Excuse me??!! Harry Potter quite literally came first, book 4 (the first book harry spies on voldy in a dream) came out in 2000, the first percy Jackson book came out 2005, it’s not to weird to think someone would think of Harry Potter first. And harry Potter is a good book. If it’s because of Rowling’s views, I can see why you’re mad, but separate art from the artist. If you don’t want to pay her money, there are free YT video’s of people reading it like a free audiobook.
It’s fully not true; it’s a whole thing but basically she made a joke in an old video about it and people still take it to mean she doesn’t like PJO, an idea which she exhaperatedly denies at every turn.
You know, for a soul-stealing unknown quantity with a propensity for disassembling souls the same way a cat might disassemble a cricket, she’s got a very cozy setup.
God, it feels like forever since we’ve seen the Collector.
Also: I have an interview for an Adult Nursing degree at the University Of Manchester today! Wish me luck because I’m as nervous as Bambi on rollerskates!
UPDATE: Thank you all for your support! I’ve had the interview now, and I think it went rather well if I do say so myself! I’ll find out what the University thought of me sometime next week, so Red’s next three pages cannot come soon enough.
So that’s why the Collector is stealing souls! She wants to turn gods into funky coloured lamps!
Nice cosy evil lair she has, I wonder where in the caves this is, or even if they are still in the caves anymore. I can’t immediately tell what those specks of light are in the black part of the final panel.
Work towards freeing Vash while awake and gather intel while asleep. See Kendal, sleeping isn’t a waste of time. Though something tells me that, like other heroes that get these dreams, while there is a tactical advantage Kendal will not enjoy the experience.
I’ve got a few ideas as to why Vash over other cities. Maybe it’s part of a larger scheme to get Tynan to shore to steal his soul too, maybe the city’s centralised bowl shape simply made it easier for her to destroy, maybe Vash’s tendency to fight a threat himself head-on with an incarnation made him more vulnerable than other gods that may use different tactics.
Hopefully Monday will yield answers from a chatty Collector. C’mon Collector, you know you want to give a villainous monologue!
“Why MY city?”
“Well I’ve been meaning to collect the soul of a city god for some time now, and I was walking by vash and decided to stop putting it off….
The main thing I’m curious about is if Kendal was drawn to Vash on his own or if Vash called him there once he fell asleep. If this is something Kendal could control, I imagine it could be pretty useful in the future. Especially if it works for gods other than Vash if the team needs advice from a god far away.
The Collector is gonna notice and rudely kick Kendal out, probably.
In fact, does the Collector even know Kendal exists? Because I don’t think she does. She was too busy making fun of Vash for being sad that his entire reason for existing was destroyed.
Why do you think Vash doesn’t want her to see Kendal? If she sees him, she knows someone’s after her and will take further precautions, but if she has no clue, floof gang gets the element of suprise.
…Finally caught up to the current comic and now I gotta wait. 🙁
I’ve actually been wondering if maybe the soul collector and the void dragon could each solve the other problem. Like, ok, maybe she could rip the connection out of Erin and the Dragon could unmake her in the process or something?
Or, well, maybe she could unmake the dragon?
….Hrm….why IS she collecting and disassembling all those souls? is…is she planning on destroying the void dragon?
That whole ‘the Collector cold help Erin’ theory is a popular one. The obvious risks of course, are that it might hurt Erin, that the Collector might also want Alinua and Kendal, for their unique soul situations, and that sending Erin into the Singing Caves is especially dangerous, as they lead to the Void Dragon itself.
Or the collector grabs the dragon AND Erin. Or decides to refuse them just to see how things will turn out. Or maybe the dragon will attack the collector if she does try to remove him…. Wow there are a lot of possibilities even if mine are ridiculous.
That’s adorable! I too like drawing with pencil on paper so I can appreciate all the work that must’ve gone into it (or you actually bother coloring and not giving up when your hand tells you never to pick up another colored pencil). Plus you can actually draw people unlike me (sad noises) I tried! But not with Aurora characters yet.
Sooo, I’ve been wondering what’s gonna happen to Kendal when they find Vash. Given Kendal only exists because Vash was forcefully vacated from his body, does Kendal have a soul as defined by the world? Forget that question, obviously Kendal the puppy dog sweetheart has a soul, but will he be fused with Vash? Will Vash have to make himself a new manifestation? Will he and Kendal share a body? Is Kendal actually the sword, I don’t remember seeing him separated from it more than a few feet this whole time? Will Kendal cease to exist? Will Kendal get promoted to some kind of Demi-god thing? My hope is that Kendal, who definitely has his own identity and life at this point, gets to stay an individual, maybe he and Vash can share headspace until… Wait, Vash manifested in the first place from the sword, if my hope is right Kendal doesn’t get to keep the sword because it’s clearly an artifact of Vash but he may be able to create a new manifestation once he’s strong enough and Kendal can live out a life.
You can speculate all you want but I feel it’ll be a while until we get an answer. I appreciate reading all the things you theorists pull out though. Maybe it’ll be long enough that everyone cries if it ends up as a sad ending, I myself am hoping for a happier ending in these trying times (which may not be so trying a decade or so from now).
oki so vash is with the colector and can share his view when Kendal sleeps? seems like it would be a good thing to have slept earlier in the story then.
Uh oh.
Okay, so we have the “eavesdropping on the antagonist” dream.
Okay, cool, cool. This is fine. This is fine.
BIG Percy Jackson energy right here.
I’m not the only one thinking that!?!?
And Vash indicates that she can pick up on him being there. Just like some of the villains in PJO could.
I was thinking Harry Potter
Begone, heathen.
Excuse me??!! Red doesn’t like Percy Jackson, so the idea probably doesn’t come from there. That said, it is a pretty common fantasy troupe.
I’m a PJO fan, but even so I’ll admit the villains ARE pretty weak, at least in my opinion.
Same. I think the morally grey characters sre very strong though
Really? Did she say that in a video or a podcast or what?
I NEED TO KNOW.
It’s fully not true; it’s a whole thing but basically she made a joke in an old video about it and people still take it to mean she doesn’t like PJO, an idea which she exhaperatedly denies at every turn.
it’s the COLLECTOR, i wonder what she’s doing now
… probably preparing dissecting materials
You know, for a soul-stealing unknown quantity with a propensity for disassembling souls the same way a cat might disassemble a cricket, she’s got a very cozy setup.
Yeah that blue lighting seems really snazzy and in no way sinister.
wait…
😛
Vash: ‘BOUT TIME you went to sleep, Kendal, m’boy.
Bold of you to assume Vash knows about sleep when one of his memories made Kendal realise he needed sleep
holy shit
God, it feels like forever since we’ve seen the Collector.
Also: I have an interview for an Adult Nursing degree at the University Of Manchester today! Wish me luck because I’m as nervous as Bambi on rollerskates!
Go on my dude you can do this
Best of luck, I’m sure you’ll do great.
That’s probably because the last time we saw her was mid 2019
Also, good luck mate! you got this!
Good luck! you’ve got this in the bag!
UPDATE: Thank you all for your support! I’ve had the interview now, and I think it went rather well if I do say so myself! I’ll find out what the University thought of me sometime next week, so Red’s next three pages cannot come soon enough.
Yay for you! Go Patroclus!
I hope you get it! Glad to see you’re confident in you self.
Aw yeah! Let us know if you get in!
Good luck buddy!
?Nice! Hope you get it!

Consider yourself liked, good sir!
Liked. I really wish this site let you actually like comments.
I’m so happy to see my terminology used
Fancy
Man, why don’t I ever get dreams like this??
Wait, you don’t? I thought everyone had these sort of dreams.
So relatable, I mean, who doesn’t spy on their enemies during dreams from time to time.
So that’s why the Collector is stealing souls! She wants to turn gods into funky coloured lamps!

Or, for bonus indifference (which seems to be one of the Collector’s key traits, along with ruthlessness and politeness), she could be all like:
“Why MY city?”
“There was no particular reason. I just happened to be close to Vash at the time.”
“Why MY city?”
“Well I’ve been meaning to collect the soul of a city god for some time now, and I was walking by vash and decided to stop putting it off….
“The ambiance was nice, I have to say, though everything did seem rather overpriced…I was doing travelers a favor by wiping it from the map :)”
I’ve suddenly had the strangest idea of fitting lava lamps into a fantasy setting
Ooh, a wizard’s lair with glass lamps which, if you smash them, release unhappy fire elementals who’ll attack the wizard!
Or you, depending on their intelligence.
I too want a funky God lamp. I’m sure the retail rice is astronomical though.
I like your name, it’s funny
Mmmm yes. Retail rice. Yum.
O.O
Chimera mum has some pretty sick lighting.
I really like your username. Which video was from again? It sounds like Red has said before.
This is from her Beowulf video! (Arguably the greatest one.)
Oooo interesting.
TL;DR: Dream spying. That’s it.
The main thing I’m curious about is if Kendal was drawn to Vash on his own or if Vash called him there once he fell asleep. OH SHIT
IT’S DREAM SEQUENCE TIME, BABY.
The Collector is gonna notice and rudely kick Kendal out, probably.
In fact, does the Collector even know Kendal exists? Because I don’t think she does. She was too busy making fun of Vash for being sad that his entire reason for existing was destroyed.
If she did know about Kendal, she’d almost certainly want him too. He’s unique, unprecedented; a happy accident of her capturing Vash.
Why do you think Vash doesn’t want her to see Kendal? If she sees him, she knows someone’s after her and will take further precautions, but if she has no clue, floof gang gets the element of suprise.
ah collector!! I haven’t seen you in years – I mean, almost a sef and a half!
Oh good, now he has a reason to sleep.
Vash: ‘Stay quiet and listen else she might know you’re here”
Vash 5 seconds later: “So can you answer my questions”
I think in that last line, he’s talking to the Collector. He wants Kendal to stay quiet and listen to her answers.
This happens to everyone when they sleep, right? right.
I like your name (it reminds me of my own)
is this the swirly glowy blue from the chapter cover?
Yes, it is.
Turns around and says, “Oh, it’s you.”, “… How did you get here?”, “Well, this is interesting…”
His hair is looking floofier than ever and I’m still jealous of it.
…Finally caught up to the current comic and now I gotta wait. 🙁

Like um, so I made more aurora fanart, you can check it out you want to. (Can you tell if you looked at it ’cause I just want to know.)

Aw, they’re so cute! They’re like Chibi Falst, Kendal, Alinua, and Erin!
Sorry, I avoid Twitter like the plague.

Happy endings are still good
Here’s an unpopular opinion: I think that Kendal would look better without his long hair.
blasphemy!
THAT’S MY WIFE!
sjkhskjhs has vash just been waiting for kendal to fall asleep so they can communicate?
oki so vash is with the colector and can share his view when Kendal sleeps? seems like it would be a good thing to have slept earlier in the story then.
