They might be underleveled but they now have a properly equipped party members now. All they need to do is return back to the sealed entrance and ask Elemental Magus to reshape the mountain a bit to let them pass so they can follow The Collector. Erin OP forever!
She probably just shifted the rock that formed the roof of one of the upper branches where there isn’t an entrance, but comes close to the surface and is handily near the city of Vash.
Fast forward to chapter 200: “Hey, wait a second! These caves are ridiculously pleasant! There are vanes of magical elements that spontaneously produce puppies and pie!”
Erin: “Well, you weren’t going to go on my side quests, so I had to get you to grind for experience points somehow.”
I can’t help but be marginally amused by the difference in expressions between Alinua and Kendall in that panel. Kendall looks like someone told him a random new fact neither he nor Vash knew. Alinua looks like someone got to the climax of a particularly good campfire ghost story.
Can we just appreciate the fact that Erin “Storm conquering” Ruunaser thinks that going into these caves is a bad idea. I mean, if that scares him, how bad could it possibly be?
Probably as bad as he’s describing and worse. What I find curious is how the Collector survives living down there if it’s all and more than Erin’s describing.
I mean, they’re obviously not going to get harmed too much. But your back garden filled with cave-crawlers and occasionally finding a way into your house must get annoying, so I mostly want know what sort of defences she clearly has.
Wys is mentioned briefly on ðe calendar lore page as ðe god of balance and temperance. I suspect Wys may have only been mentioned ðere to give us some explanation of what Erin means here.
Also, how the hell is their planet habitable if they have solid stone caves instead of a mantle and core? You kind of need a mantle and core to have a magnetosphere
I’m not sure if a primordial being’s vascular system forming caves underground (what’s in the heart?) is better for a mythology or a D&D campaign setting.
Either way it is awesome. Permission to steal it?
Ballsacks, guess it’s not your regular karst caves. Now they have to crawl through stony veins and arteries? This brings up the question–is there a Cave Heart?
Corruption happens when a particular element builds up in someone’s soul, right? Does that mean the Kendal would be unaffected? So, like, he could stay in the caves as long as he wanted? Though, obviously, it would still be a problem for the rest of the party.
Mages can be most easily corrupted because their souls are essentially colanders with the number of holes being directly proportional to the number of elements they can use. However, they can get rid of the elemental energy that they control with practice to avoid corruption. Non-mages are more immediately resistant to corruption due to the lack of easy access for elemental energy, but they’re largely screwed if it gets in unless they have quick treatment. As far as I can tell, only the extinct race known as the ancients were fully immune enough to corruption that they could hypothetically brave the storm due to them all being magically inert. Kendall doesn’t have this protection as far as I can tell.
… Thank you Mr. Exposition. Yeah, Kendal did not plan for this.
Good point from Anna, the fact that Erin, the guy who was willing and confident about going into the storm, is scared of the caves speaks volumes about their danger.
Could also speak about Erin’s mindset as well, cool and smug going into a well-documented and understood magical storm but hesitant and erratic about facing truly unknown challenges i.e. the dark dragon and cave corruption.
TL;DR: Hubris mcNerdman, living up to his name and unlike the rest of the floofcrew, has done his homework, which states that the singing caves are really dangerous and stuff.
Is it just me, or does anyone else want to see the Kendall Speedrun strat where he just BOOKS it for Vash and doesn’t even go for clothes or whatever?
No, this is not entirely based on the fact that I think Kendall looks like Breath of the Wild Link but with longer and sexier hair, shut up!
No gonna lie: This sounds awesome. No go get some leveling done Folks!
I’m a tiny bit hyped for cave-traveling :3
They might be underleveled but they now have a properly equipped party members now. All they need to do is return back to the sealed entrance and ask Elemental Magus to reshape the mountain a bit to let them pass so they can follow The Collector. Erin OP forever!
‘They’re incredibly resistant to magic, and can’t be reshaped’
oops. try again buddy.
Well, how did collector do it then? https://comicaurora.com/aurora/1-1-21/
The Caves themselves might be resistant, the entrance to them is obviously not.
She probably just shifted the rock that formed the roof of one of the upper branches where there isn’t an entrance, but comes close to the surface and is handily near the city of Vash.
Red: “Sounds cheerfull!”
You know, they are called the Singing Caves ? (I’m sorry)
Bad puns aside, that’s a very strange name for a place like that…
Montage time!
Sounds like a fun place. XD
Guess they’ll need to do a couple side-quests and maybe acquire some mcguffins to prepare for this quest then.
Ok Mr. Wiseguy
I’m looking at Kendal and I get the feeling Erin’s little speech didn’t process for him at all. He’s off to go play Colossal Cave Adventure!
I can’t help but be marginally amused by the difference in expressions between Alinua and Kendall in that panel. Kendall looks like someone told him a random new fact neither he nor Vash knew. Alinua looks like someone got to the climax of a particularly good campfire ghost story.
Sooooo, what Erin is trying to say is… Kendal needs a training montage?
Can we just appreciate the fact that Erin “Storm conquering” Ruunaser thinks that going into these caves is a bad idea. I mean, if that scares him, how bad could it possibly be?
Probably as bad as he’s describing and worse. What I find curious is how the Collector survives living down there if it’s all and more than Erin’s describing.
Well the collector didn’t bleed or really get injured by Vash’s sword, so they might just be immune to it all
I mean, they’re obviously not going to get harmed too much. But your back garden filled with cave-crawlers and occasionally finding a way into your house must get annoying, so I mostly want know what sort of defences she clearly has.
I’ve seen enough video games to know that if they level up enough, those dungeons should be a breeze
Makes me wonder how humans and elves survived down there while the ancients lived on the surface
So . . .
That last panel is rather amusing, that penultimate panel is rather disturbing, and I now want to know who Wys is.
It’s magic. The magnetosphere is the remains of the Lightning primordial.
I’m not sure if a primordial being’s vascular system forming caves underground (what’s in the heart?) is better for a mythology or a D&D campaign setting.

So, Minecraft.
Why is this a reply?
Huh, literally the opposite of the usual problem
Reminds me of Cipactli from Aztec mythology (minus the blood sacrifices to keep the caves from eating your feet)
Somehow I think the one who has the body of a god, the life goddess possessed mage and the elemental magus would be fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine
I see someone’s decided to justify his existence by transforming into a font of exposition.
Ballsacks, guess it’s not your regular karst caves. Now they have to crawl through stony veins and arteries? This brings up the question–is there a Cave Heart?
Did anyone notice those ripped page exposition bubbles? Continuity! Yay!
In hindsight, it’s a good thing that entrance next to Vash was sealed.
Erin, you have a point.
The Deep Roads!
Yeah, hard pass xD

I love how in the last panel, A is terrified, and K is all: “This is fine.”
… Thank you Mr. Exposition. Yeah, Kendal did not plan for this.

Mmmm, a good old-fashioned Labyrinth!
oh, they can’t be reshaped?
how fascinating…
TL;DR: Hubris mcNerdman, living up to his name and unlike the rest of the floofcrew, has done his homework, which states that the singing caves are really dangerous and stuff.
Time for some grinding, also they need a bigger raid party.
I don’t like how that corrupted thing in the penultimate panel looked a lot like our good friend McHubris
alt text: sounds cheerful!
I mean, I wouldn’t want to build a summer home there, but it’s not too bad
still better than blighttown

No, this is not entirely based on the fact that I think Kendall looks like Breath of the Wild Link but with longer and sexier hair, shut up!
Fire, gas, water and dangers galore
If you enter the caves, but wait! There’s more!
The hungry beasts thrive there, causing much mayhem
If you stay there too long you’ll become one of them
