I . . . I really just want to reach in and hug Falst. I just want to wrap my arms around him and pat his floofy head until he smiles again. Please tell me I’m not the only one who wants that.
Erin’s exposition usually makes me happy or interested. This is just sad. Well, at least the whole book-bag theft seems to have been forgiven.
It wasn’t a stupid idea Falst, naive maybe but not stupid. His reasoning and precautions for the spell were fine; he just lacked the full knowledge and history behind what he was attempting. I hope this means Falst will come to accept his Ferin nature and forget about a cure.
I also get the feeling that despite Alinua having a connection to the life primordial and Erin wielding all seven elements they would struggle to find a cure too; they would need the original mage’s notes, assuming he left any.
Art wise I really like the effect of the translucent drained lacrima, I can see the fuzzy colours of Falst’s fingers behind it.
I mean, Life Mum wasn’t even able to undo Jolon’s chimerical reactions. The best she could do was euthanise the poor creatures (let’s not forget that they’re the real victims here). If she couldn’t fix that, there’s no way she could ‘fix’ an ancient and stable ‘mutation’ like Ferin.
I too hope that Falst overcome’s this self-loathing. He doesn’t deserve it. :'(
Part of me thinks that Life not being about to undo Jolon’s experiments may also be down to their minds. Even if Life reverted each chimera back to normal their minds may still be fractured, so it wouldn’t be worth it. Ferin may be a different story as their minds are perfectly fine and it’s just their bodies that were altered. Though I wonder if Life would even see Ferin as “cursed”; she may see them as a different but perfectly fine species that doesn’t need changing.
The other option would be Erin if he ever gains control over Void. I hypothesise that the Ferin mage had some limited control over Void in order to make the Ferin able to reproduce like regular beings and a similar control over the seventh element would be required if a cure is possible.
It’s mostly the social stigma from the Ferin’s introduction to the world and no choice in their own creation which gets talk of a cure rolling, if that wasn’t the case I’m sure many modern-day Ferin would be fine with who they are. The only disadvantage is their inability to use magic, but then that didn’t stop the Ancients from harnessing magic via runes, creating great things, and having a thriving civilisation.
Hey… those monks that Erin thinks could help with his dragon problem. Maybe they can help Falst too? Probably not outright cure him, but maybe help reduce the intensity of his mutations. Perhaps even lower his magic resistance a little so he can actually use it (after all, he seems to know the fundamentals and is a quick learner).
Sounds like a pretty good reason to join the party 😛
I kind of think they would have worked that one out already if it were possible. Its a famous ‘curse’ that’s been around for generations. Likely, quite a few mages have tried to build a name for themselves by being the first to reverse it.
My heart is breaking for Falst right now. I just want to hug him and reassure him of how smart and good he is. Stupidity and ignorance are not the same thing. He just didn’t have all of the background knowledge of past research and experiments needed to know ahead of time what might happen, and how was he supposed to get that? He deserves a warm cocoa and a fluffy blanket burrito to curl up in- and hugs, of course.
Could… You know? Could life herself be able to reverse the ferin curse?
She has all the power required for this kind of thing and probably an understanding of how such a curse works that surpasses that of any scholar.
Could she be able to break it?
LOL, I was so sad when I came from Ava’s Demon webcomic. Literally, it took the author of Ava’s Demon 7 years and 28 chapters just to get through the first day and night for the characters in the world! I’m so thankful I found this comic, which 1. Updates consistently and faster, and 2. Less comics are needed for more time to pass for the characters to develop. Also, I’m sad again because I literally binge read Aurora Webcomic for 4 hours from the very beginning, and now, I must wait for each update. The sadness of waiting for webcomic updates.
Thanks! Yes, I’m new. I discovered OSP three weeks ago, and I love webcomics (Like Stand Still and Stay Silent and Avas Demon) and Webtoons! So I discovered this by Red 4 days ago, and actually, I discovered I love Aurora more than OSP. Then again, I love fantasy and adventure webcomics and Red’s style is soooo vivid and pretty.
Since this is the internet, you will never know my real name.
Am I the only one wondering what the town is going to do now that the lacrima and doctor are both kaput? Is there a nearby town where they can reasonably send their wounded and ill? Is there an apprentice skilled enough to take over surgeries and the like without the lacrima?
New years will officially mark me reading aurora for 1 year! I only discovered it because I was reading an OSP trivia. On the trivia it said that Red had a web comic. I thought that was cool and it had link so I checked it out. Now I never stop talking about the comic and always pester everyone in my immediate area about it (That means my family) and am a devote follower of the comic. ( I was super sick on new years and stayed up till 1 a.m. binge-ing it.)
it was a wistful hope, but it wasn’t necessarily ‘stupid’. I mean it is stupid cause you might accidentally mutate yourself, but Falst 🙁
:'[

Everyone agrees with u, he must be given the pat pat!
He might scratch your eyes out so do it quickly.
I think I said that last page so I 100% agree with you
Everyone. Give. Falst. A. Hug. Now.
Seconded.
thirded.
Third(ed?)
fourthed (Not sure what’s correct).
n+1’thed
The aye’s have it, the aye’s have it.
yes
The alt text of this page pretty much sums up my reaction. Fluff boy’s had a tough night.
Everyone’s had a tough night except Erin, he’s had a tough week.
Erin’s exposition usually makes me happy or interested. This is just sad. Well, at least the whole book-bag theft seems to have been forgiven.

Aw no Falst. For someone who lives alone in the woods with no prior knowledge of magic it was a good idea.
Erin, pet the kitty. The kitty’s shoulder is right there!
He’s not a cat, he’s a person…
That only makes him more deserving of pets and hugs, not less!
Yeah just everyone a hug!
*give everyone
People in and out of comic keep treating being Ferin as something to be cured. I still see it as an upgrade. Falst is way better than just human.
I don’t see it as a mistake or an upgrade. I see it as simply a different circumstance of one’s birth.
It’s mostly the social stigma from the Ferin’s introduction to the world and no choice in their own creation which gets talk of a cure rolling, if that wasn’t the case I’m sure many modern-day Ferin would be fine with who they are. *reaches through the screen and hugs Falst*
Erin straight up said it wasn’t too bad an idea a few comics ago. He would be the last to exaggerate about being smart
Awww my heart is melted.

The true cure was the friends he made along the way.
Soon the team we have blond floof, pink floof, black floof, and now orange floof.
What color will be added to form a five floof band?
From what I’ve seen in the trope talks, red
What about Tess the lighting lady? Isn’t she gonna join the band
well in that case, silver floof

Son let me tell you about the power of friendship
you know, I low key ship it
I really hope they become friends
Could… You know? Could life herself be able to reverse the ferin curse?

Ok everyone hug Falst right now!

Hey buddy are you to the comments section? If so welcome. If not then this is an awkward comment that you can feel free to ignore.

First panel guys. Erin got his bag back!!! 😀
What happened to all the chimeras? Except Shirii I’m pretty sure she’s having a fun time hanging out in the stratosphere
Am I the only one wondering what the town is going to do now that the lacrima and doctor are both kaput? Is there a nearby town where they can reasonably send their wounded and ill? Is there an apprentice skilled enough to take over surgeries and the like without the lacrima?
For a town that small it already was kind of a miracle that they had a life mage doctor to begin with. So, I think that they will be alright
I love you as you are, Falst! ♥️
Man, now I really wanna see Falst accept his Ferin nature, I’m so dang attached to these characters
Nothing stupid about not knowing something you were never told.

The feels. It brings me great pain.
TL;DR: Lionboi is sad, wonders if he should abandon all hope. Narrator mcNerdman says yes and backs it up with FACTS.
Admitting your mistakes is the first step to becoming a shonun protagonist.
Am I seeing a five-man band? We have a leader, heart, and strong guy, plus whatever Falst is because he’s obviously joining
