One possible answer is that if they’re on the Australian east coast, the update time is a fairly comfortable 6 or 7pm. So it wouldn’t be too hard for someone in that timezone to schedule to be on desktop/laptop around that time, between work/uni/school and dinner.
I’m on the US West Coast. Updates drop at 12:00 AM Standard Time/1:00 AM Daylight Savings Time. I have alarms set for 10 minutes before so I’m prepared to leap into action once the pages are posted.
Holy sh*t! I’m also on the west coast, and I’m always asleep when the page updates; by the time I get here first thing after I wake up around 7am, there’s already 20 or 30 comments here, and I have trouble trying to find something to say because, usually, everyone else has already said what comes to mind.
See, Erin DOES have a self-preservation instinct. To the point that he’ll tell an unconscious man not to tell Alinua he suggested he stay asleep. Baby steps, folks. Baby steps. Maybe on Friday he’ll wonder where the hell the cat and the fireman are.
V.D. fears Life and Erin fears Alinua. It’s like poetry, it rhymes.
From Erin’s words I get the impression that, while alive, Kendal may be out of commission for a chapter or two. This gives both a chance for interactions with him and the rest of the party, and a limiter on the power of the gang, keeping a sense of danger despite two additions to their number.
I don’t know about “restful” but Kendal does seem peaceful there. In fact the place Kendal is looks a lot better than when we saw it last in 1-19-14; I see no shadow hands and light is now coming from above him rather than just from him. Could this be a sign that he’s starting to pull through? The the other’s words are getting to him?
I’m predicting Kendal will wake himself up without outside aid, partly to further his own sense of agency in the story and partly because I don’t see Vash helping, even if he the sword was nearby. The Collector knows Vash has a backdoor somewhere; if he tries to contact Kendal he might reveal his nature/location to her.
storylineobsessed, I know that I’m not. Feels like the kind of ironically casual conversation that my siblings have when we need to wait for a better time to fully express ourselves, but still want to express care.
Good to hear some of Erin’s private thoughts about Kendal, and looking like we’ll finally get to see the dealio that’s stopping the healio.
Dainix said he was going to keep watch and Falst has broken off from the group to scout for threats before in Chapter 11. I hate to say it, but both have a good reason not to be in eyeshot and not enough time has passed yet for their absence to seem unusual.
Maybe Tess might have a look around on her own accord, maybe Kendal or Alinua might see something in their dreams. But unless something like that happens, rescue for the boys looks a while off.
I’m expecting Team Redhead will have to get out of that hole themselves. Then they’ll arrive back at camp injured and tired, and everyone will be like “What happened to you two?”
eh, tbf Falst is always wandering off and they only just met Dainix (who immediately volunteered for guard patrol) so it makes sense that they haven’t yet noticed anything out of the ordinary yet
YESSSSSSS FINALLY RED THANK YOUUUUUU
Everything has kind of already been said about story rn, but I haven’t heard anyone talking about Red’s art lately! It’s just GORGEOUS, when I saw that last panel I considered changing my computer wallpaper (aGaIN)
Also!! I might get materials for an aurora conspiracy board for christmas, do y’all have any good lines for visitors other than “you shouldn’t have seen that” and quickly hustle them from the room
Mine is hidden under my desk for the time being, as I haven’t figured out where to hang it yet (which is a shame, because it turned out really pretty). That means I can dramatically pull it out of nowhere whenever I want to adjust something/confuse someone 🙂
As for materials, I suggest colorfull string and small sketches of the characters/scribbled jokes to add to the theories
I am glad you are aware of the fullness of Red’s skill. Not only is she good at storytelling, dialogue and characterization Red is also an excellent at drawing (the picture of scenes), colorization, catching a set of scenes in time visually that hold together!
Yea!! I remember when I first found Aurora, it was bc Red mentioned her comic once & I BEELINED here, because I was DANG excited for a full webcomic of her art <3. I was not disappointed- nor have I been since. I have screenshotted pages to show friends before, and will do so again.
Well, I know that Erin has done self-destructive actions several times in the story so far, but the fact that he says that he’s no stranger to it must mean that he’s not just talking about that; he must have performed self harm in the past for him to talk like he has a history of doing it. Perhaps it had something to do with Tess’s enslavement, or his own past powerlessness (whatever that ends up being) that he and Tess have alluded to, or something else entirely, or some combination of all those. In any case, though… he needs a hug.
Ok I know we’re all concerned about Kendal and rightfully so but WHERE are Alinua and Tess going. Will they save Dainix and Falst? Will they have a heart-to-heart and get to know each other better? Will they kis
My reply to Jackalope on the previous page, regarding Alinua and Tess becoming romantically involved right now:
“I don’t think so. In-story, these two just met each other literally last night. No one develops genuine romantic feelings for someone else that quickly.”
Regarding the other options, Alinua’s need for sleep takes precedence over conversation or a perilous situation that she doesn’t know about yet. She’s very tired.
Oh yeah I know! I’m definitely not expecting anything to happen between them (I actually find the lack of canon romance refreshing) but it would be funny if I was right
yeah, Tess is gonna put Alinua down and offer some small words of comfort, and Alinua is probably just gonna fall asleep halfway through. girlie is T I R E D
The bridal carrying of Alinua by Tess is a funny picture and good contrast to the seriousness of other scenes/panels here. But another sweet way to look at Tess is acting like a supporting mother to the emotional distressed elf. Elves are known to feel emotions more intensely then other beings, or at least humans. Aliuna has been living hermit until recently and not used to dealing with emotional distress and needs the support of a mother figure, which Tess is good at, after being supportive to Erin so long.
Out of context, the first two panels look like Erin says “you too” to Tess and then facepalms because there’s no way she’ll get possessed.
Erin’s probably referring back to chapter 11, when Kendal took a nap and connected with Vash. I don’t think that’s what’s happening here. I think he’s more drifting than anything. Maybe we’re about to get some insight into how Kendal’s soul works!
“Don’t do that. And definitely don’t tell Alinua I suggested it.” I love this. Erin makes a good point then backs up and says, wait, no, don’t make Alinua mad. He’s starting to have self-preservation! And smart thoughts! And common sense!
some who loves dragons another way to look at Erin’s concern is that he has empathy for Aliuna’s feelings and cares and shares in them- giving breath to Erin’s character. To put another way, Red knows how create more than one note (and does so excellently, too!)
I know, right! Everybody’s always nice and has lot of interesting stuff to say! (I mentioned the general wholesomeness of the comments section to my dad and he concluded that this couldn’t possibly exist on the internet, it’s that wholesome)
I’ve read a lot of things on sites owned by big, popular companies (this is mostly Webtoon I’m referring to) and while stories there can be amazing, the comments section are almost always toxic in one way or another. I’ve found some nice comment sections, but only in really small webcomics (or often DnD webcomics, some of those comment sections are great). This is a really good comments section because
A) on the rare occasion there’s an offensive, unfair, horny or otherwise not welcome comment, other commenters let the OP know it’s not okay (and usually nicely), and OP often takes it back.
B) not up voting or down voting. Everyone’s comment is equally important, and you don’t have to dig really deep to find people with less votes and replies on their comments, because everyone is equally visible.
C) WE REALISE THAT THESE CHARACTERS ARE PEOPLE AND PEOPLE MAKE MISTAKES AND THIS IS PERFECTLY FINE AND IT’S CALLED CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. Oh my god, this one I really struggle with. In other comment sections, if a character makes a single bad choice, a whole lot of people will bring out knives and declare that they don’t deserve anything anymore. If those people saw Erin, he’d be murdered by the fandom because of all the mistakes that are slowly making him a better person. The only thing that came close to the ‘let’s kill this guy’ sentiment was about Zuurith, and, like, I get it guys. Those weren’t mistakes, those were carefully thought out actions.
D) we genuinely listen to each other, enjoy reading each other’s comments, consider when someone brings a good point to the table, and are just all round nice.
This is what a fandom should be.

I’m really impressed. I don’t even know where you get the image source from
@Robotics5 I right-click the page and open the image in a new tab. The image source is the word right before the “.png” part of the URL.
whaow e’s in tha worter
well it took a near-death experience but at least Kendal is finally getting some dang sleep
Spoilers, I don’t think he is
AAAAAAAAAAA
e’s in tha worter…..
See, Erin DOES have a self-preservation instinct. To the point that he’ll tell an unconscious man not to tell Alinua he suggested he stay asleep. Baby steps, folks. Baby steps. Maybe on Friday he’ll wonder where the hell the cat and the fireman are.
Traditionally, the cat is up a tree ad the fireman is trying to get him back down safely without getting scratched too much.
To be fair, that is basically what their interactions have been like so far.
now i can’t get the picture of falst up a tree, hissing at dainix as he tries to get him to come down, out of my head.
Heehee “fireman” ?
This is why I read comments.
Are we finally taking a trip to Kendal’s mindscape?
We know he’s a hero, that’s nothing new
But kind of self-destructive, and Erin knows that too
“I’m no stranger to self destruction.” I smell lore and angst, you have captured my attention :eyes:
Just realised this implies Tess is the only one of them that doesn’t have self destructive tendencies. And that kinda makes sense.
1. I can’t wait to see the Erin try to bully Kendal into being less self-destructive
2. Look at the mountains behind Kendal’s head… Looks like a map…
Are we all ignoring that Tess told Erin to shout out if he got possessed and Erin replied “You too”
I mean, you never know…
Although it may actually be applicable, he totally did that on accident/autoresponse and no one can convince me otherwise.
right up there with “enjoy your meal” “you too”

I needed to hear that rhyme today.
Oh hey, we can reply to each other directly! Neat! Glad that it gave you some joy.
Could someone please be slightly concerned at the absence of Dainix and Falst? It’s beginning to make me anxious.
Dainix said he was going to keep watch and Falst has broken off from the group to scout for threats before in Chapter 11. I hate to say it, but both have a good reason not to be in eyeshot and not enough time has passed yet for their absence to seem unusual.

I mean I’d say “Don’t worry about it!” Very cheerfully while grinning and continuing to work on it? Don’t know if that fits
Just explain to them everything that’s going on on the board in detail in the most deranged voice possible. They’ll leave on their own
Just try and fail to cover it with your body while pretending it doesn’t exist. For comedy points.

Ah, I didn’t detect the satire. Carry on, then.

“I do not envy you the headache you’ll have when you wake up. Until then, rest well and dream of large women.”
I’m sorry, I couldn’t help it. Erin’s dialogue reminded me inescapably.
Now I’m imagining Kendal, inconceivably, losing a sportsmanlike wrestling match to Erin.
THAT’S WHAT IT WAS REMINDING ME OF
I mean like at least the evil hands are gone
“Don’t do that. And definitely don’t tell Alinua I suggested it.” I love this. Erin makes a good point then backs up and says, wait, no, don’t make Alinua mad. He’s starting to have self-preservation! And smart thoughts! And common sense!

@TheUnknownGame Yeah, I get the same problem. Sometimes I post stuff anyway, though.
Hellooo shirtless man. Do I want to be him or f*** him. Stay tuned
Uummm, neither. Have you seen this boy’s life?
Very true. Conclusion, I want to give him a hug

TL;DR: I’m not projecting!

What’s a sef straight?
late but a sef is the fantasy name for a week in aurora
so the line would be “if i were you i’d sleep for a week straight”
