P.S: It’s interesting how the forward button on the previous page aint showing up yet — I got here through the adress bar! Is it like that for anyone else?
I have Aurora bookmarked on my iPod, and I just know that she uploads on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I just clicked my little button that automatically opens the newest page, whatever that is.
Yeah, I guess I’m just still in the habit of avoiding the main page in case there’s a double update & I end up seeing the second page first. Of course, double updates haven’t worked like that in a very long time. Now I just stick to the page–specific URL so the comments don’t break cuz apparently that’s a thing
@young, you forgot Red’s stated purpose for this webcomic. But whatever floats your boat. Hmmm I can’t find that stated in About/User guide in the web description that says it started as a nonsexual fantasy adventure story. That is what started me reading (experiencing?) this story. Sorry!?
Red has shared a screencap of some texts on Tumblr, mentioning how there is going to be at least one romantic subplot in the future*, however I doubt it will be intrusive, and I’m CERTAIN there will be no sex. I hope this doesn’t spoil you enjoyment
*This was a while back (in 2021), the plan may or may not have changed.
@Aulde Well, Red did mention that she didn’t want a story with forced romantic sublots in it, and that she doesn’t really enjoy most of them (she did have a list of some she did) – but she once said something along the lines of ” I cannot promise there won’t be any romantic sublots at all”. I, too, do not see Tess and Ali going anywhere for the time being (and my current opinion; in general), but I do not believe Red ever flat out stating she will never add a romantic pairing somewhere in the plot, if only just not to limit her future plot threads.
Thank you @Random & @Testing for your insights! As long Red is telling/showing a story enjoyable to pre-teens, teens and post-teens I will be coming back to enjoy the Aurora story. If I may post, I find Red’s work to be artistic, witty, gentle and insightful (and has a nice singing voice too!) (Sorry if I am preaching to the choir )
My understanding is that Red doesn’t really get most romantic subplots (paraphrased from her Trope Talk on Romantic Subplots), but she has described the sexual orientations of several Aurora characters, which leads me to believe that she has definitely considered which of these characters are romantically compatible. That said, I’m pretty sure that Kendal is completely asexual, making him a very rare example of leading role ace representation. It also handily sidesteps the fact that he’s a few weeks old and his emotional maturity is extremely questionable.
Thing is, if it’s constantly trying to get to Falst, then it’s like Erin has a Destination Compass. It’ll always stay pointing at the intended recipient and it’s easier to follow than having to run after it and climb over terrain, possibly losing it.
Oh absolutely, what I meant was that there’s no real point in recording a message if he’s not letting the bird out of reach. Falst will receive the message just a few seconds before Erin and Alinua themselves show up. I guess it might’ve a necessary component of the spell or just a reflex/habit on Erin’s part though. It doesn’t really matter either way.
Make sense to restrain birb spell, much easier to follow. I wonder if Erin figured out by himself, with help or it was already a known spell? Must wait and see if some comments on it in Aurora in future.
I’m looking back and forth between this page and the last ones, trying to figure out if that’s a normal amount of glow on the sword or if it’s gem flaring up for some(imminently plot relevant) reason?
Some people sleep with their eyelids half-open sometimes (it is due to their eye/eyelid shape combo, I would know). My question is why are his entire scleras glowing? Only time I remember this happening was when he received the sword for his arena fight, and made suddent contact with Vash after a long time (a very sweet panel). He is also moving a lot more in these past few pages. Something intense is going on in there.
Oh yeah tis true, I just thought like most of the time eyes are mildly open in drawn stuff its like a sign. There’s a blue line by his hand too. Something’s definitely up lol you’re right.
Watch the birdie!
I am the only one getting chapter 7 vibes with the gang going into caves on rescue missions and one gets godly glowing eyes, and twitching, while asleep? It’s no 1-to-1, Erin and Alinua are going in better prepared than just a torch and Tess isn’t in any danger. She’ll just join the “exasperated with Kendal” gang as he tries to help while still severely injured.
Makes sense to keep the bird on a leash; you don’t want to cast multiple ones if you lose track of it in a crag or bad terrain. I bet that if Erin wasn’t in a rush back in Zuurith, that’s what he would have done. It also minimises the risk of the bird hitting people at speed, a pain Erin knows all too well.
Starting fires with sparks from metal and stone? … Probably a good idea as Dainix hasn’t got the hang of his powers and minimises the gas explosion risk. He must be reasonably sure they’re safe from immediate danger too.
Prediction for next week: Dainix lights his fire, inspects the injured Falst, and maybe discovers that no, they are not safe from immediate danger. … That of Falst lets some of his backstory slip in his moment of weakness.
I don’t know how many people saw what I said yesterday, but I’m doing hypothetical fights between an Aurora character and an outside character. I’ll do it as long as I can, and only once per week, on Friday. This is so that we have something to do on the weekend, while we wait for the new page. I’ll make sure to explain the powers of the other character, just in case someone doesn’t know who they are.
This week its Erin versus Aang from the Avatar the Last Airbender show.
Aang is 12 years old and the Avatar, therefore, he can control all four elements (fire, water, earth, air). The elemental abilities in this show are similar to the abilities in Aurora. Aang also has the ability to go into the avatar mode, for lack of a better word, which makes him much more powerful, but he has less self-control.
Sorry if I didn’t describe his powers very well, I figured from prior comments that most, is not all, knew who he was. Now, how do you all think this fight would go?
I might be biased since Erin is my favourite character, but I believe he would win the fight for one reason: Life magic. It is a force that, as I understood your explaination, Aang can not control, and it is the most dangerous form of magic as well. Erin could induce chimeric mutations in anything, as far as I know, so people should count as well. On the other hand, this would require him to completely lose any kind of moral compass he has, so you could argue that he would never try.
Then again, my understanding of ATLA is that Aang is completely pacifist and would try to avoid actually hurting Erin. (This analysis is based on OSP content regarding ATLA, I have not watched the series.) So since Erin at least is willing to inflict pain upon his enemies he might have an advantage. Erin also has the tactical genius that Aang lacks. And in the worst case scenario VD might come back to join the fight, though it’s uncertain whom this would actually benefit. (My guess is Aang would immediately do a Kendal and try to help Erin.)
That’s a good idea. My take:
On one side I don’t think Aang would hurt Erin, but also I don’t think Erin would be able to get a good hit. There is also the time Erin takes to activate his magic, sometimes Aang doesn’t have to. So Aang could probably nock him out during that time. That might wake up the VD who could win against the Avater state because of life magic (which I feel if stronger than then healing properties of water) and just destroy everything till Aang turns to dust. More likely Erin would be really confused to see another elemental mage, probably keep attacking because he can ask questions afterwards. And Aang would stop fighting when he saw Erin using air bending and try to deescalate the conflict. Which Erin would probably expect. Erin explaining he isn’t actually an air bender, would be quite awkward and sad, poor Aang.
Basically they would probably stop fighting, if VD gets involved Erin wins, or if they can’t brute force control of the elements away from each other and my assumption that Erin needs to activate his magic by touching his tattoos is correct (has he used more that two elements at a time?) Aang wins by not having those limitations.
I’d say Erin is generally more powerful but it really comes down to if Aang can overpower him with that soul-bending stuff he used at the end then he wins
For mobile readers.

have the page numbers been fixed yet?
Nope
Asked why page numbers were off last week. https://comicaurora.tumblr.com/post/718024251518697472/from-12123-onwards-the-page-number-in-the-image
Timing!
Heh, we really ARE getting the duos. Now Tess just has to somehow convince Kendal not to go haring off to heroics for ONCE in his life!
P.S: It’s interesting how the forward button on the previous page aint showing up yet — I got here through the adress bar! Is it like that for anyone else?
yeah, same here too!
Yeah, it always does that – it tends to take a few minutes for the site to properly update.
Yeah, that happens a lot for me. I usually click on the Aurora logo, or manually type the url.
I have Aurora bookmarked on my iPod, and I just know that she uploads on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I just clicked my little button that automatically opens the newest page, whatever that is.

Does that make Alinua and Tess ambigously gay duo? 🙂

Of all the heroes, Tess is the one capable of literally sitting on Kendal to keep him from running around.
Wait, is he keeping the message birb on a leash?
Looks that way. Very clever, although it makes the whole message sort of moot.

Might be a requirement of the spell, and a decent back up in case he loses the leash for some reason
I noticed that too… that explains how he kept up with it when looking for Tess back in Zuurith.
Make sense to restrain birb spell, much easier to follow. I wonder if Erin figured out by himself, with help or it was already a known spell? Must wait and see if some comments on it in Aurora in future.
tess is so. she’s. she,, ??❣️
ah— the sword seems to have been a VERY good idea
Two are on their way
Two stay back, one guards the “sword”
One more tries for light
(Bonus)
And of course they leave
Right when he shows signs of life!
How inconvenient!
I’m looking back and forth between this page and the last ones, trying to figure out if that’s a normal amount of glow on the sword or if it’s gem flaring up for some(imminently plot relevant) reason?
Oh that’s DEFINITELY important glow. Look at his eyes, they’re glowing the exact same way!
Ooh, ominous eye glow
Wowwww why are Kendal’s eyes open
Some people sleep with their eyelids half-open sometimes (it is due to their eye/eyelid shape combo, I would know). My question is why are his entire scleras glowing? There once was a band of six
Who split the plot betwixt
Three pairs of friends.
Their only end’s
To get everyone out of this fix.
TL;DR: Oh no, they split the party and it’s a zombie movie…
AAQ #4: What do you think is up in Kendals dream-sequence right now?
Tl;dr: Guiding, Guarding, Grinding
Uh… I thought the TL;DR was my thing?
I thought TL;DR stood for ‘Too Long;Didn’t Read’
It does, but it’s the only thing I do here and I want to have some sort of purpose.
It would be ironic if Kendal woke up the minute that Alinua and Erin left. Like all he needed to wake up was that extra push of having sword Kendal.
One duo goes down, one duo just stays
And a spark alights the third with a blaze
Why is it that you people’s first instinct, when Kendal is injured, is to take a part of him away from him?
TESS WATCH OUT HE’S GOING TO GO FOR THE SWORD
OH NO SHE HAS AIRPODS IN

It looks like Kendal is subtly raising his right forearm in his sleep, reaching for his sword.
Theory: Danix is scraping off stuff from the walls to help him recharge his fire. “How?” you might ask. By eating rocks.
HEY KENDAL’S CHIN IS MOVING GUYZ I THINK HES WAKIN UP YALL
