeeeee they have hammocks ^♡^
boys will be boys (keeping each other from jumping out windows)
“Gotta stay niiiiiice and limber…”
“oh, alinua! i was just stretching my calves on the windowsill! isometric exercise! care to join me?”
Just doing some Isometric exercise! Care to join me?
Love how Danix just topples over in panel 2 🤭
That one panel with Falst looking worried, oh my goodness! The shipper in me is ready!
Damn this chapter Falst’s faces are GOLDEN!
Dannix why is there smoke comming out of the oven?
“That’s not smoke it’s steam!”
THE LITTOL FACES AT THE BEGINNING
Imma call it, nothing can top the first panel on this page. That is the greatest panel ever.
(also we like ali looking out for her friends mental and physical health)
Huh, Falst looks a bit guilty about David’s injuries.
red is feeding us with the falst faces
crustables gang is getting FEDDD
okay but why is this page giving “kendal got replaced by a shapeshifter” vibes?
I think it’s because he’s more…relaxed? Love how falst was actively fighting kendal & dainix but the second alinua showed up he stopped. You don’t upset the healer. She will destroy you.
or worst, scold and guilt trip you within an inch of your life…
I love how when Alinua shows up the big is up. Yes ma’am, bedrest it is.
“ALINUA! I was just, uh- Stretching my calves, On the Windowsill! *Isometric Exercise!* Care to join me?”
I also saw Steamed Hams vibes from that panel.
I love all of Falst’s silly faces, especially the one in the last panel. He’s definitely still half feral.
OML this page and this comments section have me out of breath, I can’t stop laughing
There’s actually at least six hammocks in the room. Four can be seen in the first panel, but the one Falst jumps into was out of view in the first panel, since it is in the corner between the window he was about to jump out of and the door Alinua came in from.

is this Kendal’s first earnest desire that isn’t saving Vash or protecting someone else? i’m gonna have to go through every page again just to check.
yup. this is the first time he’s expressed a personal interest outside of that one dream sequence on 1-22-22 where he first figured out he had wants. i expect everyone to comment on that on friday. especially Falst, since he seems extra surprised in that last panel.

I feel significantly less horrified by that.

I find it REALLY weird to be talking about a character, who is for all intents and purposes an adult, being DAYS old! It’s so true tho!
It has been about a couple of days since the dawn of the 21st of the 6th sindahlan, seen at the end of Arc 1. By the Discord’s estimates, it is either the 23rd or 24th rn in-universe, meaning Kendal is about 2.5 weeks old.
Was- WAS THAT A STEAMED HAMS REFERENCE?!?!?
I love that they have hammocks. Of *course* they do. Can’t wait to see the sea myself.
Main takeaway I get from this is, Alinua is the adult. The only adult.
I fully expect Kendal to wind up having a conversation with the god of the ocean itself, whether he wants to or not.
Also, I really hope we get to see Falst chill out, through having some positive city interactions!

Falst is just waiting for the Steamed Hams to be done
We need a chapter where they all ruthlessly beat a filler villain into the ground >:)
Iconic.
Ah, yes. My daily source of dopamine.
Anyone else waiting for Falst to accidentally jump out of a boat into the ocean now?
He was going out a window that (from the stairs in the last page) is at least one storey up without thinking. So what happens when they’re out at sea?
TL;DR: BUSTED!!! Now we have to actually take care of ourselves…
Falst radiates the same energy as my sister’s cat
lollllll the first two panels are so funny i love them
Falst + Dainix = Fanix or Dainix + Falst = Dalst?
Panel 2 dainix going “oof” is the second funniest part. Panel 1 where they all have wide eyes and were apparently trying to stop Falst from jumping out the window is the #1 funny bit.
